Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 329: Perfect Practice
"Ethan Sterling!"
Seraphina Redgrave rarely saw Ethan in such a state and quickly took out a bottle of water, unscrewed it, and handed it to him.
Ethan’s face was pale, his lips trembling slightly. He took the water bottle, but his hand was shaking so much that he almost dropped it.
Suddenly, his head began to ache.
He didn’t dare show that it was a headache and pretended it was an old injury flaring up.
"Are you okay?" Seraphina held his hand, worried, "Was I driving too fast just now?"
Why was he like this?
But then she gradually started to feel at ease; was it because the bumps in the passenger seat were more severe?
Ethan clenched his molars tightly, suppressing the avalanche of pain.
He placed the water bottle aside, his breath somewhat weak, "It’s nothing serious. Once you head south and I finish up here, I’ll just lie down in bed until I’m completely healed."
"..."
Clearly, he should be lying down already.
Seraphina unbuckled her seatbelt, leaned over, gently rubbed Ethan’s chest, and asked worriedly, "How about now? Feeling any better?"
"No problem, you go ahead with your tasks. You need to figure out how to park the car accurately in that spot. My people have prepared the escape space for you."
Ethan leaned back, pointing at a button, "This is the activation switch. Once pressed, the hidden space under the car will open for your escape."
"Has this car always had such an escape space?"
Seraphina asked.
"Yes."
"I see."
No wonder he wanted to give her this sports car.
The tycoons would certainly suspect Ethan of wanting her to escape and might guess there’s something off about the car, but they’d never imagine it originally had an escape feature.
Seraphina nodded, looking at Ethan, "You should get out now, just watch from there while I practice parking."
Now she needed to practice the final collision; if he stayed in the car, he might not be able to get out later.
Ethan didn’t insist on staying and pushed the car door open to step out.
As Seraphina’s car started, Ethan almost awkwardly turned around, staggering a few steps forward, his head splitting with pain.
He quickly took the medicine bottle from his pocket and poured the pills into his palm. His hand trembled so much that he could barely hold the bottle, the pills scattering on the ground, glaringly bright.
Ethan caught two between his fingers and popped them into his mouth, swallowing them dry, then crushed the remaining pills on the ground underfoot.
The night wind blew, carrying the powdered remains away, leaving no trace.
"Bang!"
A loud noise erupted ahead.
Seraphina drove the car straight into a specially processed rock, softened on purpose, though it appeared unchanged from the outside.
Even so, the front of the sports car ended up with a small dent. She quickly pressed a mechanism, causing the driver’s seat to slide back rapidly, and an opening just big enough for a person appeared beneath her feet.
Without hesitation, Seraphina jumped down.
Soon, her feet hit the ground. She turned around to see faint light illuminating the empty space, where a few workers were digging a road. They froze upon her sudden arrival.
Done in one go.
Seraphina twisted her neck, smiled with satisfaction. Above her, the sports car shifted aside, no longer leaving her in darkness, and she climbed up in one motion.
Covered in some dirt, Seraphina stood in the hole’s opening, brushed off the dust from her clothes, and looked up to see Ethan walking towards her.
The temperature was exceptionally low now, and under the dim sky, Ethan’s figure seemed even more upright, his clothes fluttering in the wind.
Seraphina noted his complexion looked much better than before—it must have been the bumps in the car, she thought, relaxing internally, and ran towards Ethan, "How was that?"
Watching her, Ethan saw the light in her eyes like stars in the night, gazing silently.
For the time she spent at the villa, even though she promised and smiled at him, her eyes had never shone so brightly.
She said it was voluntary, but she wanted out after all.
Ethan gazed at her intently and grinned, his voice defiant, "After all, I trained you, couldn’t be bad."
This man...
Seraphina chose not to argue, turning to gaze at the sky, "I’ll practice a bit more."
"Alright."
Ethan nodded.
Seraphina opened the car door and got back in. This time, she started practicing the entire process.
With the speed maxed out, the red streaked through the small world like a flame, the precision of the collisions remarkably high, then descending into the hidden space.
Again and again, Seraphina repeated the process.
Until daylight broke, she kept practicing. By the end, every move was executed with flawless precision.
Standing atop a hill, she watched the sports car race wildly along the desolate road. Though the speed was high and conditions dangerous, not once did she falter; she quickly mastered the technique, an unblemished performance.
Even his usually picky self couldn’t find fault.
As if it had been unnecessary for him to insist she practice more.
Ethan had chosen a clever escape route, where there was no traffic at night and very little during the day, so even without road closures, their actions wouldn’t be exposed.
Seraphina spent nights practicing and the days resting.
She had two nights left.
Once the second sun rose, everything would end.
...
Tonight, her performance was about to begin.
Even in the dim light, Seraphina’s last practice was flawless and precise. As she climbed out from the underground, her left shoulder still ached a bit.
Her healing was swift, but days of repetitive practice strained the shoulder.
She approached the car wanting to practice more, but a pair of warm hands enveloped hers. She looked up at Ethan, standing by her with eyes filled with unreadable emotions.
"Let me practice a little more. It’s still early," Seraphina said. Earlier, at this hour, she was still practicing.
"No need, the car’s front is quite damaged and needs restoring." Ethan’s voice was deep, "Your skill is excellent; rest now so you’ll have enough energy to face them tonight."
Seraphina pondered a moment; it made sense, like emptying one’s mind before a test.
Nodding, she followed Ethan to a nearby parked black car. They got in, and the driver started the vehicle, driving off into the distance.
