Chapter 35: Blacksmith.

Failure...

After failure...

After failure...

Alaric collapsed to the ground, sweating like a dying pig as he could barely wrap his grip around the hilt of the hammer.

The workshop temperature was high, and Alaric, being stuck in the room for so long, began to feel dizzy after a couple of hours.

Sure, he had the knowledge needed to make the kind of equipment he needed, but he lacked the skill—by a lot.

Now lying on the ground, Alaric tried to catch his breath, constantly breathing heavily.

’Dammit, why is this so damn hard?!’

He opened his eyes, now focusing his gaze on the ceiling, steam taking over every corner of the room.

’Tsk! I hate stress so much!’

Alaric sat upright, looking at the door for a while to check if anyone was there, before he turned his gaze back.

’Carrier.’

[You called for the carrier.]

’Give me a potential card to help me here. If I keep going at this rate, I’ll definitely exhaust myself before I can finish up anything.’

[Request confirmed. The carrier will help you since you lack the dedication for hard work.]

After making its remark, the system brought out a new card for Alaric to see...

[Blacksmith Skill Card.]

The card hovered in front of him.

’Question...’

[...]

’Been meaning to ask for a while, but could it be possible I have a card for everything?’

[You have an infinite layer of cards for realistic, already existing concepts.]

’If I wanted a card for a big dick?’

[Would you like to purchase it?]

’A card for castle summoning...’

[Would you like to purchase it?]

’Amazing... Makes me want to know the limit of this thing...’ Alaric said to himself.

His curiosity was heightened, but he knew there were better things to do. Time was wasting.

Having 67,000 CPS, Alaric purchased the Blacksmith Card worth 15,000 CPS and proceeded to upgrade it to Gold rank, costing another 24,000 CPS.

Once he had done that, he upgraded the hammer and table via their cards, upgrading them both to Gold ranks, costing an additional 20,000 CPS.

While the Blacksmith Card now allowed him to be an expert blacksmith, the hammer and table now had attributes such as fast work and immediate forging.

—Baam!

Alaric began.

Firstly, he used another work tool to draw the shape of the equipment he wanted to make and then proceeded with the rest.

Once done, he grabbed a clean iron and placed it on the table. This iron had gone through melting and hardening, already having the shape he was looking for.

"Here goes..."

Clank!

With a single impact, the metal glowed and instantly took a new form, transforming into an iron rod with a flat mouth, capable of flattening the ground.

"It worked," Alaric blurted out calmly. "This is far better than I thought. Why didn’t I think of this earlier?"

He grabbed another piece of iron and did the exact same thing.

After a few hours, Alaric had made nothing less than 30 iron pieces of equipment, each one made of the finest materials. It wasn’t an exaggeration to say they were glowing.

---

Ava and Hina were walking around the shop, clearly worried about what Alaric was doing in there.

She knew she had arrived with Alaric in the morning, and now it was turning dark. They had basically spent the entire day.

What if something had happened to him in there? A blacksmith workshop was filled with a lot of dangerous equipment.

Ava finally had enough.

"I’m going in there," she said, veering around, about to head toward the workshop.

Hina tried to stop her but was cut off when they heard the door open.

They all paused, including the old man.

From within the workshop, Alaric walked out, his face and body covered in charcoal. He looked half-dead, half-smug.

His eyes were set on the old man from the very start; the girls didn’t matter—not now.

One step after the other, he closed the space, and then...

—Shonk!

He placed the equipment on the table.

"Well then... Check it. Meet your standards?"

Alaric asked, more of a flex than a genuine question.

Johnny smirked. "I will."

He looked down at the equipment, and like a shock, Johnny flinched.

As if having a stroke, he pointed at the equipment. "H-How... W...Where did you find such high-quality equipment? And... And you said you haven’t done this before. How were you able to do it without destroying the material? Not even a single scratch?"

Ava instantly looked at the equipment, a smile showing on her face, one that mirrored how proud she was.

Hell, even Hina was shocked at how high-quality Alaric’s work was.

It was the dream level most blacksmiths aspired to reach. And Alaric, the joke of the barony, achieved it in less than a day.

"Uhn? What do you mean? Does it meet your standards or not?"

Johnny suddenly lowered his head.

"Please forgive me, Lord Alaric. I shouldn’t have judged you so easily. You are exceptionally talented—one of a kind. I doubt even I can reach this level of perfection. No, I can’t ever."

Hina was shocked. There was no way her master was saying something like that to another person.

"Not many people can do something this perfect. I have no words to describe it. I feel... Embarrassed to have ever doubted your work."

Alaric listened with a serious face.

"Please, would you consider taking my student as yours? In return, I’ll forever give you anything from my store for free."

(Free!)

The word rang inside Alaric’s ears.

Instantly, he grabbed Hina by the waist and shoved her close, his arms wrapped around her.

"Of course. If it’s what you truly want, who am I to reject such an offer? I have to admit it will be stressful on my part, but hey, anything for you."

Ava sighed at the side before shaking her head.

"You really will? Without asking why?" Johnny raised his head to look at Alaric.

"I have no problem helping my subject," Alaric said, looking down at him, a smile on his face as if he were some kind of well-known celebrity.

Hina, on the other hand, had no idea what she had gotten herself into.
