Rebirth: I Will Win Easily in the Apocalypse-Chapter 12 - 7 The End of the World Comes_2
Chapter 12: Chapter 7 The End of the World Comes_2
The weather was a harbinger of the apocalypse. In her past life, the three days before the end of the world were marked by such gloomy skies, until on the fourth day a flood emerged from nowhere, sweeping across the globe. Accompanied by the flood was torrential rain, and as the waters calmed, the rain persisted, causing the water levels to rise continuously.
The day before the apocalypse, the morning news, delivered by a solemn anchor, reported:
"...Tonight until tomorrow, heavy rainfall is expected... The precipitation could exceed the maximum historical levels in City C. Currently, our city's flood prevention efforts are proceeding in an orderly manner... Residents still outside are urged to return home quickly and secure their doors and windows... Those in low-lying areas should evacuate promptly."
After watching the news, the three people made a trip to the supermarket; this was the first time they had ventured out in three days.
The supermarket was crowded and disorderly with many empty shelves restocked rapidly, which reassured the customers intending to hoard more goods.
Gu Yanzhi and his two companions toured the supermarket and found that the supplies were still plentiful, suggesting that the nation had prepared early. Then, nonchalantly, they picked up a box of instant noodles and went to check out.
They already possessed enough supplies to last them centuries, so there was no need to compete with others.
Driving back to their residential complex, they noticed a moving van parked below. Several people were bustling about, moving things back and forth.
The trio realized there must be new neighbors arriving. Besides their own family, no one else had moved into their building until now.
"Hello, are you the new neighbor?" Gu Yanlin parked behind the moving van and noticed a girl directing the movers. He leaned out to inquire, having not seen her when they drove in due to the moving van blocking the view.

"Yes, I've just moved in. Are you a resident of this building too?" The girl turned around at the sound of his voice, asking eagerly.
When she saw Gu Yanlin, her eyes lit up, surprised to find such a handsome hunk among her neighbors.
"Yes," Gu Yanlin nodded, stepping out of the car.
Gu Yanzhi and Song Zhao also got out of the car, and upon seeing Song Zhao, the girl's eyes sparkled even brighter; [Wow, another hot hunk, even more handsome than the first.]
Seeing Gu Yanzhi, the girl was nearly drooling; [My goodness, she's so beautiful, so gorgeous, ahhh.]
"Hi, Sister Yan Zhi, my name is Zhang Qian," Zhang Qian squeezed past Gu Yanlin and Song Zhao to approach Gu Yanzhi, almost attaching herself to Gu Yanzhi.
[Sniffles, she's even prettier up close. Such perfect skin, not a single pore visible, how can she be so pale and luminous.]
Watching Zhang Qian's infatuated antics, Song Zhao and Gu Yanlin's faces darkened.
"Hello, I'm Gu Yanzhi, this is my brother Gu Yanlin, and my husband, Song Zhao," Gu Yanzhi said. Her voice faltered slightly when she said 'husband', her face flushing a bit before she continued. [Wow, the cold Sister Yan Zhi blushing, so cute, ahhh, both handsome and beautiful and cute, kill me now] Zhang Qian fixated on Gu Yanzhi, dabbing at the suspicious drool at the corner of her mouth.
"Sister Yan Zhi, is it okay to add you on WeChat?"
"Excuse me, excuse me," Seeing Zhang Qian's increasingly obsessed behavior, Gu Yanlin, with a scowl, pushed her aside, positioning himself between her and Gu Yanzhi.
After a brief exchange, they learned that the girl's name was Zhang Qian, resident of the thirteenth floor, the same age as Gu Yanlin, and a freshman at City C University. Her family's home was in a low-lying area, and after seeing the storm warning and flood prevention notices on the news, they decided to temporarily move into their prepared apartment here, thankfully the place had been renovated and off-gassed a while ago.
While talking, Zhang Qian's parents also came down from upstairs. After exchanging brief greetings, they all went upstairs.
Gu Yanzhi deliberately took out a large black box from her space, having Gu Yanlin and Song Zhao pretend it was very heavy as they carried it onto the elevator. It was actually empty, meant to avoid drawing attention, giving the impression they hadn't bought much, but still had many things.
Before going upstairs, Gu Yanzhi briefly mentioned to Zhang Qian's family to quickly stock up on some items, as the supermarket was now overcrowded and whether more goods would be available later was uncertain.
In the afternoon, two more families moved into the building. The responsible property management set up a group—Building No. 10 Collective Group, adding everyone to it and advising them to secure their windows and contact them in the group in case of any issues.
The two families who moved in later were similar to Zhang Qian's; one was a middle-aged couple with their high school son living on the eleventh floor, and the other was a young couple on the sixteenth floor with their baby and the wife's mother.
At dinner time, not in the mood to cook, they took out three servings of spicy hotpot from their space and had a hurried meal. Afterwards, rather than retreating to their rooms to rest, they set up a game console in the living room and started playing games. They did not plan to sleep that night, as Gu Yanzhi remembered the flood striking in the middle of the night, taking many lives in their sleep.
Indeed, in the dead of night around 2 A.M., a bolt of lightning tore through the sky, followed by a massive wall of water that appeared from nowhere, rolling in with overwhelming force.
Another clap of thunder roared, and a downpour ensued.
The apocalypse had arrived.
The next morning, while having breakfast, Gu Yanzhi listened to the disaster figures reported on the news, her tense heart eased a sigh of relief. Due to timely precautions, the number of victims this time was far less than the hundreds of thousands she remembered from the previous life.
