Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 129: ... arrange a marriage for me?"
Qie Xieling’s attention was instantly attracted by Bo Ailun. He let go of Luo Muchen and hugged Bo Ailun before ruffling his hair while saying, "You are old enough to get married now. You aren’t leaving this room tonight until you are engaged."
His words were met with jeers as the small crowd seemed to agree. Bo Ailun looked at the girls in the private room and said, "Who among you is willing to make me the luckiest man alive?" with a face full of smiles.
Bi Yu shook her head, Ah Cy laughed and Wei Qi raised her middle finger. Ah Cy and Wei Qi had been accepted to another university nearby so Bo Ailun invited them to his little soiree. "Damn, how disappointing," he said jokingly as Qie Xieling sat him down.
A few waiters brought in some drinks and the room became boisterous with the loud sounds of music deafening one’s ears.
It didn’t take long for Qie Xieling and Bo Ailun to get tipsy. The entire time Luo Muchen was silently sitting next to Qie Xieling limiting his intake when he could.
While they were enjoying themselves, Lee Ya was sitting in the car right outside the KTV. Beside her was her father dressed in a neat suit.
She had come to his office while he was working and demanded to speak to him. He ended his meeting with his subordinates early and came back to his office to coax his daughter.
When he got there she was sitting obediently on the couch which was unlike her. She had princess syndrome and would demand things but this time she was composed.
"What’s wrong this time? Did someone offend you or do you want Dad to buy you something," he asked as he unbuttoned his suit jacket.
He sat opposite her and a secretary walked in with a tray before pouring out two cups of tea.
After the secretary was gone she called out, "Dad."
Lee Bigen raised his brow wondering if pigs were flying or something because she seldom spoke to him respectfully. That could only be blamed on her mother.
"Can you arrange a marriage for me? It’s with the GameX heir, Qie Xieling," she said and Lee Bigen almost choked on his tea.
Who would have thought one day his daughter would suggest a financial marriage with his competitor? Well, calling them competitors was far-fetched because GameX had the majority of the market share both here and abroad. This was further worsened when they lost the government subsidies for the project.
The Lee family was still a giant as they were involved in other industries just not in the gaming industry. If the two families were to be joined by marriage it would be beneficial for both of them.
"You like him?" asked Lee Bigen and Lee Ya nodded her head.
"I will do whatever it takes to be with him. Dad will you help me?" she asked almost pleading.
Lee Bigen rubbed his upper lip and after thinking about it he asked, "Does he like you."
Lee Ya hesitated to answer but Lee Bigen needed to know that answer. "I don’t know how to proceed until you tell me the truth," he said and Lee Ya lowered her head while nervously picking at her nails.
"I... he treats me like a friend. He has a good impression of me though," she said her voice low.
"That’s good enough. You are obviously too young to marry but not too young for an engagement. The first thing is to change the dynamics of your relationship," he said before taking a sip of his steaming tea.
After that conversation in the afternoon, Lee Bigen rode with her to the place where Bo Ailun was having his birthday party. He took out a small zip-lock bag and gave it to her.
"It’s a single dose. That’s all you need. He will never suspect a thing especially if he is drunk. All you have to do is get caught in bed and I will take care of the rest," he said and Lee Ya smiled happily thinking her father was doing this because he truly loved her.
He did love her but he had his own reasons for wanting this marriage. He wanted power from the Qie family. This merger would undoubtedly give him enough power to get rid of the Lei family and finally divorce his wife with no consequences.
Once he gets rid of her he could finally be free to marry Luo Shih. He was very certain he could make her agree with his proposal and return to the time they first fell in love.
Lee Ya was completely unaware of all these complexities. She was walking up the stairs drawing attention everywhere she went.
As the door to the private karaoke room swung open, all eyes turned towards her stunning figure that walked in. Lee Ya was dressed to the nines in a breathtaking outfit that left everyone in awe. Her dress was a stunning shade of scarlet red, hugging her curves in all the right places and flowing gracefully to her ankles.
The dress was adorned with delicate lace and beading, shimmering under the dim lights of the room. Her long, flowing hair was styled in loose waves, cascading down her back in a perfect waterfall. As she made her way to the centre of the room, her classmates and friends couldn’t help but gape at her beauty.
Bo Ailun squinted his eyes as though scrutinising her. He turned to Qie Xieling and wanted to say, "I didn’t invite her," but Qie Xieling covered his mouth. The two half siblings’ gazes met with the ferocity in their eyes unmistakable.
Qie Xieling invited her over to sit on the chair right next to the four-seater couch they were sitting on. "Having being late, drink," he said pouring out a shot for her.
He knew if he didn’t do this Bo Ailun’s unrestrained tongue when tipsy would go on a rampage and ruin his own party. He had seen Bo Ailun and Lee Ya exchange words. It wasn’t pretty at all.
Lee Ya smiled slightly as she raised the shot glass. Like a proper lady, she downed that shot with her gaze locked on Qie Xieling the entire time.
Luo Muchen’s hand resting on the backrest of the couch right behind Qie Xieling moved and his fingers clutched Qie Xieling’s shoulder.
Qie Xieling subconsciously handed him the half-drunk beer in his hand. They had been sharing drinks like they were on a tight budget so when Luo Muchen touched him he just assumed that he wanted some.
Bo Ailun ordered a lot of food and drinks so no one restrained themselves. Lee Ya put on a fake smile but her mind was running wild, thinking of ways to give Qie Xieling the thing her father gave her.
