Reborn as the Third Prince: To Build and Conquer my way to Royalty.-Chapter 69: Running into her.
Chapter 69: Running into her.
Back in the Lower City, Sylus was walking down the rock, using a rag to clean the blood leaking from his fist.
Moments ago, after getting all the information he needed from the man in green, he killed him—along with the other gang members around.
The bartender, of course, acted as though he didn’t see anything, which was pretty normal for his line of work.
Anyway, Sylus had learned a few things from the man before ending his life.
The leader of the Red Viper was a man called Kung the Destroyer. This man was based on the west side of the Lower City and had claimed the entirety of the district there.
It was said that he also had a Lesser Star. The name was unknown, but the star allowed him to control the wind in the form of slashes.
This ability allowed him to attain power and judging by his level of success, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to assume he already had a title as well.
’In a place like this, where people barely have the chance to get a Star Blessing, it’s no wonder they can’t stand up against him.’
Even just by walking past a couple of people, Sylus could instantly tell they were wary of his presence.
It couldn’t be Sophia, since she was resting after eating up the gang member at the tavern. So it had to be another thing entirely.
And it was quite sad. The reason was because, of everyone roaming the street at the moment, he was the only one cleanly dressed.
Not to mention he was wearing a mask as well. Not many people were doing that around here.
It all made sense why he was mistaken for being in a gang after buying the expensive drinks. Normal citizens were not meant to be rich on this side of the city.
How infuriating.
Sylus took a turn to the next street, hoping to catch a ride that would take him directly into the Upper City and straight to the Count’s mansion.
When he suddenly bumped into someone.
"Ow!"
He stumbled backward a bit, placing one hand around his stomach and then raising his gaze.
As he looked ahead, he realized the person he had run into was Zani, carrying two bags of what looked to be corn in her hands.
"I am so sorry, are you okay?" she quickly apologized.
Her hair was packed in a ponytail, making her look multiple times more attractive than she normally was.
She was also wearing a short red skirt and a singlet top, looking nothing like how she normally dressed at the palace.
No doubt Sylus was happy to see her. His mother did tell him Zani was in the city visiting her own mother. Although, he didn’t quite think it would be on this side of the city.
Then again, it did make sense.
Zani never had a great childhood, as she would often tell him.
Excited, he wanted to greet her again, when he noticed Zani was now giving him a disgusted look.
"Oh, you’re one of them. Are you trying to look for a fight now? Because I bumped into you?"
Every word she said was followed with confidence and a little bit of hatred.
At some point, Sylus was sure Zani wanted to put the bags of corn down and square up for the fight.
"Oi! It’s me," he blurted out.
This only made Zani frown even more.
"I don’t care which faction you come from. If you’re looking for trouble, I will fight you right here and now."
Sylus was so confused, seeing Zani speak like this. How could his beautiful mystère have such a sharp mouth?
Although, he understood why she was being aggressive. Thinking Sylus was part of the Red Viper must have angered her.
It’s no surprise that she hates them.
He first scanned left and right, making sure no one was looking in his direction.
Soon after, he realized the coast was clear.
Open.
Zani was shocked to see it was Sylus underneath the mask, her face lighting up with surprise.
Sylus closed the mask quickly.
Anyone seeing her face right then would want to stare longer, and he was not yet looking for that type of attention.
So, Sylus grabbed her by the hand and pulled her into a dark alley, where trash and some homeless people were sleeping. frёeωebɳovel.com
Though they were further upfront, so Sylus couldn’t see them, neither could they see him.
Pinning Zani to the wall with the mask on, Sylus whispered,
"Don’t scream, I am undercover."
Zani had a "Really?" look on her face.
"Why is His Highness undercover?"
It took a while for Sylus to answer.
"I wanted to see how the city I’ll be ruling over is before I do anything else."
Zani sighed.
"I am glad you’re up and well, but you should still be resting. Besides, I don’t think it is safe for you to roam about this side of the city. Please allow me to accompany you to a safe place."
"Are you being serious? Even now you’re going to act like a mother?"
Her face instantly turned red after Sylus said that.
"It’s not like that. This city has gangs and stuff. I’d hate for you to get entangled with them. I am only looking after your well-being, that’s all."
She could barely open her eyes to look at him.
Behind the mask, Sylus smiled.
Truly, Zani was cute.
"Relax. The organization is one of the reasons I am here undercover. I have figured out their hideout and the leader. Once I have gathered a trump, we’ll raid the west side of the city and take back everything from them."
"Eh?" Zani leaned forward. "You want to eradicate the entire Red Viper?"
Just like him, Zani must have learned the true danger of these people after she arrived in the city for her holiday.
And if there is one thing Sylus was sure of, that was the fact Zani must have thought about the same thing.
He replied,
"Yes, I want to kill every single last one of them, including the noble sponsoring them."
