Chapter 263: Chapter 260: The Lighthouse’s Advice

"Knock knock," suddenly there was a sound of knocking on the door.

Quentin Thorne withdrew his hand and smiled, "Perhaps it’s the refreshments being delivered." Saying this, he called towards the direction of the sliding door, "Please come in."

His voice was neither too loud nor too soft, the pace moderate, with a magnetic timbre, somewhat like a news anchor’s voice: resonant, clean, textured, full of emotion.

After the teahouse waiter placed two trays of refreshments down, he left again.

"Here, Annie, try this; it should taste good." Quentin Thorne broke the silence in the room, using a fork to place a piece of Dragon Beard Pastry onto the small wooden tray in front of Sienna Thornton.

Sienna Thornton was momentarily stunned by the sound of "Annie" and looked at him in a daze.

The sound of "Annie" had been swirling in Quentin Thorne’s mind for ages, so he seemed oblivious at this point, and placed another piece of Mung Bean Cake onto Sienna Thornton’s plate.

Sienna Thornton lowered her head to eat the dessert, while Quentin Thorne sat there watching her, smiling, even his eyes were smiling.

Sienna Thornton ate a piece of Dragon Beard Pastry, washed it down with a sip of tea, wiped the corner of her lips with a napkin, and seeing Quentin Thorne only drinking tea without touching any of the refreshments on the table, she politely said, "Dean Thorne, please have some too."

"I’m getting old, not good to eat sweets." Quentin Thorne laughed and took a sip of tea.

Sienna Thornton also laughed, "Not at all, you look very young, like in your forties."

"Looking young, but not actually young. My daughter is about your age."

When Quentin Thorne mentioned his daughter, Sienna Thornton naturally picked up the topic, "I heard your daughter became a prosecutor at a young age, really impressive."

"That girl is meant for studies. Unfortunately, she started dating too early, affecting her education. At that time, I wanted her to pursue a master’s degree, but she was adamantly against it." Quentin Thorne shook his head and sighed, "Her education is average, yet her ambitions are high; she wants to be the Chief Prosecutor, which is practically impossible."

"Not necessarily, it’s not an absolute matter, you just need to support her." Sienna Thornton comforted.

Quentin remained smiling, making tea and drinking.

Outside the window, the sun set in the west, summer breeze blew past, connecting with the shimmering waves of the lake bordering Shichahai, with willows swaying gracefully.

Sienna Thornton had a few more refreshments and some tea, feeling a bit full, so she rubbed her upper abdomen and stopped eating. Quentin Thorne noticed and smiled, "I’ll order some plum cakes to help you digest."

Saying this, he pressed the ordering device on the table, requesting the teahouse to bring some plum cakes.

During the wait for plum cakes, Quentin Thorne continued chatting with Sienna Thornton, "How far have things progressed between you and Uncle Forrester’s grandson? Are you planning to marry?"

After asking, perhaps realizing he misspoke, he added, "I heard from my father-in-law that Uncle Forrester is very pleased with you. If you marry into the Forrester Family, we’d still count as neighbors."

Sienna Thornton smiled politely, "Nobody knows what the future holds, Grandpa Forrester is really nice to me."

"Rex is a good kid, I’ve watched him grow up. It’s just his parents are rather..." Quentin hinted but didn’t elaborate. Given Sienna Thornton’s intelligence, she should understand what he meant.

Sienna Thornton did not respond. Though she knew Zane Forrester and his wife were indeed a bit odd, she could never speak ill of Simon Forrester’s parents in front of outsiders. So she simply smiled softly, nodded gently.

Outside, the sunset cast a warm fiery orange over everything.

Quentin Thorne sat calmly by the window, face always smiling, continuously pouring tea and offering food to Sienna Thornton.

Seeing that it was getting late, Sienna Thornton felt a bit concerned and asked, "Dean Thorne, are you having dinner at home tonight or at Grandpa Grant’s place?"

"I’ll have dinner at home," Quentin Thorne came to his senses, apologized, "Sorry for keeping you sitting all afternoon. Let’s head back, next time no more tea, it’ll just fill you up."

He said no more tea next time, meaning there would be another chance to meet. Sienna Thornton felt a bit delighted, quickly replied, "Next time I’ll treat you to a meal to thank you for your guidance today."

"Great. How about next Saturday evening? We can have dinner, you decide the place." Quentin Thorne seemed even more eager than her, "Do you still have my business card? Contact me by phone then."

Sienna Thornton hurriedly nodded, "Yes, yes, I’ve stored your number in my phone." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Great," Quentin Thorne stood up, "Let’s head back, before it gets too late and the wind picks up, you’re wearing such thin clothes, you’ll catch a cold."

Facing Quentin Thorne’s concern, Sienna Thornton felt flattered, nodded while biting her lip.

After settling the bill, she followed Quentin Thorne out.

Quentin Thorne took out his car keys and pointed at the black Audi parked by the teahouse entrance, said, "I’ll drive you back."

"Alright, I’ll go back to Grandpa Forrester’s old residence."

Saying this, Sienna Thornton instinctively went to open the rear door, but Quentin Thorne called out, "Annie, sit in the front, I have something to tell you."

"Oh, okay." Sienna Thornton sat in the front passenger seat.

The front passenger seat in a private car is generally reserved for the owner’s family, so Sienna Thornton naturally thought of sitting in the back.

But Quentin Thorne spoke, so she confidently sat in the front passenger seat.

The car drove away from the teahouse premises, and it would take just five minutes to reach the Forrester Family’s old residence.

Sienna Thornton was about to ask what else Quentin Thorne wanted to tell her, when he suddenly spoke in an extraordinarily serious tone, "Annie, let me advise you, never involve yourself with the entertainment industry stuff. Even if the pay is tempting, don’t do it!"

"Yes, I understand."

Sienna Thornton responded gently and obediently. To those in the legal profession like her, Quentin Thorne was like a beacon, so his advice to stay out of the entertainment industry was something she would definitely heed.

The car drove a bit further and merged into the main road, soon reaching the Forrester Family’s old residence.

Quentin Thorne’s manner of speaking became more direct, bypassing tact, "I suggest you pursue politics."

Sienna Thornton was taken aback, turned her head to look at him, "Politics? I’ve never thought about it..."

By this time, it was completely dark, Quentin Thorne driving, eyes focused tightly on the road ahead, the car’s lights casting a glow over his face, reflecting off his glasses.

His expression and tone were exceptionally serious, "This isn’t something achieved overnight. If you aspire to enter the political sphere, I’ll teach you how to plan your future career path. There are certain cases you need to avoid starting from now."

Sienna Thornton was completely bewildered.

She had never considered entering politics.

That sphere was very distant, unreachable for her. She had at most imagined improving her economic situation, possibly joining an international organization in the future, contributing to the nation and national enterprises.

Yet Quentin Thorne’s words made her feel a slight excitement inside.
