Chapter 83: Dad tax

Luo Muchen didn’t interfere. That’s because he loved the feeling of Qie Xieling protecting him like an aggressive territorial beast. It felt so good that he couldn’t help but put on a pitful appearance like he was a pathetic and harmless creature being bullied.

Ming Tao let out a cute smile while pointing at Qie Xieling. "Why are you speaking for him when he hasn’t even said anything to me yet? Didn’t I tell you that I am a morally upright person? As long as he is single then I will keep trying."

Qie Xieling’s lips twitched hearing this shameless girl. What part of the word no didn’t she understand?

"Well, you are out of luck. He likes someone so move right along," said Qie Xieling almost blocking Luo Muchen with his body.

"I said as long as he is not single not when he likes someone. Who knows if this person even exists," she said sounding as shameless as ever.

Lee Ya knew she had to intervene otherwise her plan would fail again. She grabbed Qie Xieling’s arm and said sweetly, "Gege, let’s go. I am really hungry. I didn’t eat breakfast." while tugging his arm.

Who would have thought Qie Xieling would be so stubborn? He refused to barge and even shook off her hand.

"Can’t you see you aren’t welcome here," he said only for Luo Muchen to hook his shoulder and pull him away. He didn’t care what the others were going to do after this. All he cared about was Qie Xieling so he walked away with him with no remorse.

Qie Xieling still wanted to fight and like a puppy being pulled away from its first bone he tried to escape but Luo Muchen had a tight grip on him.

Bo Ailun dragged the other two girls to catch up with Qie Xieling leaving the two standing there alone.

Ming Tao couldn’t help but check her nails nonchalantly while asking, "You are still going to pay me, right? I love him but he is a really tough cookie."

Lee Ya rolled her eyes before walking away. She wanted someone to pester Luo Muchen so she could get a moment of peace alone with Qie Xieling. Ming Tao was a perfect choice. She was shameless enough and she wasn’t embarrassed even when scolded.

Qie Xieling only calmed down after Luo Muchen bought him fruit and cream-filled crepes. His eyes lit up. If he had a tail it would be wagging right now.

"Mmm, thish sho good," said Qie Xieling with a mouthful of food. "Dage, you’re sho good to me," he added, still chewing.

Luo Muchen who had been promoted to brother after years was a little disappointed. He wiped the corner of Qie Xieling’s lips with his thumb and without any thought ate the cream.

Bo Ailun’s eyes narrowed filled with suspicion. He stopped chewing his bacon caramel corn while staring at his best friend who didn’t seem bothered at all.

Qie Xieling carried on eating like nothing had happened. What made it worse was that the two girls beside them were laughing shyly like they were watching an interesting TV drama.

Bo Ailun arched his brow wondering if he and Luo Muchen would get the same treatment. He stretched out his naughty paw and at the sight of cream he reached out to wipe the corner of Qie Xieling’s mouth but his hand was mercilessly slapped away.

Bo Ailun: "..."

Qie Xieling licked the corner of his lips while protecting his cream-filled crepes from Bo Ailun. It seemed he had misunderstood why Bo Ailun was reaching out in the first place.

"I didn’t want your crepes, you had some cream on your lips," said Bo Ailun feeling wronged. Why was the difference in treatment so big?

Qie Xieling wiped the corner of his lips and said, "Then just say so. Damn, I thought you were going to rob me even after you refused the class president’s offer."

Bo Ailun: "..."

Luo Muchen smiled slightly but internally his heart was like a fuzz ball jumping up and down in elation.

Completely unaware of the landmines, Lee Ya sat foot in the field after negotiating a price with Ming Tao. She rushed over happily her long lustrous hair swaying with the breeze like she was in a loreal shampoo ad. She reached out and touched Qie Xieling’s paper plate while saying cutely, "Gege, give me a bite. I am so hungry."

Remember how Qie Xieling feels about sharing? Well, this was her first encounter with this phenomenon. Qie Xieling didn’t care how cute she looked or how pretty her smile was, he dodged her hand ruthlessly.

Unfortunately, Lee Ya thought he was teasing her thus she tried a few more times but he wasn’t joking at all.

"If you are hungry then you can get some. The crepe food truck is just right there," said Qie Xieling seeing that she had given up.

"But I can’t finish it all. I am watching my weight. I just need one bite," she said but Qie Xieling wasn’t having it.

"Class president bought this for me. It would be rude if I share," he said using Luo Muchen as an excuse and sure enough she stopped pestering him.

Just when Qie Xieling thought everybody would leave him in peace Luo Muchen draped his arm around his shoulders and leaned in close while saying in a deep voice, "Can I have a bite."

Qie Xieling: "..."

Had everyone gone crazy? Why were they all hungry for this crepe in particular? Qie Xieling tilted his head to the side seeming dejected and asked, "Why?"

Luo Muchen chose the most shameless route to prove a point to his so-called estranged half-sister.

"I bought it for you and I can’t even get a bite?" he asked while gently massaging Qie Xieling’s shoulder. Qie Xieling turned his gaze to the pitiful-looking piece left on his plate. With a disgruntled expression, he said,

"Mm," while giving him the paper plate but Luo Muchen was fully committed to playing this role. After suffering so much torment with Qie Xieling sitting on his lap he felt like he earned it.

He arched his brow with an all-knowing smile and Qie Xieling instantly understood his meaning. He stabbed the plastic fork hard into the crepe vowing to make Luo Muchen miserable later.

"Here," he said with the fork almost touching Luo Muchen’s lips.
