Reborn as the Third Prince: To Build and Conquer my way to Royalty.-Chapter 71: Down to earth.
Chapter 71: Down to earth.
"Here, please take this..."
Zani’s mother knelt before Sylus, offering him a drink with a transparent glass cup.
"Thank you."
Sylus gracefully accepted her kindness.
The glass was chipped at the side, but Sylus didn’t mind. He made sure to drink the whole thing right in front of her.
Zani, on the other hand, stood at the side of the room, observing the whole thing.
Was she a tad bit embarrassed? Possibly, but she made sure to avert her attention as much as she could, just so she could at least bear the pain of watching them both converse.
Once Sylus was done with the drink, he placed the cup on the center table and focused his gaze on Zani’s mother, who was now standing.
Looking at her, Sylus could tell she was nervous.
He also understood why that was.
"I’m grateful you trusted your daughter to me. I would have come to visit you more often, but Zani rarely ever wants me to do that."
"I promise you she’s just shy. I—I will speak to her about it. I’m sure she just didn’t want your lordship to come to this side of the city," the woman replied.
Still, Zani didn’t say anything.
Sylus laughed, "You two are similar—you both get flustered so easily."
The woman lowered her gaze. Hearing that from a handsome man like the prince was sure to make her nervous.
Thinking about it, Sylus was sure this woman had not seen her daughter in so long. That meant she barely even knew her own daughter, at least not as much as she needed to.
To think this never occurred to Sylus when he was choosing his mystère.
Sylus sighed.
"I have a request to ask of you, Mother."
The woman’s face went robotic, unsure if she heard what he called her right. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Even Zani had a reaction.
"I’m sorry, Your Highness, I don’t think I heard you well."
"I said, Mother, I have a request to ask of you."
Hearing it a second time, the woman was sure Sylus had just called her mother.
The happiness that swarmed her from the inside was indescribable—so much so she had to look at Zani, her eyes sparkling with joy while giving out silent thank-yous.
Zani simply pinched the bridge of her nose, the atmosphere damn near killing her.
Suddenly, the woman turned to look at Sylus. She wasn’t going to question why he called her Mother; she was just going to be grateful it happened.
"Yes, whatever it is you want, Your Highness..."
Sylus smiled.
"I would like to spend the night here, if you don’t mind."
"Prince Sylus!" Zani shouted with shock, storming over to Sylus and then leaning down to whisper in his ear.
"What are you doing? You can’t sleep here! This place is not fit for a prince—what would Her Highness say?"
Sylus, almost as though he was toying with her, turned his face toward her direction.
"Well, she isn’t here right now, is she?" he whispered back.
"That isn’t the point."
"Besides," Sylus smiled at the woman, "Mother doesn’t seem to mind if I stay, does she?"
Zani’s mother shook her head with excitement. One could easily mistake her for a teenage girl.
Judging from her reaction, Zani instinctively knew there was nothing she could do regarding the issue.
Instead, she could only watch Sylus and her mother smiling at each other, her face etched with shock.
Later that very day, Sylus made up his mind to assist around the house alongside the two women who were intending to cook for him.
Of course, they insisted on him not joining, leaving him with one task—which was apparently to sieve the flour.
He stood his ground on it, so eventually they let him be.
Although they were uptight about it, constantly checking up on him while they were working in the kitchen.
Seated close to the chair on the ground, Sylus had pulled off his top while he was seated on the bed, sieving the flour like he wanted to.
Zani and her mother, unknowingly, were attracted to the sight, often staring for long periods of time before catching themselves.
While he was sieving, a notification suddenly popped up in front of him.
[You have received 300 karma points.]
[The family is excited you have chosen to assist them.]
[The bartender was happy you tipped him.]
Sylus stared at the screen for a while as he shook the sieve back and forth, the flour pouring into a bowl.
’Eh? 300 karma points? This is the highest I have gotten so far.’
He moved his gaze slightly to the side, where he had summoned another screen.
[Karma points: 300/1000.]
’It increased.’
The first time the karma points increased from 50 to 100 was because he broke the limit and got points higher than 50. Since he got higher than 100 this time, the limit increased yet again.
Still, getting 300 karma points all at once was too generous.
With that, he could pull for three divine blessings and six weapons or summons—if his luck was good, that is.
’Now I am tempted to try it. I was thinking of leaving Sophia here to guide Zani’s mother once we leave, but maybe a summon would work here.’
Sylus glanced toward Zani’s direction, catching them staring at him. The moment they realized they were caught, they immediately looked away, trying to pretend as though they hadn’t been staring at him moments ago.
Nervously chuckling, Sylus glanced the other way.
’I guess they still don’t trust me with the flour.’
’Open karma shop.’
As requested, the system obeyed, sending Sylus into the Karma Shop void.
Once there, he selected the Summons category and decided to pull for a summon with the cost of one hundred karma points.
Of course, he had no control over the type of summon the system would give him—at the very least, he hoped it would be something useful.
[You have successfully pulled for a summon.]
