Chapter 52: A fallen Barony.

She landed on the ground.

Her blade was still held tightly in her grip.

Looking forward, she could see Yanal charging towards her.

Surrounding the body of his blade were purple flames.

’A fire sword master? First time I’m seeing one.’

Ava took a step back, her body now enveloped in white mana.

**Baam!**

Yanal made the first move, zooming forward with the tip of his blade aimed at Ava.

Of course, she reacted, using her blade to immediately counter the attack. The moment her white aura touched the flames, it dispersed.

But Yanal was very much expecting that to happen; he clenched his fist, ready to land a direct punch at Ava.

Reading him, Ava kicked the side of his leg, causing Yanal to lose his footing, only to be met with a knee to the face.

His jaw broke as blood immediately dropped to the ground.

Before he could fall completely, Ava picked him up by the collar and pulled him back up, which was followed by a knee to the stomach, and then a punch to the face, before finally, Yanal dropped to his knee.

Looking at the ground with a shocked expression as his jaw danced around his mouth, Yanal whispered to himself...

’W...why...can’t I move? My limbs...t..hey won’t respond to me. Every single one of those attacks felt like a thousand punches in one. Is this the strength of a diamond rank?’

Suddenly, he felt Ava grabbing his hair, tilting his eyes towards her gaze before she gently placed her blade close to his neck.

’Am I...going to die? Like...this? Lord Neuk. I really couldn’t do anything to the very end... I’m sorry for being a coward...but I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die...I don’t want to die.’

Tears began to drop from his eyes.

"Ahurrrhhhhh!"

He tried to cry out loud, but due to his damaged jaw, all he could let out was a painful squeal for help.

Additionally, the sound of people running began to echo, screams of soldiers dropping to the ground.

"You wish to live, do you not?" Ava asked calmly.

Yanal was confused, his tears stopping momentarily.

"My master always taught me. The three important things in this world are power, information, and money. One cannot gain all these without connection and resources."

Yanal listened.

"I wish my master would become that person. And so I ask you, if you wish to live, as a knight, would you die as your master’s servant, or as my master’s resource? I shall grant you the honor of choosing."

Yanal’s eyes widened in surprise, yet that didn’t stop the tears from running down his cheeks.

For as long as he could remember, he had been serving under the Neuk barony, and every time felt worse than the last.

He never had a father growing up, which was why he looked to Neuk as a father figure, despite all the abuse and insults he received.

It didn’t take long for it to turn into hatred clouded in fear.

If only he could run away and leave his responsibilities behind him.

That would also mean leaving the men that placed their trust in him.

He couldn’t.

And now, this young woman is giving him a chance to redeem himself with another person, in exchange for his life.

He could leave his responsibilities behind him and not feel any guilt?

The more he thought about it, the more he cried silently.

He nodded his head.

Seeing this, Ava smiled a bit.

"I can tell you have the heart of a knight. I do not have any regret in saving your life. I know my master wouldn’t either."

She stepped back. "Your lord dies this night. Tell your men to stand down. If they surrender peacefully, my soldiers won’t harm them."

Yanal found the strength to stand up, using his hand to pack up his jaw.

"We should heal you up first. Come with me."

Meanwhile, inside the mansion, Neuk was watching the entire battle unfold from the window.

Buildings were burning to the ground, and soldiers were dropping like flies.

The sight was unbelievable to Neuk. Not once did he ever think this could happen to his barony.

"No no no no, no, what’s happening right now? Why the hell is that bastard attacking my barony? Wait! Did they align themselves with another barony? That can’t be it, right? No barony under Olsen would dare attack me."

Taking a closer look, Neuk noticed something. His soldiers were getting cornered and jumped. Hell, not a single soldier from the Montclair Barony had been killed yet.

It was like, they knew where and when to attack, especially with the thunder arrows landing in the center of the battle.

’They also have a mage?!’ Neuk was losing his mind, gripping the curtains so tightly to let go of his anger and anxiousness.

Out of nowhere.

_bang bang_

There was a knock on the door.

Neuk looked at the door, his eyes sneering a bit, "Yes, who is it?"

A female voice followed, "Lord Neuk, we had bad news, can I come in?"

"What? Y-yeah sure...come in."

The moment the door opened, Alaric walked into the room with a smile on his face.

"No...it’s you..."

Scared, Neuk took multiple steps back before his back was pressed against the wall.

"In the flesh, Alaric Montclair. Bet you weren’t expecting this, were you?".

Neuk looked to his sides, as if wishing for his men to walk through the walls and come save him.

"What do you want from me? Attacking a fellow barony under the same leader is against the law, you know this, do you want your land confiscated?!"

"Oh? I wouldn’t worry about that, if I were you. You’d be surprised how easily I can manipulate the law into my favour."

Alaric replied, before sitting down on the chair.

"Are you mocking me?"

"No of course not, I wanna kill you, not mock you, silly."

"Y...ou want to? Who the hell do you think you are?"

"Why did you attack my warehouse Neuk, I’d like to think about losing the bet, you would find something better to do, but you decided to mess with my hard work. Even if the world is ending today, I swear killing you will still be my priority."

Neuk gritted his teeth in anger.

"Is that so...?" He whispered.

Before Alaric could speak, he looked to the side after a notification popped up.

[You have gained 3.6 million cp after killing 120 soldiers.]

’I guess the rest have surrendered.’ He gave a small smile.

From the moment his soldiers began attacking, the notification had kept popping up non stop.

But now, it was a single one, which could only mean, there were no more deaths to be recorded, and the rest had surrounded.

That was his initial plan, to draw the soldiers of the Neuk barony to his side.

Alaric had remembered seeing one of the soldiers before and using his profile window on them.

It should.

[Title: Commander

Wants to leave the Neuk Barony and willing to serve anyone worthy.]

Alaric did not recall the name of this soldier, but he knew he had to be part of the Neuk Barony.

And he told Ava before heading out,

"Look out for a soldier with black hair and green eyes, when you battle them, make him feel helpless, and then offer him to join your side. If he agrees, you should be able to tell he is honest, tell him to make the rest of his soldier’s surrender to us. He should be a commander too."

And she did, resulting in his plan completely succeeding.

"It is over. There’s no use fighting Neuk, your barony is done for. Give up." Said Alaric, with his legs crossed on the chair.

"What?"

"Your soldiers have surrendered, you have no one fighting for you, don’t you get it?"

Alaric stood up and began moving closer to Neuk,

"Not only are you a horrible leader, you lack empathy. This is why your soldiers can be so easily swayed. Talk about ntr, you deserve every bit of it."

"The hell do you know about leading a barony....?!"

"Let this follow you to hell, the kid who single handedly took down a barony of 300 soldiers with only 40, stands before you, Alaric Montclair."

Neuk was sweating profusely, his eyes body already shaking.

"Like hell you’ll kill me! Go away!"

He was about to do a surprise attack, the grin on his face gave it away.

Secretly, Neuk had been powering up an artificial ring in his hand, and was ready to hit Alaric with it when something happened.

From the window behind him, Ava busted out, using her blade to slice both his arms before landing beside Alaric.

"Ahhhhh! My arrrrrmmmmmmmmm!"

Neuk cried.

Rolling on the floor as the excruciating pain continued to take over him.

Alaric watched with a cold expression, his hands now deep in his pocket.

"Sorry I took so long. Shall I dispose of him?" Ava spoke.

"No wait!" Neuk spoke through the tears, " What do you want?! Money! Land! I’ll give you anything you want, just please spare my life."

"Can you give back the lives of the innocent soldiers that died tonight?" Alaric asked.

Silence took over.

"Kill him."

"As you wish!"

"Ahh nooo!"

With a single swing of her blade, the Neuk’s head went rolling on the floor.
