Rebirth Immortal-Chapter 36: The Hidden Danger
Chapter 36: The Hidden Danger
The chamber was silent. The dark energy had vanished, leaving behind only the dim glow of the crystal resting on the pedestal. The battle was over, but Ye Chen knew better than to relax. His grip on his sword remained firm as he slowly approached the crystal, his sharp eyes watching for any sign of danger.
Zhao Ming wiped the sweat from his forehead, his breathing still heavy. "We really did it... that thing is gone."
Lin Xia, standing beside him, nodded but didn't lower her guard. "It disappeared, but the power in this room hasn't faded. That means the danger isn't completely over."
Ye Chen stopped a few steps away from the pedestal. The crystal pulsed faintly, its deep blue surface swirling with strange patterns. He could feel the power inside it—vast, ancient, and dangerous. This was no ordinary artifact.
Zhao Ming stepped closer, his curiosity overcoming his fear. "Should we destroy it?"

Ye Chen shook his head. "No. If it was that easy, the Shadow Sect wouldn't have protected it for so long. There's something deeper here."
Lin Xia furrowed her brows. "Then what do we do? We can't leave it here. If someone else finds it, the same disaster will repeat."
Ye Chen didn't answer immediately. He was thinking. This crystal was the key to something much larger than they had expected. Taking it with them could be dangerous, but leaving it here was even worse.
Suddenly, a faint vibration spread through the chamber. It was subtle, like a pulse beneath their feet. Zhao Ming stiffened. "What was that?"
Ye Chen's eyes darkened. He turned his gaze back to the pedestal and saw the runes beneath it flickering weakly. The sealing formation that had activated to suppress the dark figure was beginning to crack.
"The seal isn't stable," Ye Chen said in a low voice. "That thing might be gone for now, but its influence isn't completely erased."
Lin Xia's expression turned grim. "Then we really can't leave the crystal here. It might bring the monster back."
Ye Chen made his decision. He reached out and grabbed the crystal. The moment his fingers touched its cold surface, a sharp pain shot through his arm, spreading through his entire body. It was as if countless needles were piercing his soul.
"Ye Chen!" Lin Xia shouted, rushing forward.
But Ye Chen gritted his teeth and held firm. He wouldn't let go. This pain was nothing compared to what he had endured before. He focused his mind, suppressing the invading force trying to disrupt his energy.
Then, the pain suddenly stopped. The crystal settled in his palm, no longer resisting. Instead, a strange warmth spread through his fingers, and a voice echoed in his mind.
"You... are not like the others..."
Ye Chen's pupils shrank. A voice was coming from the crystal?
The others saw his expression change and knew something was wrong.
"Ye Chen, what happened?" Zhao Ming asked urgently.
Ye Chen didn't answer right away. His mind was still ringing with the voice's presence. It wasn't threatening, but it wasn't friendly either. It was... observing him.
"I have been waiting... for someone like you..."
Ye Chen's grip tightened. "Who are you?" he asked in his mind.
"I am... a fragment of the past... a remnant of a lost age. You have potential, but you are not ready to wield my full power yet."
Ye Chen frowned. "What do you mean?"
But the voice faded, leaving only silence behind.
"Ye Chen?" Lin Xia called again, her worry growing.
Ye Chen exhaled slowly and looked at them. "The crystal has a consciousness. It spoke to me."
Their eyes widened.
"What did it say?" Zhao Ming asked.
Ye Chen shook his head. "Not much. But one thing is clear—this crystal isn't just a source of power. It's connected to something much bigger. And it's dangerous."
Lin Xia crossed her arms. "So what now? Do we take it with us?"
Ye Chen nodded. "We don't have a choice. If we leave it, someone else will find it. And if it falls into the wrong hands, another disaster will happen."
Zhao Ming sighed. "Then let's get out of here before something else happens."
Ye Chen agreed. They had already spent too much time in this cursed place. They needed to leave before more enemies appeared.
The three of them turned and made their way toward the exit. The underground chamber had been their battlefield, but it was time to move forward.
As they stepped out into the night air, the fresh breeze was a welcome relief. The sky was dark, the stars shining faintly above them. The world outside hadn't changed, but Ye Chen knew that their journey had just taken a new turn.
The crystal in his hand was warm, pulsing gently as if it had a heartbeat of its own.
Whatever secrets it held, Ye Chen would uncover them.
But deep in his heart, he had a feeling—
This was only the beginning.
