Reborn as the Third Prince: To Build and Conquer my way to Royalty.-Chapter 70: Making Zani queen, before I.
Chapter 70: Making Zani queen, before I.
Fully understanding what her lordship was planning to do, Zani was one hundred percent ready to follow him down that path.
As he had told her, before he becomes king, he intended on turning this county into a kingdom itself, making the kingdom an empire.
Once that was achieved, he would then take over the throne of Verdenez while making Zani the queen of the new kingdom.
A way to repay her for being by his side—or so he says.
But Zani understood the real reason.
Sylus was aware of how bad her childhood was; in a way, he probably felt bad and wanted to use this as a means to kindle it.
Typical Sylus thing to do.
Although Zani was still unsure about the whole becoming-a-queen thing, well, more like Sylus didn’t give her a chance to be.
Just thinking about the fact that she could be a queen in the near future was downright going to cause her a panic attack.
All that responsibility, she knew nothing about ruling a kingdom.
The little she knew was from constantly staying near Sylus while he was reading.
Hopefully, he changes his mind.
Then again, she wasn’t sure she wanted that either. If she became queen, she could easily give her mother the lifestyle she had always wanted, a world free from suffering and discrimination.
Becoming queen meant she had the power to do that.
And to add to that, she would be a higher noble as well, meaning there was a chance she could be suited to marry Sylus. Well, for the most part, whether he allowed that or not was a different case.
In truth, Zani was slowly realizing something.
She may actually be in love with the young prince. That was only a theory because even then, Zani still asked the same question:
What exactly does it mean to love someone?
...
After they discussed their plan in the alleyway, Sylus insisted on Zani taking him to where her mother was staying, before they headed to the mansion.
Of course, Zani tried to rebel at first, but even she had her limits when it came to Sylus.
Thus, she couldn’t say no.
A few moments after that, they arrived at Zani’s house, where her mother lived and also where she grew up.
The Lower City had four districts, each one ruled by a different faction of the Red Vipers. This particular district was called the Blue District.
Unknowingly, the man Sylus had killed at the tavern just so happened to be the leader of the faction for this district.
Fortunately.
Standing in front of the house, while people roamed behind him, Sylus stared at the broken-down building for a while.
It was small for starters—looked to be made from twigs rather than wood. It was more impressive that it hadn’t collapsed yet.
That was what he thought until he looked to the side of the house and noticed the multiple planks holding the house together, stopping it from falling if it ever wanted to.
The left side of the roof was missing as well, and the door to the house could barely stand on its own.
"You... used to live here?"
Zani’s face was beet red.
She turned to him, waving her hands frantically, "It wasn’t this bad before! The door was much steadier."
Sylus gave her a pitiful look. "I am sorry." He then looked at the door. "Come, let’s meet your momma."
Watching Sylus move closer to the door, Zani stood at a spot for a while, her hand covering her face to hide her embarrassment.
Now standing close to the door, Sylus decided to knock.
Bamm!
"Hello, are you home, ma’am?"
As soon as he said those words, there was thrashing and crashing coming from inside the house, making it feel like it lasted forever.
Sylus couldn’t help but be a tad bit nervous.
Soon after, the door to the house opened, and standing in front of Sylus was a woman—her black hair twisted and touching the lower base of her back. She had beautiful red eyes, although they were clouded behind a dark fog. The woman also wore a blue dress—old and tacky was the word.
Sylus stared at her for a while.
"Excuse me..." the woman spoke, her mouth full of something, and it was obvious she was trying to hide it.
Perhaps she was in a hurry, but Sylus was sure if she had the opportunity, she would spit the food in her mouth away.
Seeing how Sylus was dressed, the woman immediately became defensive, taking slow steps away from the door.
To her, the people of Viper had come to demand something else from her.
"What do you want with us? My daughter already paid all the debts that I owed. I-if you mess with me, sh-she works with the great prince of Verdenez!"
She voiced out.
’Great prince?’ Sylus tried his best not to laugh.
With a single motion, he removed the black mask from his face and exposed his features for the woman to see.
"I assure you, I am no Red Viper."
The woman was confused at first. She then noticed Zani was standing behind the young man, her gaze averting away.
"P-Prince Sylus Von Astrodial?" the woman uttered aloud.
Sylus smiled.
"Pardon my ignorance, Your Highness, I had no idea it was you!" the woman stepped back, bowing her head fully.
Sylus chuckled a bit. "It’s understandable—my face was covered, after all. I am to blame for that."
"Of course not, Your Highness, I am to blame for not knowing you."
’No point in arguing...’
"May I come in...?"
"Y-yes, of course."
Opening the door fully, she stepped to the side, allowing Sylus to walk into the room.
Just as one would think the house was from the outside, it was almost the same on the inside.
The room was small with a single couch, and a mat on the ground where Sylus assumed they slept.
There was a dining area to the left, right next to where a stove was for cooking.
Looking at this place reminded Sylus so much of his former world.
And then Zani grabbed her mother by the hand, pulling her toward the other room after showing Sylus where he should sit—
The single, only couch in the entire house.
