Chapter 170: "Come up. I will carry you...

That infuriating smile only fueled King Luo’s internal turmoil further. He resented himself for succumbing to these conflicting emotions and for allowing his desires to cloud his judgment. Unable to bear the intensity of his emotions any longer, he abruptly pushed himself off Eling and stormed out of the room. With a loud bang, the door was shut, leaving behind a confused Qie Xieling.

The door was opened a little and Boran’s big head appeared through the crack. "We are heading out. The sooner we leave, the sooner we get there.

Qie Xieling nodded his head and continued tossing the rest of his things in his holding bag. Boran wanted to ask what happened to King Luo but looking at Eling’s dark expression, he wisely shut his mouth. It was best he quelled his curiosity. As the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat and he was no bloody cat. He didn’t have nine lives but just one.

Qie Xieling had been looking for an opportunity to speak to King Luo ever since they left the small town. Because the time had run out, King Luo was back in his dragon form and he was flying ahead of the group leading the way.

Qie Xieling kept glancing in his direction but not once did King Luo speak to him. Even when he took the initiative to speak to him, King Luo would ignore him and answer other people’s questions instead.

Yunning who had been very depressed lately, was a little happy seeing him that miserable. It seemed her plan finally worked. With a smug smile, she turned her head away as she walked ahead.

Qie Xieling, "..."

"That bitch. Let’s get back at her," said Jolie who couldn’t stand that smug look.

"Yah," answered Qie Xieling absentmindedly.

"Let’s put hair remover cream in her shampoo. Let’s see if she will still be smug with no hair. Or or we can put bed bugs in her things. I bet she won’t be smirking after that. I think I have a spell that will make her lose all her teeth. She would be ugly toothless. I bet she won’t smile after that," she said, only to feel an intense gaze on the side of her face.

When she turned her face, she found Qie Xieling looking at her, his mouth agape. "What?"

"You are so dark? Is that how you torment the players in secret?"

Jolie immediately shook her head in denial. "No no no no. I would never do that."

Qie Xieling heaved a sigh but it turns out he sighed too quickly because she followed that sentence with, "... I have done worse. I can go way darker than that."

Qie Xieling "..."

With a bully like Jolie, it’s a wonder that his dad’s game was still popular. With Jolie running the show, he was sure some people must have quit playing.

"Don’t look at me like that. I do it to bad people who bully noobs. I like to consider myself an avenger," she said as she fixed her tiara. The two of them walked in silence for a while before Qie Xieling

"Do you want to play a game?" asked Jolie and Qie Xieling who was bored out of his mind, agreed. He had already forgotten how competitive Jolie was.

"Okay, what game?" he asked and Jolie excitedly shouted,

"Twenty questions. If I win, you take my quiz."

Qie Xieling, "..."

"Fine, if I win, you can’t talk for half a day," he said and Jolie gasped exaggeratedly like she had been accused of a heinous crime.

One would think playing twenty questions would be a peaceful game but when these two played, everyone couldn’t stand it. Boran couldn’t help but interject.

"It’s a chicken, a bloody chicken. Even I can figure that out and I am not even playing," he yelled in frustration after hearing the nth wrong answer.

"No, it’s not. Why are you eavesdropping on our conversation?" said Qie Xieling as he turned to Jolie and asked, "Really? A chicken."

Jolie nodded her head. Playing with Qie Xieling was easy. It was like taking candy from a baby. Well, the baby’s grip was good but still not good enough.

"Your turn," said Jolie as they carried on down the busy road.

Qie Xieling thought for a while and finally said, "Okay, I got it. You can ask."

Jolie already knew what Qie Xieling was thinking. She tsked before asking, "Does it transport people?"

Qie Xieling’s eyes widened as he answered reluctantly, "Yes."

Jolie laughed and said, "Is it a horse?" Qie Xieling felt like crying. He couldn’t help but accuse Jolie of cheating.

"You are cheating again. How could you have possibly known that?" he asked and Jolie ruffled his hair in revenge.

"You... you can’t touch a man’s head," he complained but that just fueled Jolie. She rubbed even harder before running off.

Qie Xieling looked at his dishevelled chicken head and couldn’t help getting angry. Before he knew it, the two of them were running around chasing each other.

After running around and having failed to catch Jolie, Qie Xieling was already aching all over. Without magic, his body was so weak and tired easily.

Jolie bent down and said, "Come up. I will carry you."

Qie Xieling didn’t even bet an eye. He jumped on Jolie’s back with no hesitation. "Are you kidding me? You are so lazy," said Yunning and Qie Xieling held on tightly while saying,

"Give me my magic back and I won’t be lazy."

Hearing his response, Yunning rolled her eyes before picking up her pace.

King Luo glanced down and before anyone knew it, he flew away without a word. Qie Xieling did notice him flying away but he couldn’t stop him to ask where he was going. He sulkily said to Jolie, "I want a horse or a carriage. My feet are sore."

"I would have bought it for you but the small town didn’t even have a horse to spare. I will buy it for you in the next town," she said and Qie Xieling chuckled softly while saying,

"You have a lot of money now, huh? I will depend on you from now on." 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Jolie swore she was raising a baby. At this age, he was still acting like this. "Do you want to mess with the system today? I am making it think that it’s haunted," she whispered.

Qie Xieling was a little worried that the system would hear them and Jolie could read him like a book, so she said, "I have my ways."
