Marrying My Bestie's Ferocious Brother - He Calls Me His Baby!-Chapter 222 - 221: My Husband Has OCD—How Dare You Touch His Things?
The cold wind outside the hall blew, and the hustle and bustle were left behind.
Gu Yanshen pushed the cart, Lin Wan Yi followed alongside, the family headed to the parking lot.
"...Don’t talk nonsense, what do you mean Lin Wan Yi has good luck?"
From the corner of the wall came the whispers of two military wives gossiping.
"Why isn’t it good luck? She married Mr. Gu, the living Yama, and ended up being pampered to the sky."
"I don’t think that’s necessarily true." The previous voice retorted, "Didn’t you see how Manager Liu tried to stir things up, and she blocked him with just a few words? That brain, that poise, can we even compare?"
"Indeed, she effortlessly protected her own man and managed to show off some affection on the side."
"Exactly! If I had her skills, would my Old Wang dare to hide private money? Just listen to what she said: ’Besides the tasks, his mind is filled with me and the kids.’ Boy, if I were a man, I’d love to hear that too."
Another military wife sighed.
"Stop talking about it, I can’t learn. But Mr. Gu’s ’consider it an enemy attack’ was absolutely brilliant, I need to go home and tell my husband to learn something from it!"
"Learn what? Learn to treat your matchmaker as an enemy and kick them out?"
"Hahaha..."
The laughter echoed far.
Lin Wan Yi’s smile deepened.
She glanced sideways at the man beside her, he still had that cold, hard expression, as if the discussion he just heard had nothing to do with him.
The jeep drove smoothly into the night.
The two little ones slept soundly in the back seat, their breathing even.
The space inside the car was very quiet.
"Mr. Gu." Lin Wan Yi suddenly spoke.
"Hmm."
"Your report tonight was quite unlike you."
Gu Yanshen drove, his gaze didn’t waver. "Why not?"
"Too ostentatious." Lin Wan Yi’s fingers tapped lightly on her knee, "You voiced all your inner thoughts, how will you maintain the living Yama persona in the future?"
The man was silent.
The car just happened to stop at an intersection, waiting to pass.
He unexpectedly stretched out his large hand, instead of holding her hand as usual, he directly pinched her cheek.
The force wasn’t strong, the callused fingertips rubbed against her smooth skin, tickling a bit.
"Inner thoughts?" His voice was very low, "My inner thoughts aren’t just those three sentences."
The green light turned on.
He withdrew his hand, regained his grip on the steering wheel, and the car started smoothly.
Lin Wan Yi’s cheeks, however, were a bit flushed.
Back at the family compound’s small building.
Gu Yanshen, as usual, swiftly carried the two children into the bedroom, undressed them, changed into sleeping bags, covered them with blankets, all in one go.
Lin Wan Yi leaned against the door frame, watching his skilled back.
This man, outside he was iron, at home he was water.
After he came out of the bedroom, he gently closed the door.
Lin Wan Yi didn’t go wash up; instead, she poured him a glass of water from the kitchen.
The water was warm, with a faint sweetness.
"Here."
Gu Yanshen took it, drank it all in one go.
He looked at her, under the lamp, her eyes were bright.
"Your words tonight were well said." Lin Wan Yi walked up to him, stood on tiptoe, and adjusted his slightly crooked collar.
"Which words?"
"Just that sentence, ’My report is finished’."
Gu Yanshen: "..."
Lin Wan Yi laughed, her fingers slid down from his collar, lightly poking his firm chest.
"Mr. Gu, well done."
She raised her face, quickly kissed him on the chin.
"That’s your reward."
Like a dragonfly skimming the water, she turned to leave.
But her wrist was caught in a grip.
Suddenly, the world spun.
She was pressed against the wall by the man.
His breath overwhelmed her, carrying a dominance she couldn’t escape.
"Just this?" His voice was terribly hoarse.
Lin Wan Yi’s heart slightly skipped.
She looked into his eyes, burning with flames, and knew she had ignited the fire again.
"So... what other reward do you want?" she asked softly.
Gu Yanshen didn’t answer.
He showed her through his actions.
...
Under the same night sky.
The atmosphere at the Zhang Family, as cold as an ice cellar.
Director Zhang paced back and forth in the living room with his hands behind his back, his leather shoes making a "clunk, clunk" sound on the floor.
Zhang Lina was wrapped in a blanket, sitting on the sofa, still trembling.
She had just been "escorted" back by the security team, utterly embarrassed.
"Dad, you have to stand up for me! That Gu Yanshen, he..."
"Pa—!"
A loud slap landed harshly on Zhang Lina’s face.
She fell onto the sofa from the hit, blood appearing at the corner of her mouth.
"Stand up for you? What should I stand up for you for!" Director Zhang was shaking with anger, pointing at her nose and yelling.
"Do you know who you offended tonight!"
"That Lin Wan Yi is Dean Li’s prized disciple! The darling of the entire Agricultural College!"
"That Gu Yanshen is the model that Political Commissioner Zhou praises publicly!"
"And his son! A genius who could dismantle a Swiss watch at half a year old!"
"I told you to build connections, not to throw yourself at him like a clothesless lunatic!"
Zhang Lina covered her face, crying uncontrollably.
"I... I just wanted him to look at me..."
"Look at you? See how stupid you are!" Director Zhang kicked over the tea table beside him.
"Starting tomorrow, you’ll go back to your grandma’s in the countryside! Without my permission, don’t come back!"
"Your allowance is completely cut off! Reflect on your actions properly in the countryside!"
Director Zhang gave a final order.
He had seen everything clearly tonight.
He couldn’t afford to provoke a single member of the Gu Yanshen family.
If his foolish daughter continued to mess around, his career as a director would be over!
The next day.
National Defense University, Library.
The sunlight shone beautifully through the large glass windows, with tiny dust particles drifting in the air.
Gu Yanshen sat by a window seat.
In front of him lay over a dozen pages of draft paper, densely filled with words written in pen and tactical diagrams.
These were the reports he had painstakingly compiled overnight, reviewing the last red-blue confrontation simulation exercise, due to be submitted to Political Commissioner Zhou that afternoon.
He was bowing his head for the final revisions.
A slight sound of footsteps approached from a distance.
Gu Yanshen didn’t lift his head.
"Oh!"
A soft exclamation.
Next, a stream of water poured down on his head.
The icy tea flowed down his hair, over his stern side face, and dripped onto the drafts before him.
The tactical diagrams he had personally drawn instantly blurred into a smudge of ink.
The pen in Gu Yanshen’s hand froze.
He slowly lifted his head.
A girl in a white dress, with two braided pigtails, looking quiet and delicate, stood helplessly by his table.
She was still clutching an emptied enamel cup.
"S-sorry! Comrade, I really didn’t mean to!"
The girl’s face turned pale, her eyes quickly misted with tears, looking as if she might cry at any moment.
"I... I’ll help you dry them!"
As she spoke, she pulled out a white handkerchief and bent down.
Her body leaned so low, aiming to wipe the drafts.
In this posture, her fragrance and her warm breath washed over Gu Yanshen’s face.
Her hand also "inadvertently" brushed towards the back of Gu Yanshen’s hand holding the pen.
Gu Yanshen’s body subtly withdrew a second before contact.
The chair legs scraped against the floor, making a harsh sound.
He avoided it.
The girl’s hand missed, a look of bewilderment flashing across her face.
She wanted to say something more.
A voice tinged with amusement came from across the table.
"This student."
The girl stiffly lifted her head.
She saw Lin Wan Yi standing at the table, who had somehow arrived without her noticing.
Lin Wan Yi carried an insulated lunch box, her face showing a composed smile.
Her eyes scanned the disarrayed drafts on the table before landing back on the girl.
"My husband has a cleanliness obsession; he doesn’t like others touching his things."
Lin Wan Yi gently placed the lunch box on a clean corner of the table, then gracefully took out a few tissues to start tidying the surface.
She looked at the girl with a gentle smile and a soft tone.
"Let me handle it instead."
