A Night of Desire-Chapter 154: His Woman Still Has Some Fight in Her
"Besides," Sandra spoke up again after a moment of silence, "these things seem to come in all different types and functions. Don’t tell me you brought so many just for yourself?"
Seeing that her words had successfully left Clara Grant speechless and unable to offer a defense, Sandra got a little carried away. Eager to see Clara humiliated, she spoke with even less restraint.
The moment her words fell, Seth Quinn’s piercing gaze shot toward her. His brow furrowed slightly, his face clouding over with a cold chill.
Holly Summers, who had at some point moved to stand behind Clara Grant, yelled at Sandra, her face flushed with anger, "Sandra, what nonsense are you spouting? Clara already said the suitcase isn’t hers. We don’t even know what’s going on yet, don’t you think you’re going way too far?!"
Miles Quinn couldn’t stand to watch any longer either. ’But with my older brother here, it probably isn’t my place to protect my sister-in-law, is it?’
He glanced over at his older brother, only to see that he seemed to have no intention of helping Clara.
Miles Quinn frowned. He couldn’t stop himself from raising his finger to point at Sandra and was just about to speak, but Seth Quinn grabbed his hand.
He looked at his older brother, confused. Seth Quinn shot him a look, signaling him to keep quiet, so Miles Quinn reluctantly closed his open mouth.
’Since my older brother isn’t letting me help Clara, he must have his reasons.’
’But looking at Clara, I’m really worried she won’t be able to take it.’
Clara Grant looked up and scanned the people around her. In such a large crowd, besides Holly Summers, not a single person was speaking up for her.
Including... Seth Quinn! 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
’Could he, like everyone else, believe I brought these things here to "use"?’
Clara Grant had wanted to see the expression on his face, but her gaze faltered, and she couldn’t bring herself to look over at him.
Perhaps she didn’t have the courage to see him looking at her with the same suspicion as everyone else, or perhaps she was just feeling indignant that he hadn’t said a single word to help her.
In this situation, she was completely isolated and helpless. She could only rely on herself.
Clara Grant looked at Sandra, her expression composed and her tone even. "I’ve never used these things, so I genuinely don’t know anything about them. But from the way you’re talking about models and functions, you seem to know an awful lot."
Although she felt that she owed Sandra for taking her role, she couldn’t just let herself be slandered like this.
"You!" Sandra seemed unprepared for Clara Grant, who had been silenced just moments ago, to suddenly be so sharp-tongued. Anger flared within her. "These are your things. How would I know anything about them?"
"How do you know these are my things?" Clara Grant retorted.
"You don’t have any proof that they’re not yours."
"Do you have any proof that they’re mine, then?"
"You!... I..." Sandra sputtered for a long moment but couldn’t come up with a response. In truth, she had no proof.
But unwilling to accept that her attempt to humiliate Clara Grant had backfired and made her a laughingstock instead, she could only glare hatefully at her, as if trying to burn a hole through her with her eyes.
Seeing Sandra speechless, Clara Grant inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. ’I figured that for someone who dared to provoke me time and again, her fighting spirit must be incredibly strong. Who would’ve thought she’d fold so quickly?’
Seth Quinn’s expression gradually brightened. ’It seems my woman has some fight in her after all, she’s just still a little weak.’
A smile touched Miles Quinn’s lips as well. ’It seems I underestimated Clara. How could I forget? Not long ago, she used that very same sharp tongue to render Chloe Grant speechless right in front of me.’
