Reincarnated as the Baron's son: My Infinite Card Upgrade System-Chapter 33: Mind communication
"I’m sorry? I’m not sure I understood you well. Mind repeating?" Johnny spoke, his eyebrow twitching and feet shaking.
"Uhmm..." Hina was knelt in front of the old man, a nervous look on her face as she kept averting her gaze.
"T...the thing is..." she stammered.
"Go on, don’t be shy..." Alaric was standing right behind her, his hand rubbing her shoulder with a weird smile on his face.
Like a demon watching its prey, Alaric made sure he was right beside Hina all the way.
He waited... waiting for her to spill out her words.
"Lord Alaric wants to have special equipment made... I was hoping I’d do it for him, by myself," she managed to let out.
Johnny raised a brow. "So? I see no problem with that."
"Yes, and..."
Hina paused, stylishly looking at Alaric, who was smiling back at her.
"...I want us to do it for free."
Like a sudden shock, Johnny gripped his chest, barely breathing. "W...what did you say?!"
Hina froze, unable to even raise her head to look at her boss.
For a blacksmith, being paid for their act of service was more of an honorable act than for learning. Having a blacksmith commission for you with no reward was viewed as disrespect.
"You would have me waste my resources for free? As my student, I am disappointed in whatever rubbish just sprouted out from your mouth!" Johnny yelled, his eyes glued to Hina.
Since Alaric was a noble, the old man knew he couldn’t talk directly to him. So instead, he planned on unleashing his growing anger on his student, Hina.
"Take back your words..." Johnny spoke with a cold voice.
If Hina could soil her pants, she definitely would. No one scared her more than her own master.
Until...
"Pardon me, I don’t mean to interrupt your family meeting... But then... is there an issue with having you make me something for free?" Alaric suddenly chimed in.
Just as soon as Alaric spoke, Johnny turned his crazy stare toward him.
"..."
"And I know your response already, so you don’t need to answer."
Alaric moved forward, standing in front of Hina.
"Lord Alaric, I beg you not to get involved with this... As a blacksmith—"
"You deserve a reward for hard work. I know. Hell, I know it’s not about the reward but more about the worth of the person you are trusting with your work... correct?"
Johnny was a bit surprised. Those were not the words he expected to hear from the joke of the barony.
"Yes..." he replied.
"I know I don’t have the best reputation with you, and I probably can’t ever convince you of this. That said, I’m still willing to try."
Alaric stretched his hand forward. "What if I do the work myself? All I need are the instructions and Hina by my side. If I am able to create the tool that fits your rating, I can have it for free, and if I can’t, I’ll retire as the son of the Baron and be your slave forever."
Johnny’s eyes widened.
[The old man is convinced.]

"Are you being for real right now?" Ava whispered, moving closer to Alaric.
Even Hina was shocked, evident from how she couldn’t keep her eyes off him.
"I apologize, but my lord is not in the right state of mind right—"
Before Ava could complete her words, Alaric covered her mouth with his hand and grabbed her by the waist before pulling her closer.
Her ass pressed against his crotch, allowing him to rest his jaw on her shoulder, so he could get a good look at the old man’s face.
"I have never been more serious about anything in my life. I refuse to look back, not now, not after I’ve taken so many steps. What do you say? Do I have your word?!"
—Silence.
"Hahahah!" Johnny laughed out loud from nowhere, his hand wrapped around his stomach.
"Incredible. I guess the rumors were true. Lord Alaric Montclair really has changed." Johnny rubbed his jaw with a bold smile, his anger completely vanishing.
"I’m impressed and curious. Having the son of the Baron working for me doesn’t sound like such a bad thing. We have a deal, young lord."
"Perfect. You won’t regret this." Alaric smiled.
Completely forgetting he still had Ava in a child hold, her cheeks red as she nearly died from embarrassment.
After successfully making the owner of the blacksmith shop agree to his needs, he decided to come back the next day and start fresh.
He left the head of the knights at the mining ground so they could keep working the raw materials there until the roads were ready for use.
Now inside his room, Alaric made Aurora sit down in front of him, his hand on his lap as he sat at the edge of the bed.
"How long do you think it will take you?" Alaric asked.
Aurora looked up at him, a smile on her face as she responded, "For me to infiltrate Neuk Baron? Hmm, a few minutes, I’m not sure."
"I see..." Alaric placed his hand under his jaw in thought. "That should be enough. I need you to help me do a quick survey on whatever that man is planning. In a few weeks, a month will be over. I don’t want to take any chances."
"I’ll do my best to please you as always..." Aurora responded as she rubbed her hands on his thighs.
"Since you’ll be going, we need a way I can communicate with you more efficiently..."
He turned his gaze to the left, the card hovering beside him—
