Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 61: Stealing someone’s love letter
Qie Xieling lay in the back seat of the car with his earbuds in his ear listening to some random playlist. He could occasionally hear his dad and father talking about something in between songs but it was all background noise to him as he was more focused on the game on his cell phone.
The yellow glow of the passing street lights would occasionally shine on his face revealing a sullen expression. He was still calming down from the fight earlier so he wasn’t necessarily in a good mood. Who would be after seeing their friend injured after being ganged up on by five boys?
Qie Xieling sighed as he lay on his with his eyes directly facing the backrest of the car seat. The car suddenly stopped and his back was tapped. Qie Xieling paused his game and turned to look at his dads.
Wen Qinxi was looking at him while asking, "Do you want some peppermint mocha?" Qie Xieling arched his neck slightly to look out of the window and saw that they were at a drive-through.
He immediately sat up while nodding his head frantically. There was a rule of no eating in the car and occasionally his father was quite lenient. This was one such time. "Yes please and extra toppings," replied Qie Xieling and Qie Ranzhe showed a half smile.
He knew exactly how to coax these two mainly because both of them were foodies. Food always made them very happy.
In less than five minutes the car was already pulling out of the drive through back to the road. "You like it?" asked Qie Ranzhe when he stopped at the red traffic light.
"Uh huh," replied Qie Xieling while Wen Qinxi pushed the straw into Qie Ranzhe’s mouth. Two sips in and the traffic lights turned green. The car made a sharp right while Wen Qinxi praised Qie Xieling saying, "You did well today. You should never stand by and watch your classmates getting bullied."
Qie Xieling licked the corner of his lip that had some whipped cream on it while his body wiggled enjoying the sugar rush.
Qie Ranzhe tapped the steering wheel a little annoyed. Why did it have to be that Luo kid though? He could see it in that brat’s eyes that he was eyeing his family’s cabbage. He was grateful for the thick fence which was Qie Xieling’s cluelessness otherwise this cabbage would have already been harassed by that pig.
"He doesn’t look like the type who gets bullied though. He looks like he can handle himself," complained Qie Ranzhe and Wen Qinxi could kind of see it.
Qie Xieling was so immersed in the intoxicating sweetness of his mocha that he didn’t pay attention to what they were saying. This high lasted all the way to the next day making one wonder how much sugar was in that mocha.
Qie Xieling was a ball of energy almost wearing down his teachers. Teacher Zhu who couldn’t stand it asked him during chemistry class why he was being a bigger menace than usual.
Qie Xieling was incredibly truthful. "I had a peppermint mocha last night with extra toppings," he replied and teacher Zhu was a little surprised. He could swear Qie Xieling was high on something.
"Sounds delicious. Will you take me after school?" asked Ah Cy who was currently Qie Xieling’s lab partner.
Qie Xieling actually agreed but he didn’t know that he was being baited by a major fujoshi who started that secret group on the school forum.
She smiled knowingly and turned to her friend two workbenches behind her and showed a subtle thumbs up with a silly grin on her face.
She accidentally met Luo Muchen’s dark eyes and her heart jumped in bliss. She hurriedly cleared her throat before asking Qie Xieling, "Can we bring the class president too?"
Qie Xieling replied casually, "He doesn’t like sweet things," but that was a lie. Luo Muchen could eat and drink anything as long as Qie Xieling was there. Nothing was off the table.
Ah Cy was quick thinking. She leaned closer and whispered, "Thats okay. I am sure he can have other drinks."
Qie Xieling stopped pouring distilled water into the measuring cylinder and looked at her. She showed an adorable smile and beaming doe eyes sparkling like stars making it very hard for him to refuse. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
He glanced back and met Luo Muchen’s cold gaze. If he didn’t know any better he might think Luo Muchen was mad at him. He smiled slightly before looking away and saying, "I will ask him later."
Ah Cy was so happy and wanted to share with the group of girls and boys that they should expect more content soon but she contained herself.
Her awareness was completely lacking. If it wasn’t she would have noticed the deadly glare she was getting from Lee Ya at the other end of the lab. Nothing good could come from getting Lee Ya’s attention.

As soon as the bell for the last class rang Qie Xieling and Bo Ailun disappeared real quick. Why the hurry one might ask. It was because they were going to the volleyball court. Today they were training the juniors and it was fun watching them get hit by the ball. By the time Luo Muchen came back from sending the class exercise books to the math teacher, Qie Xieling was nowhere to be found.
Ah Cy could see that he was looking for Qie Xieling so she said, "Class president, he already left for sports," while taking out her tennis racket from the lockers at the back of the class.
"Oh... thanks," replied Luo Muchen before heading to his desk to pack up his things.
While he was putting his books away he caught a glimpse of the corner of a pink envelope inside Qie Xieling’s desk.
His heart skipped a beat as he turned back sharply to ask the girls who were remaining in class but they had all left.
With a twinge of guilt flashing in his eyes he grabbed the envelope and put it in his school bag. He tried to convince himself that it must be one of the letters Qie Xieling receives on his behalf so it wasn’t exactly stealing, right?
This however didn’t stop him from feeling guilty. The weight in his heart only got bigger and bigger as he changed into his sports uniform. He felt bad but he also didn’t want to watch someone confess to Qie Xieling. That would undoubtedly kill him.
