Sovereign of the Ashes-Chapter 1449: Pursuit and Law Array Diagram
Sein tapped the magic rod lightly against his chest.
Scorching flame energy surged from the rod’s tip, resonating with the elemental energy within his body.
Fierce flames once again burst outward from Sein’s lawful body, spreading in all directions.
When a flame demon nearly a kilometer tall appeared on the battlefield, the once-dusky sky of the plane was drenched in a blood-red hue.
The Rank Four Lizard Elder, who had just arrived on the battlefield, murmured, “That Magus World mage...”
Unhindered by the layers of radiation, Sein flapped his blazing wings and soared toward the Rank Four Eye Demon at an accelerated pace, magic rod in hand.
A trail of firestorms ignited in his wake.
Sein’s years of research across various elemental energies had not been in vain. His mastery of combining aero and pyro elemental magic had reached a formidable level.
On the battlefield, the devastating nature of his firestorms inflicted heavy casualties upon the lower-tier creature legions.
He charged forward, engulfed by fire and storm. Along the way, hundreds of thousands—perhaps even over a million—of Radbow World’s native creatures and Eye Demons suffered grievously under the overwhelming force of his elemental power.
The troop composition between the Grand Eye Demon World and Radbow World forces was well thought out.
The majority of Radbow World natives formed the frontlines, while the Eye Demons, who possessed longer attack ranges and higher destructive power but weaker defenses, clustered in the rear, providing long-range support for the radioactive creatures.
The Rank Four Eye Demon’s agility allowed it to evade Sein’s attacks again and again.
The weaker Radbow World creatures and ordinary Eye Demons were not so lucky, falling easily to his strikes.
Had Sein not already depleted a portion of his mana and needed to reserve strength for the hostile Rank Four natives of this world, he would have unleashed another forbidden-level area-of-effect spell.
Even a smaller one would have brought devastating destruction to the battlefield.
One pursued, the other fled.
After two months of fighting with this Rank Four Eye Demon, leaving countless lower-tier legions in ruins, the creature finally stopped running.
By now, Sein had pushed deep into the enemy’s rear lines.
Perhaps that was what made the Rank Four Eye Demon decide to end its retreat and face him head-on.
“Damn Magus World mage! I refuse to believe you still have the strength to fight after using up so much elemental energy!” the Rank Four Eye Demon roared, turning around to face him. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Eye Demons had neither mouths nor vocal cords. They communicated through psychic force, much like how Magus World mages used mental focus to converse.
Their kind possessed remarkably high innate focus—so much so that even the average Eye Demon surpassed ordinary humans at the lowest tiers of Magus World.
Still, they were nothing more than a species with mental focus that evolved passively. Over eighty percent of their power was concentrated in that single, enormous eye.
Compared to mages who pursued knowledge and truth, the difference was vast.
Sein tilted his head back and drank a potion prepared by his mentor without sparing the Rank Four Eye Demon a glance.
The Eye Demon, meanwhile, was desperately replenishing its energy. A string of bright yellow Radiation Stones hung from its tendrils like a bunch of grapes as it greedily drained their power.
One of Radbow World’s key resources was these Radiation Stones, favored both as sustenance and as a power source by the Eye Demons.
The fact that Radbow World had managed to hold out against the Magus Civilization’s legions for so long made it clear that the Grand Eye Demon World had no intention of giving up this low-level plane.
Just as the Magus Alliance was preparing to send Rank Four reinforcements of their own, powerful creatures from the Grand Eye Demon World were already on their way.
Sein and the Rank Four Eye Demon locked eyes, and without a single word, both sprang into action.
Sein fired several devastating elemental beams from his magic rod, then spread his blazing wings and charged straight toward his foe.
The Eye Demon’s fragile body was its weakness.
If a demigod-level knight were able to close in and strike its eye directly, they could deal tremendous damage too.
Mages were fragile by nature as well, but this Rank Four Eye Demon was clearly frailer than Sein!
During the earlier chase, the Rank Four Eye Demon had already witnessed Sein’s remarkable resilience and endurance. Now, it had no intention of engaging him in close combat.
Several Evil Eye Beams shot out from the Eye Demon’s pupil.
These creatures’ attack patterns were simple, but their destructive power was undeniable.
After intercepting several elemental beams in quick succession, the Eye Demon abruptly lifted its gaze.
A crimson beam tore across the sky, revealing a massive law array diagram that spread over the battlefield, placing both Sein and the Rank Four Eye Demon at its center.
The Eye Demons had never favored close combat. From their past behavior, it was clear they excelled at scheming and ambushes.
While Sein had pursued the Rank Four Eye Demon deep into its territory, his opponent had been plotting a counterattack all along.
As the vast law array diagram descended from the sky, demigod-level Eye Demons took their positions at each key node of the formation.
Around them, over a hundred thousand Eye Demons had gathered in tight ranks.
For two months, Sein had devastated their legions, and now they were ready to strike back.
“Even if you don’t die, we’ll cripple you! Damn Magus World mage!” As the Rank Four Eye Demon unleashed a beam infused with its origin law power, the sky rained with a dense barrage of crimson light.
Each beam carried the full force of an Eye Demon’s attack.
With over a hundred thousand of them channeling their energy through the formation array, the combined power was overwhelming!
On the edge of the battlefield, Tychus, locked in fierce combat, sensed that something was wrong.
Sein’s earlier performance had been nothing short of astonishing, pushing the Magus Civilization’s forces to nearly unstoppable momentum.
If something happened to him now, the entire battle in Radbow World and their army’s morale would take a severe blow.
“I’m going to help Master Sein!” Tychus announced loudly, swinging his halberds as he prepared to abandon the wounded Rank Four radioactive creature before him and leave.
Before he could move, several white vortexes of gas released by the Burning Flame Unit blocked his path.
“No need. Everything is within the Master’s calculations,” Yuri said calmly.
