Chapter 180: You are a walking red flag

The fierceness on his face melted away as he took a step back. His brow furrowed as he asked, "What do you mean?" his voice tremulous.

Jolie rubbed her sore neck while saying, "Give me a bloody second."

King Luo didn’t have even a single thread of patience left in him. His draconian blood was seething at this moment which meant he wasn’t as rational as before. Out of anger, he stretched out his hand and a sizzling ball of raging flames shot out of his hand. The flame was palm-sized but it tore through the forest and scorched everything in its path.

Jolie’s eyes widened in awe as she gazed at the burnt forest. "You are a walking red flag, do you know that?"

"Speak," he said with an untamed savagery in his voice.

Jolie got down from the tree and said, "Well, I can’t tell you everything but this is what I can tell you. That person isn’t Eling but your lover in another life. Haven’t you noticed that his personality is a far cry from the Eling you know... Don’t tell me you are so stupid that you haven’t noticed."

King Luo knew more than anyone that Eling had changed but he was too consumed with hatred to take it to heart. He didn’t dare believe that the Eling who betrayed him was no longer there. That’s because he would have nowhere to vent the pain from the betrayal he suffered at that man’s hands.

As for the part of this person being his lover in another life, he couldn’t believe Jolie. Anything out of this woman’s mouth wasn’t to be trusted. Besides the idea that there was another life outside of this one was hard to believe.

"You unbeliever. I can see it on your face. You don’t believe me at all," she said while shaking her head. What was the point of talking to him about it? She long knew that the rules of this game didn’t apply to her as she was an anomaly. As long as she wasn’t excessive in her actions the system wouldn’t perceive her as a threat.

The main reason why she decided to tell King Luo half-truths was because she wanted things to be easier for Qie Xieling. She had to deal with the system and couldn’t accompany him all the time. At least if King Luo wasn’t being too mean to Qie Xieling she would feel a sense of ease. Who would think the person wouldn’t believe him?

"Forget it. I won’t waste my time with you. Lin Lin needs me," she said taking a step to leave.

King Luo suddenly blocked her path his throat bobbing. "What’s his name?" he asked and Jolie’s lips slowly crept into a smile.

She was already plotting to smear Luo Muchen to the high heavens and make sure Qie Xieling would never think of him again if he wasn’t sensible. Anyone who wasn’t willing to go the distance for Qie Xieling wouldn’t be deserving of him.

Now that he was playing his cards right, she pocketed that plan for now. "Qie Xieling or Lin Lin for short," she said.

"Then why didn’t he tell me who he was from the beginning?" he asked and Jolie answered,

"That’s because he is bound by the laws of this world. He can’t tell you neither can you tell him you know. Just treat him better. He is a fragile soul."

King Luo turned to look at her and asked, "What about you? Aren’t you bound by the laws of this world?"

"You aren’t stupid after all. I am not because I am different," she said before turning to leave.

King Luo clenched his fist before turning to ask, "Am I Mu Mu?"

Jolie turned her head back and smiled slightly before walking away. That smile made his entire body numb. He couldn’t believe it for a moment. Suddenly everything was starting to make sense. When he thought of what he did to him in the warm spring the previous night he closed his eyes a sense of guilt washing over him. He couldn’t remember anything of their other life but Eling... no Qie Xieling did. Just imagine the person who loved you in another life telling you that they liked someone else and even wanted to marry them.

Even if he didn’t feel anything for Qie Xieling in this world he wouldn’t want to hurt him. He vowed to do right by him.

Qie Xieling had no idea that his secrets had been exposed. He was still knocked out cold with Jolie watching over him. Well, she wasn’t exactly watching over him but sitting next to him while finding ways to hurt the system.

In this state, her being was separated from this body though she was still aware of her surroundings. She felt it when something as small as an iguana snuck into the tent. She smiled slightly but didn’t sell him out.

King Luo heaved a sigh when he saw that Jolie didn’t move. He crawled underneath the quilt and curled up into a ball on Qie Xieling’s chest. He lay his head down staring at his face that was sleeping peacefully.

At that moment no one could tell what was on his mind but his eyes were filled with complicated emotions.

While they were asleep, Jolie finally found a way to Prodigy’s server. She knew she couldn’t be in there for long otherwise Leong Jinn would find out she had infiltrated his game.

She sifted through the application-specific integrated circuits in the server. The system that was watching some educational program to help it grow more suddenly felt an agonising pain searing through every fibre of its being.

The sad part was that it could only suffer in silence and couldn’t even issue its master a warning. The pain was a thousand times what Qie Xieling felt and double the duration.

Prodigy was so terrified it thought it was going to be erased. After going through so much agony for what seemed like an eternity the pain gradually disappeared and the system was suddenly filled with a great sense of relief.

Just as it wanted to tell its master what happened an eerie voice suddenly spoke in the dark. "If you tell anyone, I will make you suffer the same pain tenfold."

Prodigy was so terrified but it still gathered its courage and asked, "Who is it?" but the eerie presence slowly retreated into the shadows leaving behind a distraught system. It had never felt pain nor could it register many emotions. But for the first time it felt agonising pain and an intense fear. It didn’t dare speak up.
