Sinner System-Chapter 409: Monster System (Part 4)
"Sure, I’ve got no reason to refuse. Though, using Appraisal on me should give you your answer, since I’ve reached my upper limit already.
My MP, Agility and Perception maxed out at 3000. And since Strength and Vitality are restricted by Agility, they maxed out at 2100.
If I’d focused on brute strength over speed, then I could’ve reached 3000 with Strength and Vitality, but my Agility would’ve been capped at 2100," I explained, as she nodded with a look of fascination.
"Yeah, my original plan was to increase all my stats equally, but once I found out that Agility restricts Strength and Vitality, and vice versa, I decided to primarily focus on Agility."
"By the way, is there a limit to how many Skills you can get from Monsters?" Inquired Aria.
"No, at least not as far as I know," She shook her head.
"That’s pretty cool, you could become seriously OP. Phoenix Cores could give you the ability to resurrect yourself if you’re ever killed, Archdemon-...or at least Greater Demon...-Cores could give you Regeneration and Negative Energy Generation," I pointed out, feeling a bit envious.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, the Sinner System is great and all, I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but the ability to acquire an unlimited number of Skills is pretty dope.
"Maybe...but it depends on compatibility. According to my Info Bank, there may be some Monster abilities that can’t be adapted into Skills if they aren’t physically possible for me.
Like, if I absorb Hydra Cores, I probably won’t get the ability to survive decapitation unless all six heads are cut off, since, you know, I don’t have six heads," She pointed out with a wry smile.
"Yeah, that makes sense. It doesn’t look like you have any monstrous or inhuman features, so besides making you stronger, it seems absorbing Monster Cores doesn’t result in any physical changes.
Well, I could be wrong, considering that there isn’t much of a sample size, seeing as you’ve only been on two Low Level raids so far," I remarked thoughtfully.
"No, Assimilation won’t transform my body, which I’m definitely happy about. It’d be one thing if it was, like, a temporary power boost that changes my appearance, like with you, but I don’t want to have any permanent Monster features," She shuddered apprehensively.
"I don’t know, I think it’d look pretty cool if it was subtle. Like, sharp fangs and claws, narrow slit pupils like reptiles, stuff like that," Grinned Aria wryly.
"I mean, those aren’t overtly monstrous, I’m talking more about scales, fur, horns and stuff like that. Like, I wouldn’t want my skin turning green and warty if I absorb a bunch of Goblin Cores," She pointed out.
"Yeah, that’s definitely fair," I nodded with a slight chuckle.
"Anyway, I think that just about covers the details of my System...if it’s okay, could I ask you for some advice?" She requested, as she met my gaze.
"Sure, go ahead."
"Not sure where to start, I-...how about this, could you give me a rundown of how to approach getting stronger while keeping my powers under wraps?" She asked me.
"I can speak about my experience with it, if that’d help. To begin with, and to put it frankly, it’s going to be real tough to get stronger at a decent rate if you completely hide your powers.
It was pretty slow progress for me initially, but I lucked out, the former Chairwoman of the Hunters Union caught on to my ability to get stronger and approached me.
And she helped facilitate my progress while also keeping my powers under wraps from the public, only a small handful of Hunters knew about it.
You can only go so far while hiding your powers completely...and the more you progress, the harder it’ll get to hide, especially when it comes to your Aura. Anyone with Perception of above 500 will be able to perceive your Aura," I informed her.
"That would only be Aces, right? By the way, what color is my Aura? I know each Hunter Class has a different hue, while Arcane Classes each have unique hues, so what does mine look like?" She inquired curiously.
"Uh...to be blunt, it’s kinda...," Aria trailed off, before glancing at me.
"It’s a murky mix of a bunch of colors, I’d say it’s closest to black, but not really black."
"Oh...that kinda sucks, I was hoping it’d be something cooler. What color is yours?" She asked me.
"Apparently purple, though I can’t see it myself, it’s impossible to perceive your own Aura," I informed her.
"I see...purple sounds cool, I’d have liked something like blue or red too. I wouldn’t have minded, like, a jet-black, shadowy Aura, but a murky mess is pretty disappointing," She sighed, looking kinda bummed.
"Shadowy black is the hue that Demon Auras have, so some people might mistake you for a Demon in disguise or something if you had a similar Aura to the Demons.
As for blue, there’s already too many blue Auras...Water Magic or Water Attribute are light blue, Lightning is a darker, electric blue, and Ice Magic is a frosty, whitish blue. And red is taken too, by a certain explosion-happy maniac," I replied with a wry smile.
"I mean, it doesn’t really matter, there are some Monsters with very different abilities that have Auras with similar hues," Reasoned Aria objectively.
"Yeah, I suppose it doesn’t really make much of a difference what color your Aura is."
"I guess that’s true...so, um, if I could make a request of you guys. Could you help me get stronger while keeping my powers a secret from the public? At least, say, until I reach the level of an Ace?" She asked us hesitantly.
"I’m on-board with that, what about you, Kai?" Responded Aria with a smile.
"Yeah, no objections here. Hm, it’ll be easiest to help you if you join our Guild. Well, at your current level, you’ll probably graduate at J-Rank, maybe barely Q-Rank, so ordinarily, you’d probably end up as a Freelance Hunter. But I can put in a request to the Union to have you assigned to the Sinners Guild instead.
Although, I might have to tell at least the new Chairman about you. Even if I can avoid getting into the details, I’d at least have to reveal that you have the same ability to get stronger that I do," I informed her.
"Well, that isn’t ideal, but so long as the general public remains in the dark about me, I suppose that’s a reasonable compromise," She nodded after taking a moment to mull it over.
