Chapter 264: Chapter 261: Ambition

In a society where politics is paramount, entering politics is truly something that can completely change a person’s fate.

In her career, Sienna Thornton is not someone without ambition.

If she wasn’t ambitious, she wouldn’t have escaped from that mountain. However, due to class relations, her ambitions have always been suppressed. She often feels she’s reached her limit with no further opportunities, so she’s learned to be content with staying where she is.

But now, Quentin Thorne is presenting this opportunity right in front of her.

While excited, she also feels lost.

"I’m just giving you a suggestion, think about it carefully. We’ll talk more over dinner next Saturday." After saying this, Quentin Thorne’s car arrived at the Forrester Family’s old residence.

Sienna Thornton unfastened her seatbelt and nodded politely: "I’ll think about it carefully, thank you Dean Thorne. I’m heading in, have a safe trip."

With that, she got out of the car.

Quentin Thorne sat in the car, watching her walk to the entrance of the Forrester Family’s courtyard, pick up the beast-shaped antique door knocker, and knock twice.

Soon, Simon Forrester came out to open the door: "Didn’t I say I’d pick you up? Why didn’t you call me?" After speaking, he took Sienna Thornton’s hand, his gaze passing over her face to meet Quentin Thorne’s in the car.

Quentin Thorne gave him a slight smile.

He led Sienna over, stopping by the passenger side of the car, and bent down slightly.

Quentin Thorne lowered the passenger side window.

Simon Forrester forced a smile: "Thank you, Dean Thorne, for bringing Candy back. Would you like to come in and sit for a bit?" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

He deliberately emphasized the name "Candy."

Quentin Thorne’s expression changed slightly, and he politely declined: "No need, there’s dinner waiting at home. I’m heading back, you both go on inside."

"Take care, Dean Thorne." Sienna Thornton waved at him, and only after seeing the black Audi disappear around the corner did she take Simon Forrester’s arm and head back into the old residence.

"What did he talk to you about all afternoon?" Simon Forrester asked.

"Not much, just advising me to stay away from the entertainment industry."

This matched what Simon Forrester had guessed: "See, I told you so earlier. I gave you the same advice, but you didn’t listen to me. Yet, you treat Quentin Thorne’s words as if they’re sacred. What’s with that?"

Sienna knew he always disliked her interacting with Quentin Thorne. Since he rarely allowed her to spend an afternoon chatting with Quentin, she let his nagging pass without taking it to heart.

Seeing her silent, Simon Forrester asked again: "Could talking about that really take all afternoon?"

As they approached the inner courtyard, Sienna lowered her voice: "I’ll explain once we’re home."

After dinner with Old Master Forrester, Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester headed back to their apartment.

Simon Forrester held back all evening, and as soon as the car left the old residence, he asked: "What else did Quentin Thorne say to you?"

"He said if I want to go into politics, I shouldn’t just avoid entertainment industry matters, but there are also certain cases I shouldn’t take."

"Politics?" Simon Forrester’s reaction mirrored Sienna Thornton’s, "Do you have any interest in that?"

Sienna Thornton worriedly furrowed her brow, "I never considered it before. But from what Dean Thorne said, it seems like he wants to mentor me."

Simon Forrester didn’t respond.

He was pondering why Quentin Thorne would encourage Sienna Thornton to enter politics. Did he think her past twenty years weren’t already tough enough? Or perhaps he doubted Simon’s abilities, worried that he wouldn’t be able to protect Sienna in the future?

Simon Forrester got lost in his thoughts, silencing him.

Sienna Thornton, still troubled, asked again: "What do you think about this?"

"I disagree."

Sienna Thornton hesitated for a moment: "Then I’ll tell him I’m not interested."

"Alright." Simon Forrester’s tone softened, freeing a hand to rub Sienna’s shoulder, helplessly saying, "I don’t want you to be too stressed out."

"I understand." Sienna Thornton smiled, relieved, "While high status is enticing, I also enjoy a peaceful and joyful life."

Simon Forrester’s hand left her shoulder, tightly interlocking fingers with hers resting on her leg.

-

A week passed.

During this week, Sienna Thornton officially declined all offers from the entertainment industry, and Simon Forrester had someone handle all the posts, pictures, and videos about her floating around online.

She went from being a fleeting celebrity people talked about over meals to someone whom, when mentioned, people would only remember as "Oh, she was that very pretty lawyer."

Sienna Thornton’s life gradually returned to peace, and soon it was the day she had arranged to meet with Quentin Thorne.

On Friday evening, she first sent a message to Quentin Thorne, asking if he was still available for dinner the next night.

Being busy in his high-ranking position, Sienna was worried Quentin Thorne wouldn’t have time or might have completely forgotten about their dinner plans, so she cautiously sent a text.

Quentin Thorne replied quickly, saying he was free and asking if she had decided on a restaurant.

At that moment, Sienna Thornton was in the study keeping Simon Forrester company while he worked late. Upon receiving Quentin’s reply, she immediately asked Simon: "I’ve arranged to have dinner with Dean Thorne tomorrow night. Do you think we should go to ’Cheney Manor’ or ’The State Guesthouse’?"

Simon Forrester paused, eyes fixed on his computer screen before moving his gaze to her, replying sourly: "Why are you having dinner with him again? Are you two planning to meet every week?"

"He treated me to tea last time, so I’m treating him to dinner this time. It’s only polite! Besides, I might need his help in the future."

Simon Forrester turned his gaze back to the computer screen. He didn’t look pleased, but after a moment, he said: "’Cheney Manor,’ it’s cheaper. Then next time Quentin Thorne can pay, and you can go to ’The State Guesthouse.’

Sienna Thornton was briefly speechless, but she knew it was rare for him to allow her to dine with Quentin, so she decided to console him. She stood up from the sofa, ran behind him, put her arms around his neck, kissed him, and softly said: "Then you book a private room for us."

"Alright."

She laughed, kissed him again, and had just let go of him to turn away when he caught her arm.

The English antique chair slid back, and she fell into his embrace.

He closed his eyes, lifted his face slightly, and tapped the other side of his cheek: "One here too, equal distribution."

Sienna Thornton, amused yet resigned, held his face and gave the other cheek a firm kiss.

After kissing, she stood up to leave, but he didn’t let go. Holding her slender waist, he haughtily declared, "I want to come with you tomorrow night too."

"Is that really a good idea? What if we end up discussing work and you won’t understand, wouldn’t you be bored?"

"Won’t understand?" Simon Forrester opened his eyes slowly, raising his voice to question, "Are you planning to converse in French? Oh, excuse me, I also know French. Not understanding? Not going to happen!"

Sienna Thornton: "..."

Seeing his stubborn look, threatening to throw a fit if she didn’t let him go, Sienna Thornton had no choice. She messaged Quentin Thorne with the dinner location at ’Cheney Manor’ and cautiously asked if Simon could join them.

Quentin Thorne promptly replied with a "sure."

Sienna Thornton felt a bit nervous, worrying Quentin Thorne might be upset while also fearing Simon Forrester, who had issues with Quentin, might cause some unpleasantness.

While she worried, Simon Forrester was feeling quite smug.

He’d been wanting to get on Quentin Thorne’s nerves for a while, and now he finally had the chance.
