Chapter 130: His wife and his sister

"Ahem...Can I borrow my sister for a while? I need to discuss something important with her," Robert said, a subtle smile on his lips.

He stared at Luciana as if mesmerized by her. He didn’t know if it was her beauty or her boldness, but she had gotten his attention, and he had never found something so interesting in such a long time that he didn’t know how to act.

Seeing how the first prince of Gloryland was all over her made him displeased and angry for no reason. When she gave the first prince that shy, hesitant smile a moment ago, he felt as if a feather was tickling his heart.

’She was something else,’ and for the first time ever since she found out about this sham of a marriage, he wished something would go wrong so that this marriage alliance would be broken.’

"You can say whatever you want to say to her in front of me," Nicholas said coldly, his hold on Luciana tightening.

There was something in the way the crown prince of Florendel stared at Luciana that rubbed him off in a bad way.

Robert stared at Nicholas in surprise. He didn’t know he would act so unreasonably.

"You are just as the rumors say," Robert blurted.

Nicholas’ eyes narrowed at his words. The air around them became freezing cold the next second as an emotionless look replaced his stormy gaze with his jaw clenched.

Luciana knew that anytime Nicholas looked emotionless, it meant he was even angrier; he was about to erupt like a volcanic explosion.

"And what do those rumors say?" He growled.

"Nick... Please, can I have a few words with my brother..."

"He’s not..." Nicholas cut her off, but she placed a finger on his lips, silencing him.

"Please," she begged, her clear eyes silently pleading with him.

"Fine...five minutes!" Nicholas forced out the words through his teeth, but his hand was still wrapped possessively around her waist.

"You should let go of me," Luciana softly said, and he reluctantly let go.

Robert watched the interaction between them and was surprised.

’Why do the both of them seem so close when their union was just about a month ago? And what did the eldest prince mean by "he’s not"? Does he know something?’

Robert and Luciana walked a few feet away and stood facing each other with a little distance between them.

"Crown Prince Robert, what did you want to say to me?" Luciana asked when the prince didn’t say anything even though they’d moved away from Nicholas.

Robert broke out of his thoughts and watched her with a probing gaze.

"Does he know?" Robert asked, and Luciana stared at him, tongue-tied.

Even though his question was vague, she understood it perfectly.

The "he" was Nick, and as for the rest, she knew the crown prince was asking if Nicholas knew she was a fake princess of Florendel.

"Is that the important thing His Highness wants to discuss with me?" Luciana answered his question with another question.

"Call me brother," he said and smiled when she stared at him in surprise, and he added,

"Father wanted me to find out if you are experiencing any difficulties as the princess consort."

Robert didn’t have anything to say and made up a lie. He just felt like getting her away from the eldest prince’s embrace.

Luciana didn’t know how many more surprises awaited her in this crown prince’s presence. This was entirely different from what the prince had said earlier this evening.

Earlier today, when she approached the table of the crown prince of Florendel and greeted him, he had said just seven words. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"The king said don’t make any mistakes."

Those were the same words he had told her in their previous life. Even though he didn’t add any more sentences after that, she had completed the remaining sentence in her mind.

"The king said don’t make any mistakes...otherwise you’ll be on your own if anything goes wrong."

That was the meaning and conclusion she had derived from the seven-word message. But why was he singing a different tune now? His sudden friendliness made her wary.

"No, nothing major has happened; everyone is treating me well," Luciana said.

"It doesn’t seem that way to me," he said, and Luciana looked up at him in confusion. ’What is he insinuating?’

"Take this; it is my pendant; anytime you come across any kind of hurdle and you decide to leave Gloryland, come to Florendel. Just show the soldiers at the border this pendant, and they will help you," he said.

"This...it’s too precious; I can’t accept it," Luciana said.

’Besides, what was she going to do in Florendel? And he was giving her his pendant. Didn’t he know that a man giving a woman such an important and intimate item as his pendant has an ambiguous meaning?’ Luciana waved her hand at him.

"Thanks, but I don’t think I’ll ever need it," she said, but she didn’t expect him to hold her wrist, keeping her hand in place before turning her palms upwards and pressing the cold pendant into her palms.

"Never say never," he said. Luciana didn’t know if she was imagining it, but his voice sounded intimate, almost seductive, and the way his fingers sensually brushed against hers as he wrapped her hands around the pendant caused alarm bells to go off in her mind.

Luciana pulled her hands away from his grasp as if she had been scalded by a hot iron, her eyes widening in surprise at his actions.

Robert’s smile widened seeing how flustered she looked.

Luciana could feel Nicholas’ deathly glares before he came to stand behind her, and his overbearing presence enveloped her.

"The five minutes are up," he gritted out, snatched the pendant from Luciana, and tossed it back at the Crown Prince.

Robert caught it, his friendly smile disappearing at the man’s actions.

"I gave the pendant to my sister; why are you being so unreasonable?" Robert said.

Nicholas laughed as if he’d heard a joke. He wrapped an arm around Luciana to mark his territory.

"You don’t need to worry your little head about my wife. I will make sure all of her needs are met. She wouldn’t return to Florendel," Nicholas said and took Luciana’s hand in his and brought it to his lips.

He gently kissed her fingers one after the other and gently bit on her index finger.

"Nick..." Luciana said, wanting to scold him, but she didn’t know what was wrong with her voice; it came out coquettish as if she was flirting with him.

Robert’s smile became forced as he watched the pair in front of him.

"I meant what I said; anytime you need help, come to Florendel, and Father and I will protect you," he said and walked away.

Seeing the annoying prince finally walk away, a mischievous smirk formed on Nicholas’ face as he whispered.

"Don’t you think we should go and continue what we were about to start before we were interrupted?"
