Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 171: Hopelessly in love
Qie Xieling wasn’t even embarrassed that he was a big man being carried around. He was chatting it up with Jolie and joking around like everything was fine and dandy. After walking for a good twenty minutes a distant sound of hooves and wheels grew louder.
To their astonishment, King Luo had disappeared ahead and returned with a fleet of majestic stallions. The sight was overwhelming their sleek bodies glistening under the sun. Jolie always made fun of Qie Xieling about him being with Luo Muchen but now she truly understood the true depth of Luo Muchen’s feelings towards Qie Xieling. Even if his brain was all scrambled at this moment his heart was speaking volumes.
This surprising gesture, an unexpected display of affection left Yunning speechless. Now she understood what King Luo meant when he said she would make it up to her. She rushed over to him before pulling him into an embrace. "How did you know I was so exhausted? Thank you so much, your Majesty. You do have me in your heart," she said her eyes beaming.
King Luo who had definitely done this for someone else who is not her was stunned with the hug. He didn’t even have enough time to react.
When Qie Xieling saw it he pretended like it didn’t matter to him. Jolie was extremely good at antagonising people.
When she was assigned a horse she put Qie Xieling down on the ground and asked, "Do you know how to ride a horse?"
Qie Xieling who had never even ridden a pony whispered, "Why are you even asking me that?" He had no idea that the ultimate wingman..., sorry meant wing AI was already taking action.
"You can ride with me," she said and Qie Xieling didn’t refuse. Who else was he supposed to ride with?
Jolie pulled him up on the horse and Qie Xieling sat in behind her painting a harmonious image.
"You better hold on to me," he said and Qie Xieling did. He was really afraid he was going to fall thus he held on tight.
King Luo who had specifically brought the carriage for Eling was more than a little upset. He watched on as the two of them rode off into the distance like a pair of lovers destined to be together for the rest of their lives.
Yunning entered the luxurious carriage. When she saw the comfortable cushions and snacks she almost broke down in tears.
She grabbed a handful of the candy and ate it but her expression turned ugly as the pungent and spicy taste filled her mouth. She had just eaten garlic candy. How King Luo thought this tasted good enough to buy was ridiculous. It tasted so bad that she couldn’t help but pop her head outside the curtain of the carriage and ask.
"Your Majesty, why did you get garlic candy? It tastes awful," she said and Eling who was sitting on the horse laughed out loud.
He just recalled how he gave everybody garlic candy as wedding candy. He found that quite amusing and couldn’t help but laugh.
King Luo had no idea why he actually thought it was a good idea to buy them. Something in him told him to buy it when he saw an old lady peddling them on the side of the street.
He felt Eling would like it for some reason but now that he had bought it he felt stupid. He had no idea why he cared what Eling would like.
He glared at the two people sharing a horse and flew away again. Boran took out some money and paid the men who brought the horses and carriage. He got on his horse and followed everyone.
As their figures disappeared, the men headed back to the city all except one. A clear liquid covered the face and after a while, it dissipated revealing a face with a symbol associated with the monsteric order.
The man showed a slight smile before vanishing into thin air.

Qie Xieling sat comfortably by the crackling fire, leaning back against a tree while enjoying a hearty meal. The welcoming warmth of the flames soothed his tired body, and the aroma of the food filled the air, making his stomach rumble with anticipation.
The eccentric and ever-enthusiastic Jolie joined him by the fire. She sat down next to him, and a mischievous glint twinkled in her eyes.
Qie Xieling’s body froze having a very bad premonition. He uncomfortably shifted away only for Jolie to follow him
"What?" he asked after wiping his mouth and Jolie showed an impish grin while taking out a book from god knows where.
"You promised," she said and Qie Xieling glanced over at King Luo who was sitting with the other two having a serious discussion.
He bit his lips before whispering, "Not here," and got up.
When the two stood up King Luo’s gaze followed their figures but he didn’t say anything. He clenched and unclenched his fists his thoughts unknown.
Meanwhile, Qie Xieling sat down cross-legged on the cushion before continuing to eat.
"Don’t drop any food. You will bring ants in here," she said and Qie Xieling complained,
"You could have waited until I was done eating to do this but you just couldn’t wait. Whose fault is it if you find ants?... Just ask, I still need to take a bath in the warm spring."
Jolie clapped her hands together, her enthusiasm infectious. She pulled out a pen, ready to fire away with questions. "Alright, here we go! Question one: Your love interest walks into the room. How are you feeling?"
Qie Xieling, "..."
What sort of love quiz was this? It was like writing an exam and Qie Xieling was never a fan of exams.
"I feel nothing, next," he replied and Jolie closed the book shut before whacking his head with it.
"This auntie spent hours researching the most perfect test and you aren’t even taking it seriously. I hadn’t even read out the a b c d options yet," she said.
"Don’t call yourself that. It’s so weird," he replied regretting ever agreeing to this. Jolie read out the options and Qie Xieling finally picked one.
"Let’s go with A, I feel fine just a little excited... especially when Mu Mu notices me in a crowd. He doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t wave or anything like that but seeing him walking towards me I just feel happy," he explained slowly getting lost in his memories.
Jolie’s brows arched as she wrote down, ’Hopelessly in love. Can’t be saved.’
She cleared her throat before continuing with the next question.
