Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 265 - 262: Sisters
Two months ago, during the Forrester Group’s legal business outsourcing bidding event, Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester had lunch together at the Forrester’s employee cafeteria.
While eating, they somehow suddenly mentioned Quentin Thorne. Prior to that, they were suspecting that Sienna Thornton’s biological father might not have the last name "Tang" but "Hall." Hence, when Quentin Thorne was mentioned, Simon Forrester suddenly realized that in the Wrayhaven dialect, the pronunciation of "Thorne" and "Tang" is the same.
He was just about to joke with Sienna Thornton that her surname was quite similar to Quentin Thorne’s, but before he could say it, an absurd thought flashed through his mind. He didn’t dare tell Sienna Thornton about his suspicions and, after the meal, hurried to the old mansion.
Old Master Forrester was taking a nap at the time, and Simon Forrester anxiously woke the old man and bluntly asked: "Grandpa, what do Dean Thorne’s parents do?"
Old Master Forrester, woken up, initially intended to lash out, but seeing his beloved grandson’s worried face, he lost his anger and sat up, asking, "Why are you asking this?"
Simon Forrester didn’t dare to mention his suspicion that Quentin Thorne might be Sienna Thornton’s biological father, so he lied, "Candy wants to get close to Dean Thorne, so I came to find out about Dean Thorne."
Old Master Forrester didn’t suspect anything, thought for a while, and said, "Isn’t Mrs. Thorne a professor at Braden University, seems to be in physics. And Thornton, well, he’s been with so many units, how would I know which period you’re talking about?"
"Around the late 80s or early 90s."
"Then I have to think; it’s been so long, how could I remember?"
With that, Old Master Forrester lifted the quilt to get up, and Simon Forrester quickly took the wool coat off the hanger and put it on him.
Old Master Forrester sat in the living room for a while, sipping tea and smoking, thinking for quite a while but couldn’t recall, so at Simon Forrester’s urging, he decided to call Uncle Grant next door.
"Hey Grant, are you taking a nap?"
"Alright! Meet at the gate at two!"
Seeing Old Master Forrester about to hang up, Simon Forrester, standing by, widened his eyes and gestured at him frantically, and Old Master Forrester quickly stopped Old Master Grant from hanging up: "Hey Grant, wait a minute, I have something to ask you. Do you remember where Thornton was in the late 80s and early 90s?"
The atmosphere was silent for a while, and Old Master Forrester listened to the other end of the phone, his eyes on Simon Forrester. After a while, he said to the other end, "Alright, I got it. See you at two."
The call finally ended.
Simon Forrester quickly scooted over, "What did Grandpa Grant say?"
"Dean Thorne’s father was a deputy secretary of a district under Brimfield in the 90s."
"Deputy district secretary?" Simon Forrester asked, "Could a deputy district secretary back then live in a villa?"
"No way! Even the city secretary couldn’t live in a villa, let alone a district secretary. Back then, if a district secretary could live in a state-assigned three-bedroom apartment, that was good enough."
Simon Forrester fell into thought. He clearly remembered Sienna Thornton saying her biological father lived in a standalone house with a courtyard in the late 80s and early 90s.
Could it not be Quentin Thorne?
Just as Simon Forrester thought the trail was lost again, feeling discouraged, Old Master Forrester suddenly said, "However, Dean Thorne’s grandparents were all retired cadres, perhaps living in a retirement center outside the city. That area had townhouses, two houses per row, each with a large yard."
The clue reconnected.
Simon Forrester was overjoyed and hugged Old Master Forrester tightly: "Grandpa, you know so much!"
Being hugged in admiration by his beloved grandson, Old Master Forrester was delighted and immediately made a promise: "Of course! Whatever else you want to know, Grandpa will dig it up for you!"
Simon Forrester seized the moment: "Back then, in the 90s, wasn’t the Grant Family much more prestigious than the Thorne Family?"
"Definitely!" Old Master Forrester said, "Back in the 90s, the Grants were at their peak, were one of the country’s..." Saying this, he gestured three fingers.
Simon Forrester understood immediately.
The Grant Family wasn’t just more prestigious than the Thorne Family; they were worlds apart.
Simon Forrester recalled hearing from Old Master Forrester about the gossip of Quentin Thorne’s unhappy marriage with the eldest Grant daughter, and he immediately imagined—
If back then, the eldest Grant daughter, Ian Grant, and Quentin Thorne were engaged first, but after Quentin Thorne went to Wrayhaven to teach, he fell in love with Melinda Linton, and upon returning home, proposed ending the engagement with Ian Grant, which the Grant Family felt was a disgrace, threatening Quentin Thorne with his family’s jobs. Does this mean Quentin Thorne might have given up on distant Melinda Linton for the sake of family interests?
All these scattered clues combined into a complete, logical, and human ethic event!
Simon Forrester felt Quentin Thorne was very likely Sienna Thornton’s biological father!
Even though he had no substantial evidence, only a self-assembled story chain that might be a coincidence!
He needed to find evidence and confront Quentin Thorne as soon as he found it!
Immediately, he took out his phone and sent a message to Ronan Grant on WeChat: "Send me a recent photo of your cousin, without makeup."
Ronan Grant replied instantly: " (⊙ˍ⊙) Cyrus, don’t you already have Ms. Thornton? What are you up to?"
Simon Forrester was about to threaten him with not hanging out in the future if he didn’t send it, but before he could send, a picture of a short-haired woman without makeup appeared on the screen.
The woman had short hair tucked in, bangs length reaching the eyebrows, parted at three-seven, leaving just her facial features.
Simon Forrester zoomed into the photo; the woman’s features were quite like Sienna Thornton’s, but due to the short hair and the bangs covering the entire forehead, she had a somewhat gloomy temperament, making it difficult to associate with the always refreshingly fore-headed Sienna Thornton at first glance.
Only after careful observation could one see their facial features were remarkably similar.
Simon Forrester wanted to compare more and asked Ronan Grant to send over a few photos of the woman with her forehead revealed.
Ronan Grant quickly sent the photos and added: "My cousin’s name is Mina Thorne, 28 years old, a prosecutor, but she already has a boyfriend, who’s a detective. Simon, don’t mess around or her boyfriend will come after you."
Simon Forrester didn’t reply.
Who cares if she has a boyfriend or not.
Mina Thorne’s photos with her bangs lifted didn’t quite resemble Sienna Thornton overall. Mina had somewhat larger bone structure with a bit of a square face, though her chin was pointed, her jawbone was slightly square, and her cheekbones were bigger, much rougher compared to Sienna Thornton’s delicate oval face.
Looking at them separately, it wasn’t easy to connect them together. But if both stood together, people would probably notice they looked like siblings.
Simon Forrester didn’t linger at the old mansion and immediately drove to the nearest studio, printed out Mina Thorne’s photos with her bangs lifted, along with a certificate-style photo of Sienna Thornton.
With these photos in hand, he went straight to the High Court.
