Reincarnated in the Alternate World, I'm A Demonic Lord as Well as a Villager-Chapter 623 - 319: Even If We’re Not Reading Serious Books, It’s Still a Book Club! (Part 2)
As breakfast time ended, Shami was preparing to leave the Demon King Castle when the Elf Maiden, who had been silent all along, suddenly pulled him aside.
"Lureya?"
The Elf Maiden said nothing and led Shami to the attic of the Demon King Castle.
"What’s going on?"
Worried, Shami gazed at the golden-haired girl in front of him, but her face, which was always lowered, kept him from seeing her expression.
The Elf Maiden’s shoulders trembled, and she burst into tears, hugging Shami tightly.
"Shami... I... I didn’t get a gift from Santa Claus... I’m the only one without a gift..."
The Elf Maiden lifted her little face, and pearly tears streamed down her cheeks like a broken string, soaking Shami’s chest.
"I used to get gifts before, why can’t I get them now... Is it because I’ve used too much Water Magic that I’m not considered a good child anymore... But all girls grow up and go through this stage, right..."
It seems she let slip something she shouldn’t have!
Shami was stunned for a moment and finally remembered what he forgot to do last night.
He actually forgot to put gifts in the flat golden-haired girl’s room!
Feeling apologetic, Shami looked at the golden-haired girl before him and gently patted her head.
"Alright, don’t cry like that, it’s just a gift."
The Elf Maiden continued clinging to Shami, sobbing like a child.
"But I’m the only one without a gift..."
"Last night, I stayed up all night lying in bed waiting for Santa to deliver presents... but my room was silent all night..."
"How obsessed with Santa Claus are you!"
Shami took a deep breath.
Luckily, he didn’t go last night; otherwise, he would’ve been caught on the spot.
"Shami, you got presents last night, right? The bad Demon King couldn’t possibly have Christmas presents, those were from us."
The Elf Maiden’s lips were rosy, and her little face was both aggrieved and sad.
"Even if Santa doesn’t come, the Demon King could pretend to be Santa and give me gifts..."
So, it turns out she’s crying her heart out because the Demon King didn’t give her a gift, too?
For a moment, Shami didn’t know what to say.
The flat golden-haired girl looked forlorn and teary but so adorable that he almost forgot she was sad.
Shami reached out to pinch the flat golden-haired girl’s cheek, unable to resist leaning down to give her a kiss on the lips.
"No... I’m still mad..."
The Elf Maiden pouted.
After a moment of silence, Shami pulled out the forgotten gift from the Demon King Ring.
"I’m sorry, actually I had prepared gifts for everyone, but Lureya’s gift was forgotten due to some unexpected events."
The Elf Maiden stared blankly at Shami’s face, her gaze falling on the gift box. She took it, and the waves of tears in her beautiful, bright eyes subsided a little.
"Really?"
"Yes. I’m sorry, Lureya..."
Shami gazed tenderly at the Elf Maiden’s cheek, surprised at his own gentle tone.
"So all the gifts were from you, Shami?"
"Of course. In this world, how could..." Shami replied, sticking to the truth but then changed his words: "Even Santa Claus sometimes forgets to give gifts. The Demon King’s gifts should be more appealing."
"It’s the final Chapter of the series!"
The Elf Maiden opened the gift box, and seeing the gift, her face lit up instantly.
Shami tilted his head back.
Is this gift that significant?
"Thank you, Shami."
The mist faded from the Elf Maiden’s eyes as she tiptoed and pressed her moist, pink lips against Shami’s.
The delightful kiss lasted for about a minute, after which the Elf Maiden suddenly pulled back, causing the entranced Shami to stumble forward.
"I’m heading off now. Lina and the others are probably still around. Once I show them this book, they’ll definitely chase after me to see the ending!"
"Is that really so important? Just seems like you want to show off. Perhaps we could kiss a bit longer? That seems more important."
Shami reminisced.
But the Elf Maiden had already run off. Shami stood there for a while, regretfully pounding the wall before leaving.
This kind of unintentional provocation is often unexpectedly damaging to the Demon King.
Christmas arrives at year’s end.
Apart from the goblins, leaders from all Demon Tribes gathered at the Demon King Castle.
Shami decided to take this opportunity to hold the annual summary meeting.
The year-end summary meeting was held in the open space outside the Demon King Castle, where demons could freely choose to attend or not, aside from the leaders of each tribe.
For such non-mandatory activities, Shami would usually choose to stay in the dormitory.
However, he clearly underestimated the demons’ enthusiasm.
By noon, before the afternoon meeting was set to start, a massive crowd of demons had already gathered outside the Demon King Castle.
"Lord Shami, there are too many demons! If this continues, a stampede could happen, causing demon casualties."
"That must not happen. If demons are to get injured, it must be in battle with the adventure teams."
Shami ordered Bone Frame to organize a skeleton squad to maintain order at the scene.
"Leave it to me."
Bone Frame ran off, and soon, hundreds of skeleton squads marched over from afar and quickly restored order at the scene.
Shami watched, surprised by their speed, and reflected on some recent interactions with the Skeleton Race, becoming increasingly puzzled.
