Chapter 52: Waking up from the Nightmare.

That was hell.

Every cell in his body screamed in pain.

His stomach churned, his mind clouded, his body burned from within.

His skin began to sting and fall off.

His whole body was suffering, burning, but it was worse than being burned alive, much worse.

"Aaaaaaaah!" A scream escaped Lloyd’s throat.

The boy had jumped up, and now found himself leaning forward, breathing raggedly while clutching his chest.

His body was drenched in so much sweat that his clothes had stuck to his skin.

His breathing began to calm while he observed his surroundings.

Only by doing so could he calm down a bit.

It had all been a dream, he was no longer in that horrible place.

He was no longer in the temple, he had already left the trial.

There was nothing more to fear.

Lloyd repeated that idea multiple times in his head, like a mantra to calm himself.

Soon his whole body relaxed, his heart, which pounded forcefully in his chest, began to beat more slowly.

Still, when the image of what he had dreamed returned to his mind, his stomach twisted, and he had to hold back the urge to vomit.

"Tsk, how pathetic," he said to himself while leaning on the wall behind him.

Upon doing so, the young man felt there was a weight on top of him.

Upon observing it carefully, he could deduce what it was.

Apparently, Alice hadn’t lost the habit of taking refuge in his bed at night.

"Mmm, where am I?" The boy asked himself, observing the room he was in again.

It was a wooden cabin, quite cozy.

Light filtered through a window without glass, illuminating the entire room.

There were some potted plants decorating the room, which made it more welcoming.

Lloyd took a large gulp of air, the pure and clean air filled his lungs and relaxed his body.

A feeling of security invaded him, driving away the bad memory of the dream.

"Let’s see, let’s try to remember what happened yesterday," the young man ordered himself.

The boy tried to remember.

After passing Siegfried’s trial with many difficulties, Lloyd woke up obtaining multiple rewards for his efforts.

Remembering everything he had gained the other day, Lloyd felt a sensation of satisfaction in his chest.

Though that wasn’t the only thing that had happened.

After waking up Lloyd had seen how a cloud of insects tried to attack his subordinates, so he used primordial flames on them to finish them off.

That was the only thing he remembered.

"Wow, so I fainted right after using the flames? It seems I still have a long way to go to master those flames," the boy said to himself.

Though at the same time Lloyd not only blamed the flames, he also knew that after passing Siegfried’s trial his mind must have been exhausted.

Lloyd swallowed while remembering what it had cost him to complete the trial.

The simple idea of recalling that ordeal turned his stomach.

"No Lloyd, concentrate, focus on the positive," the boy said to himself.

What he had lived through in the temple was something horrible without doubt, but the reward was substantial.

The boy smiled, he still had to investigate some rewards, plus he had to decide what he would spend the [V.P] on.

The boy then summoned the Mirror of Vainglory, and before him the information was revealed.

The young man whistled.

Without doubt he had obtained many things, though what most interested him was the possible use of the mark of the chosen.

According to the description that mark hid a "hidden power," and he was eager to discover what power it was.

Though that had to wait, he still had a part of the loot left to investigate.

[Gleipnir]

{Quality: Mythic}

"An artifact built by Siegfried himself, it was once a divine artifact capable of sealing, but over time it became corrupted absorbing demonic power and became a cursed artifact."

"Gleipnir manifests in the form of chains that are capable of sealing an aspect of the target, or also weakening certain aspects or characteristics of designated targets."

"Gleipnir however needs to be fed to function, any form of energy is capable of serving as fuel for Gleipnir, but demonic energy is what feeds it most."

Lloyd smiled seeing the object’s information.

It was Mythic rank, such an artifact would surely be worth a lot of money, though Lloyd had no intention of selling it.

However he knew it would be very useful.

Then, something interrupted Lloyd’s joy.

Someone knocked on the door.

"Excuse me," the voice said, while the door opened.

Who was it?
