Chapter 34: Mind communication II

He clicked the button.

[You have successfully purchased the mind communication card.]

[Card is now available for upgrade.]

Alaric smiled a bit. The card was dancing in front of him, only a measly amount of 200 EP to upgrade the card from bronze to silver.

He only needed the card to communicate with one person; thus, he never really saw any reason as to why he should upgrade it.

With the card now in his possession, Alaric stared at Aurora.

『Testing, testing... Is it working? Can you hear me?』

Whatever he thought in his head was immediately sent to Aurora.

"Ohhhh, I can hear you in my head, Master!" Aurora spoke out with a smile.

『Great. Now you try speaking to me without your mouth. Ready?』

Aurora immediately had a serious expression on, as if she was about to face one of her greatest challenges.

『C—Can you hear me too?』

"Awesome. It worked. So this should be a good way for us to communicate, even if you’re at the other end of the world," Alaric said, standing up from the bed to walk towards his working table.

Aurora watched as he walked away, and then, from nowhere—

"Master, I’m curious about something. Why do you need me to infiltrate the Neuk barony?" she asked innocently.

Alaric paused upon hearing the question.

There were two things he realized after spending a while in Montclair and working on the mining ground.

One, leaving the fact the Duchess of Lorik, Meren Everstaine, was a very close friend with his mom, Kika Montclair, hence why she was able to become a Baroness.

Meren had basically been doing way more than she needed to do.

In such a way that, the issue with the mining ground shouldn’t have been brought up to the Duke directly. The Viscount should have been the one to settle it, since they were under his jurisdiction.

But that wasn’t the case...

Meren got involved directly, which was extremely rare from a Duke.

Hence Alaric’s confusion. There was no way the other Barons under Meren’s same rule didn’t see it as a means of challenge or something.

If he was able to at least understand why Neuk hated Rashin so much and predict whatever plans they wanted to cook up, he would be able to counter them.

Secondly, while he was exploring the mining ground, he got information that they had broken into the second layer.

The second layer had more crude oil, but the thing was, it was so spread apart that it had touched Neuk’s land, even though he wasn’t aware of it.

There might be a chance Neuk wasn’t aware of this, and if that’s the case, it’s all fine. And if it’s not, it could later come back to bite him in the ass.

Alaric turned around and smiled at Aurora. "You just make sure you relay every juicy secret to me, okay?"

Aurora was confused, but questioning her master had never crossed her mind before.

She instantly nodded her head, allowing her tail to wag behind her as her cleavage bounced with every single movement she made.

Later that day

Alaric was back at the blacksmith shop.

He stood in front of the man, his top tied around his waist, leaving his bare chest exposed.

He wasn’t necessarily muscular, and yet, his build wasn’t something to overlook. In his previous life, he was a soldier, meaning working out was one of his many daily routines.

So even after arriving in such a strange world, he still worked out out of habit, turning his host’s body from a potbelly to a fitting chest and slim gut.

Both Ava and Hina couldn’t disagree about how hot Alaric looked carrying the hammer on his shoulder while heading towards the fire this fast.

Ava was able to maintain her composure with only red cheeks. Hina, on the other hand, had begun to drool from the mouth.

Not even hiding it.

[Notice! You have successfully gained knowledge on blacksmithing.]

Alaric’s eyes brightened with joy. "I have never been more grateful to have any skill like I am right now," he said excitedly.

Everything he needed to know about blacksmithing was transferred to his head. Almost like he learned blacksmithing worth 50 years in under one minute.

Truly a skill Alaric never regretted buying.

"Okay, old man..." Alaric was now looking at Johnny. "Since you decided you wanted to be the one to watch me instead, then can you at least teach me the little steps I need to do?"

The old man laughed.

"Why do you think I refused Hina to come near you? Lord Alaric, you claimed to know exactly what to do, so do it. Without any help whatsoever."

Alaric’s anger rose so much, you could almost feel the red toxic gas leaving his body.

"So I have to do everything myself?" he asked with a nervous look on his face.

"Yep."

"From scratch?"

"Yes."

"Not even going to give me an instruction?"

"Not even that."

Silence took over.

In that moment, Alaric wanted nothing more than to slam the man’s head into the fireplace and watch him scream for help.

Nothing was going according to plan, but at least his plan was going forward.

There was no time to waste. One month was so close to ending. The roads needed to be made.

Alaric sat down on the chair, his hand grabbing the hammer as he raised it up—

"Fine! I’ll do it myself!"

—Clank!

---

A few hours later.

"Ahhhhhhh! What the hell?! Why won’t this fuckin’ metal take the fuckin’ shape?!"

"Damnit! Another failure!"

"Ahhhhhhhh, curse you, Zeus! Is this how you face me?"

Ava and the rest could hear Alaric scream with frustration from inside the workshop.

While the old man wasn’t the least bit bothered about it, Ava and Hina were most definitely worried.

"I... I think he is having a hard time," Hina was the first to speak, though her voice wasn’t loud enough. She didn’t want to risk Johnny getting mad at her again.

"The young lord is a man. He understands every good thing comes from a trying effort."

That was Johnny’s response.

Wise words, and yet, Ava couldn’t care less about it.
