Chapter 57: A Dangerous Trap

The next morning, Zhao Ming arrived at one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the city. It was a place where powerful men made deals over a game of golf, and today, he was here to strike his own deal.

Lin Cheng was already waiting when Zhao Ming arrived. The older man was dressed in a crisp white polo shirt, a cigar resting between his fingers. He looked up as Zhao Ming approached and smiled.

"Zhao Ming," Lin Cheng said smoothly. "It's been a while."

Zhao Ming smiled back, but there was no warmth in his eyes. "It has. Let's not waste time, Mr. Lin. You know why I'm here."

Lin Cheng chuckled. "Straight to business. I like that. But I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about."

Zhao Ming sat down across from him. "I'll be blunt. You've been working with Zhao Tian for years. But he's about to fall. If you don't want to go down with him, now is the time to switch sides."

Lin Cheng's smile faded slightly. "That's a bold claim. Zhao Tian is still a powerful man."

"For now," Zhao Ming said. "But not for long. You know as well as I do that he's made too many enemies. The moment his secrets are exposed, he'll be finished."

Lin Cheng took a slow puff of his cigar. "And I assume you have proof?"

Zhao Ming slid a folder across the table. Lin Cheng opened it, his eyes scanning the documents inside. His expression darkened.

"I see," Lin Cheng muttered.

"Your choice is simple," Zhao Ming continued. "Stay with Zhao Tian and risk losing everything, or cut ties now and come out clean."

Lin Cheng was silent for a long moment. Then, he closed the folder and smiled. "You drive a hard bargain, Zhao Ming."

Zhao Ming leaned forward. "So, what will it be?"

Lin Cheng exhaled slowly. "Zhao Tian has been useful, but if he's really about to fall... Then I suppose it's time to reconsider my alliances."

Zhao Ming smirked. "Smart choice."

Lin Cheng chuckled. "You remind me of your father. He was a dangerous man."

Zhao Ming's expression didn't change. "And I'm even more dangerous."

Lin Cheng laughed. "I believe you."

Zhao Ming stood up. "I'll be in touch."

As he walked away, he knew one thing for certain—Zhao Tian's foundation was already starting to crack. And soon, it would collapse completely.

Back at his estate, Zhao Tian sat in his office, his expression dark. He had just received a call from Lin Cheng, informing him that their partnership was over.

Zhao Tian slammed his fist on the desk. "Zhao Ming..."

His nephew was more troublesome than he had expected. First, he survived the assassination attempt. Now, he was stealing his allies.

A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. One of his men stepped inside.

"Sir, we have a problem," the man said.

Zhao Tian's eyes narrowed. "What is it?"

"The police have started investigating your businesses. Someone leaked information about your illegal dealings."

Zhao Tian's jaw clenched. He knew exactly who was behind this.

"Zhao Ming..." he muttered again, his voice filled with rage.

If his nephew wanted a war, then a war he would get.

Zhao Tian grabbed his phone and made a call.

"It's time to get rid of Zhao Ming for good."

_

Zhao Ming sat in his study, his eyes sharp as he read through the latest report from Ye Chen. The information leak about Zhao Tian's illegal dealings had started to take effect. Several government officials had begun investigating, and some of Zhao Tian's close allies were already distancing themselves.

It was working.

However, Zhao Ming knew his uncle wouldn't sit still. Zhao Tian was ruthless, and now that he was being pushed into a corner, he would strike back with everything he had.

A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. Wang Xian walked in, looking serious.

"Something's wrong," Wang Xian said without hesitation.

Zhao Ming frowned. "What happened?"

"There's movement in Zhao Tian's forces. Several of his men have disappeared from their usual spots. It's like they're preparing for something big."

Zhao Ming's eyes narrowed. "So he's making his move."

Wang Xian nodded. "It gets worse. We received an anonymous tip that Zhao Tian has hired outside help—mercenaries."

Zhao Ming tapped his fingers on the table. "Mercenaries?"

"Not just any mercenaries," Wang Xian said grimly. "These guys are ex-military, the kind that takes on high-risk jobs without asking questions. If Zhao Tian has brought them in, it means he's planning to get rid of you permanently."

Ye Chen walked in at that moment, his face dark. "I just confirmed it. Zhao Tian is setting a trap. He wants you dead."

Zhao Ming smirked. "Of course he does. The question is, where is the trap?"

Ye Chen tossed a file onto the desk. "He leaked information that an important witness against him is hiding in an abandoned factory on the west side of the city. He expects you to go after them."

Zhao Ming raised an eyebrow. "And what's waiting for me there?"

Wang Xian's voice was cold. "An ambush."

Late that night, Zhao Ming stood on the rooftop of a nearby building, staring down at the abandoned factory. The area was completely silent, but he could feel the tension in the air.

Through his binoculars, he could see movement inside. Several men were hiding in the shadows, all armed. Snipers were positioned on the upper floors, and there were vehicles parked in hidden spots around the area.

It was a kill zone.

Zhao Ming chuckled. "Zhao Tian really went all out."

Ye Chen crouched beside him. "It's too risky. We should leave."

Zhao Ming shook his head. "If we leave, Zhao Tian wins. He'll think we're afraid of him. No, we take this opportunity to turn the trap against him."

Wang Xian smirked. "You have a plan?"

Zhao Ming's eyes gleamed. "Of course."

An hour later, the factory remained quiet. Inside, the mercenaries waited in the shadows, their fingers on their triggers. They had been paid a fortune for this job, and they weren't planning to fail.

One of the men checked his watch. "They should be here by now."

The leader, a bald man with a scar across his cheek, frowned. "Stay alert. Zhao Ming isn't an idiot. He might have figured it out."

Just as he finished speaking, the lights inside the factory flickered. Then, the entire building was plunged into darkness.

"What the—?"

Before anyone could react, a deafening explosion shook the factory. Smoke filled the air, and gunfire erupted from outside. The mercenaries scrambled for cover, shouting orders as bullets rained down on them.

Zhao Ming and his men had already surrounded the factory. The snipers that Zhao Tian had placed were taken out first, leaving the mercenaries blind and vulnerable.

Ye Chen moved swiftly through the chaos, his silenced pistol taking down enemies with deadly precision. Wang Xian fought with a dagger, cutting through the opposition like a shadow.

Zhao Ming, meanwhile, walked through the smoke calmly, his pistol in hand. A mercenary lunged at him, but with a single step, Zhao Ming dodged and fired a shot straight into the man's chest.

More enemies came at him, but Zhao Ming was faster. He weaved through their attacks with ease, his movements precise and lethal.

The mercenaries were highly trained, but Zhao Ming was beyond them. Within minutes, the battle was over.

The scarred leader lay on the ground, clutching his wounded leg as Zhao Ming stood over him.

"Who sent you?" Zhao Ming asked coldly.

The man gritted his teeth. "You already know."

Zhao Ming smirked. "I do. But I want to hear you say it."

The man hesitated but then let out a bitter laugh. "Zhao Tian."

Zhao Ming crouched down, his eyes sharp. "Tell your boss something for me. His time is up."

With that, Zhao Ming stood up and walked away, leaving the man lying there.

At his mansion, Zhao Tian sat in his office, his face pale as he listened to the report. His carefully planned ambush had failed. His mercenaries had been wiped out.

And worst of all—Zhao Ming was still alive.

He gripped the phone tightly. "That bastard..."

Zhao Ming wasn't just defending himself anymore. He was attacking.

And Zhao Tian knew—if he didn't act fast, everything he had built would crumble.
