Reincarnated as the Baron's son: My Infinite Card Upgrade System-Chapter 50: Revenge
"Neuk Barony..."
Alaric murmured in his mind, staring directly at the flames.
"I thought the fact I managed to kill their soldiers would make them think twice before attempting anything against us again... but I guess I was wrong... those bastards..."
As he was thinking to himself, Ava suddenly spoke behind him.
"There’s no way he would do something like this. Attacking a fellow Barony under the same laws is disobeying the order from the Count. Neuk isn’t stupid enough..."
It hit her.
The people who attacked didn’t mention who they were; in fact, they were keen on keeping it hidden even after she asked.
"No way... he did it..."
"That bastard! Master! Please don’t tell me you plan on just letting this go! They have to pay for this."
Those were Aurora’s words as she looked to her master.
They waited for his response, Ava and Laura both having their eyes focused on him.
"Ava," Alaric called out.
"Y-yes."
"How long would it take to reach the County by horseback?"
"A... bout two days, three at most," she replied.
"And he’ll be expecting it next tomorrow, not a day later. We need to get it moving today, or my sister’s head would be sent to me. Well, that means I have only three days to deliver it to him. In the meantime..."
Alaric’s eyes glowed a bit, "Gather the soldiers, we are going to destroy the Neuk Barony. And bring it to the ground."
Ava gasped. "Wait! Lord Alaric, think about this, if the Count finds out—"
"Gather the soldiers..."
"Yes, my lord..." Ava gently stood up from the ground, her blade clutched in one hand as she turned around slowly.
Leaving just Alaric, Hina, who was still unconscious, and his summons.
They were all quiet, not knowing what to say when their master was obviously raging.
Alaric, on the other hand, was focusing on something else entirely.
Right in front of him was a card he had asked his system to bring out.
---
[Time Reversal Domain]
[Rank: Bronze Rank
Level: 0/10... {35,909 Cp to fully upgrade}]
[Description: This card allows you to open a small domain where you can reverse time to take equipment back to what it once was.
Note: You need a huge amount of mana to maintain the domain and it can’t be used more than once a day.]
{500,000 Cp to purchase.} {Current Cp: 200,000 Cp.}
---
Alaric bit his lower lip in frustration. He didn’t have enough Cp to purchase the card, which meant there was a high chance he wouldn’t be able to send the resources to the Count that very day.
One day less than what he initially agreed on, and he knew his sister wouldn’t be spared.
"There has to be a way..."
He thought to himself, and indeed, there was.
The system opened up a new page.
---
[Reminder: Your quest is still active.]
[For every kill you get, you make 30,000 Cp.]
---
His eyes widened. This was it, exactly what he needed.
The Neuk Barony had over 400 soldiers, some of which were Platinum Ranks. It would take hours for Alaric and his soldiers to dispose of them in just a day.
So Alaric decided to take a gamble.
He looked at Aurora and said, "We have a change of plan. Go to the County and make sure my sister doesn’t get killed."
Aurora was a bit surprised.
"You want me to kidnap her?" she asked.
"No. All I want you to do is watch over her. Until I bring the product the County wants, keep her safe. Can you do that?"
Aurora knew why Alaric chose her specifically for this. Her speed was outstanding. A journey that would take some three days, she could accomplish in less than a few hours.
"Fine, as you wish, master. I shall report to you when I get there."
"Get going then."
"R... right." Aurora stole a quick glance at Laura, who was smiling, thanking her stars she wasn’t the one going.
Scoffing, Aurora turned around and took a little step forward, only to zoom off like she was never there.
With her gone, Alaric focused on Laura, his eyes cold as he uttered:
"Let’s get this over with."
...
Later in the evening...
Alaric stood before his father. Ava accompanied him.
"You’re being serious, aren’t you, Alaric?" asked Rashin as he stared at his son with a remorseful look.
"I wouldn’t joke about such a thing."
Rashin sighed. "Ava, and you are also onboard with this?" Rashin shifted his attention to Ava.
To him, Ava was just like his daughter; her opinion held the same weight as Alaric’s.
Looking back at the Baron with a calm face, she responded, "If action isn’t taken, we don’t know what the Neuk Barony will do next."
"Ava..."
"In the letter, it explains how the Neuk Barony attacked the Montclairs. It’s an appeal: after the death of Neuk, the Montclairs should be paid compensation for the loss of our treasures via adding the Neuk land to our own."
Rashin was flabbergasted.
"Are you insane?! You want to merge two Baronies together?! There’s no way the Count would agree to this! Never!" he yelled.
"If he doesn’t agree, I’ll gladly live by that. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try regardless. I’ll be going now; please be sure to deliver the message to the Viscount first."
Alaric walked out of the door, with Ava following behind him.
It was time!
Outside the Montclair mansion stood 48 soldiers, each one of them ranked Gold or Platinum. None were below.
Their faces were etched with conviction.
To them, this wasn’t just any battle. Sure, they were here because of the orders given by Alaric. But deep down, they had always wanted to end the Neuk Barony.
Years of bullying and oppression from Lord Neuk had made their hatred so deep, it couldn’t be easily swayed.
Finally, someone had decided to take the first step toward revenge, and all of them were more than ready to follow through, even with the odds stacked against them.
And the man who would be leading them was none other than the one who once held the title of the Barony’s joke: Alaric Montclair.
The sun was going down, and he stood before them, dressed in all black.
Not only were the soldiers surprised, but they were also impressed to see their lord looking exactly like a warrior.
Ava and Eric stood beside him. While Eric was in full body armor, Ava merely needed her blade.
"I’m sure you are all wondering why I have called upon you this evening," Alaric began.
"Your questions and confusion are justified but also sad. We, the Montclair Barony, were known to be peaceful as we were useless. The small dogs are always getting bullied. We had no respect from our peers, and neither did we deserve any. We were weak! Spineless! Everything a failure stood for."
He moved to the side a bit.
"But over the last couple of months, I have watched us move from just a huge plot of land with wooden buildings to a strong and productive Barony. Yes, we, the Montclairs, are finally claiming our worth.
It’s no wonder people envy us now. Speaking of people, I mean the Neuks. Time and time again, he has continued to give us reasons to hate him. I, Alaric Montclair, despise that man! And I do not intend to hide it! And I’m sure you all feel the same way I feel!"
The soldiers nodded, frowns forming on their faces.
"Our mining project, the one we worked hard for, that we hustled for day and night, was attacked today after Neuk decided to send some soldiers to attack it!"
"That bastard!"
"To hell with him!"
"Damn that guy! Why?!"
"I knew you wouldn’t disappoint me. Unlike before, we have power now. Yes! Each one of you is currently Gold-ranked or Platinum, and that’s more than enough to completely clear out the entire Neuk Barony!"
And he was right. Most of the soldiers in Neuk were barely Gold-ranked, not to speak of Platinum.
"Tonight, we attack the Neuk Barony. Kill any who resist, spare any who surrender, and finally, do not harm the citizens. As I say these words, I ask:Are you with me?!"
"Yessssssss! All for Montclair!"
"For Montclair!!!"
They chanted with roars.

Alaric stared at the notification, his mind flashing back to when he was in the military.
If there was one thing he was fully aware of, it was how war took place.
He was more than ready to spill some blood and equally as ready to take some.
"Lord Alaric, they are ready. We await your orders," said Eric.
"You know your duty. Take five soldiers and evacuate as many people from the Barony as possible. Ava... kill them all."
Those were Alaric’s orders, and neither of them had any objections to them.
