Rebirth: The unfavored Princess is the Tyrant King's favorite-Chapter 129: Apologize to me!
"She must apologize to me first!" Luciana declared.
Everyone watched the princess consort in shock at her audacious words. Even the empress dowager, who was heartbroken about her cat, was trying to reel in her dissatisfaction at the first Princess because the emperor had spoken but she was still so bold.
Luciana realized everyone’s gazes were fixed on her but held her chin high with a look of determination on her face. Nicholas came to stand behind her and his hand gently wrapped around her waist, resting on her flat belly. She had nearly protested and had almost pulled away from him, but she forced her to remain in his arms.
It wasn’t because his grip was strong, but instead, it was because he held her so gently as if she might break that even though everyone looked like they were judging her, she didn’t mind.
She loved his unbiased support and protection too much to push him away. His support was all she needed.
Luciana had lived two lifetimes in the palace to understand what the emperor had just done. Although the first princess looked as if the emperor had sentenced her to death or that he had given her an unfair punishment, she knew that was far from the truth.
The emperor had done what he did to save Princess Agatha from public ridicule. He had acted in a rush because he didn’t want the name of the royal family to be tarnished any further.
This only showed just how much the emperor favored this daughter of his. She wondered if she were the one in such a predicament, would the emperor jump in to swiftly save her like this?
She already knew the answer... No, the emperor would allow her to be ridiculed.
However, Luciana didn’t know that the emperor was beginning to have a different opinion about her. The emperor had realized she had more than met the eye.
After seeing a different side of her that evening, he had begun to understand why his second son was smitten by her. She was dangerous and he had made a decision to keep an eye on her.
He didn’t like such confident and beautiful women who knew their worth and directly spoke their minds. Such women could bring the downfall of a whole nation. She was a weapon of destruction.
"Apologize to the princess consort," the emperor said. From beginning to end he had witnessed everything unfold. Even though his noble consort kept twisting the facts, he knew he shouldn’t follow in her footsteps as the emperor.
Princess Agatha glared at Luciana with hatred in her eyes but she kept her mouth shut. The annoying thing was that she was already on her knees in such an embarrassing state before the princess consort but she had to apologize again.
"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done what I did," Princess Agatha said through gritted teeth.
"And what did you do?" Luciana asked and Princess Agatha’s eyes turned colder.
’Was the princess consort planning on not leaving her with any shred of dignity?’
"For disrespecting you and for switching the cats...You...you win," she said, sniffing, and rose onto her feet and stormed off.
She knew everything was going to change from that moment on. Everyone was going to look down on her, especially her eldest brother. Ignoring the tears that burned her eyes, she speedily walked away with the imperial guards trailing after her.
The empress dowager felt she should have followed her gut feeling and should not have celebrated this year’s birthday banquet.
"Princess consort, can you take a look at the second cat? Can it be treated?" The empress dowager asked and Luciana nodded.
"I can try but I can’t promise anything," she said.
"No need to worry; I won’t hold you accountable if anything goes wrong with the cat," Empress Dowager promised.
"Alright, let’s get back inside and enjoy the feast, the night is still young," the emperor said, making an attempt to liven up the atmosphere again.
The guests gave stiff and fake smiles as they returned to the banquet hall. They already knew whatever happened tonight couldn’t be fixed with just a few words or whatever feast they were about to have.
The princess of Wazuzu kingdom, General Mathias, Robert, and David kept sneaking glances at the couple who remained standing in the foyer with the man’s hand wrapped around the woman’s waist.
Each one of them had several thoughts running through their minds.
The princess of Wazuzu couldn’t help but realize the princess consort was a formidable opponent, she was intrigued by her. How was she able to accurately predict what was going to happen and managed to be one step ahead?
She couldn’t help but feel there was something different about the woman.
General Mathias couldn’t help but realize how much alike the princess consort and Alina were.
Their temperament, their demeanor, and everything was just too similar.
He couldn’t help but get the feeling that the both of them were somehow related.
Could she be his daughter? Alina was two months pregnant before she disappeared. She had left a letter and told him not to look for her because she loved another.
He knew he shouldn’t have given up on her like that. He should have searched for her at least. He should have searched for her and made her tell him those words to his face.
But he was a coward, he preferred to live in oblivion than confront her for the truth. After 18 years, would Alina want to see him? If the princess consort was his daughter with Alina, how did she become the adopted daughter of the king of Florendel? 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
He felt as if his head was about to split from all the things he was thinking about.
Robert, on the other hand, didn’t know if he was falling in love with his adopted sister after everything he’d witnessed tonight or if there was something wrong with his heart.
His heart hadn’t stopped thumping in his chest the more he saw her numerous qualities.
Maybe if he hadn’t been so indifferent at the time she came to Florendel, could he have gotten to know her better?
By the time he realized what was happening, his feet had already taken him towards the couple.
Nicholas turned Luciana around to face him. There was a large smile on his usually cold and devilishly handsome face.
He stroked her cheeks with the back of his hand and she smiled back at him. He was just about to lean in and give him a quick kiss when he heard someone coughing.
"Ahem...Can I borrow my sister for a while? I need to discuss something with her," Robert said.
