Chapter 91: Chapter 91 – It’s not a problem

Logan was not going to drop a hint unless he was certain about it. His meeting with Doctor Colton was purely coincidental when he went to run some checks at the hospital where Colton had been transferred.

After some talk after Logan had gotten what he wanted, they agreed on a partnership but that did not mean Logan trusted him in any way.

"It doesn’t matter," he replied harshly. Colton could not say anything more, only asking, "So what is the next plan?"

He wanted Joana, so if Logan could succeed in getting her out of Alex’s cage, then Colton could find a way to free her.

The two partners worked for different gains and did not even trust each other. freewёbnoνel.com

Logan’s only option was his extended family. Alex might try to stop them, but on his wedding day, he would try to be courteous.

"Try to make it to the wedding. I think I have a way to cause chaos on the wedding day," Logan suggested.

Colton was satisfied with the reply. "Good one, but I just hope Alex won’t be upset to see me at the wedding."

He had been warned to stay away from Joana and had even promised to never lay eyes on her again.

But for whatever reason Logan wanted him to attend, and he was willing to take the risk. He missed Joana and would like to see her again.

Logan scoffed. "With all I have planned for him, he won’t have time to notice."

As soon as he ended the call, his assistant brought the desktop phone. "Sir, it’s your grandpa."

Logan frowned, wondering about the unexpected call from his grandpa but answered it. "Grandpa, is there a problem?"

The old man never casually called to check on anyone, so there must be a good reason for this call.

He was astonished by the response that reached his ears. "Congratulations, Logan. The finance manager has sent me documents to sign to transfer five percent of your shares to Alex. Did you stir up trouble?"

Logan had neglected to follow the old man’s example when he sent the email that day and had forgotten that final approval for the share transfer would have to come from him.

However, the old man knew that the only reason Logan would agree to such a condition was if he had done something wrong, as there was no way Logan would willingly give his money to Alex.

Logan suppressed the overwhelming emotions swirling within him and maintained a composed demeanor.

If he lost his temper, he might inadvertently reveal secrets.

"Grandpa, it’s not an issue. The problem was with my ex, but it’s been resolved. No need to worry. Please proceed with the transfer."

The old man sighed on the other end of the line, not entirely convinced, and reminded him once more. "For the last time, Logan, please be cautious, and I hope you don’t cause any trouble at the wedding."

Logan marveled at how the old man always saw through him, consistently hitting the mark.

It also dawned on him the painful truth that if the old man’s assessments were accurate, Alex was indeed the good grandson, while Logan was the troublesome one. The old man’s perception of him pushed Logan to improve his act.

"If I run into trouble, I can always sign off some shares. Alex needs to be prepared. Joanna belongs to me," Logan asserted confidently.

If only Alex hadn’t interfered and let him pursue Violet as he wished, things would have been different.

How could Alex take Joanna from him and prevent him from winning Violet back?

This meant that Alex would have to endure the same pain and bitterness that Logan was experiencing.

The old man was pleased that Alex had moved on from resorting to violence or illegal activities and was now making money by dealing with troublemakers like his brother.

He suggested using the same approach with other members of the extended family.

"I hope you don’t end up broke by the time he’s done with you. You can’t beat Alex," Grandpa Aristotle warned Logan seriously, knowing the strengths of both his grandchildren.

Logan felt bitter hearing this from his grandpa. While the old man trusted Alex, what about him? I see you prefer the ruthless grandson to the soft one," pain resonated in his voice, impossible to conceal.

The old man chuckled on the other end of the line and hinted, "One day, you will understand the sacrifices Alex makes to keep us all safe."

Only Grandpa knew the extent of what Alex had become, and he couldn’t blame him. It was better for one person to embrace the darkness that protected the family than for all to perish in the light.

Logan scoffed, "Stop trying to paint him as the hero when we both know he’s not."

Grandpa Aristotle fell silent, realizing further discussion was futile. "Alright, I will hang up now."

Logan remained unsatisfied, contemplating a new strategy to achieve his goals. The only person who could assist him at that moment was Mia, so he dialed her number.

Mia’s voice sounded groggy as she answered, clearly just waking up, "Hello, who is this?"

Despite his frustration, Logan couldn’t fault her for being asleep and not checking the caller ID.

"I’m surprised you can still sleep while our enemies are gaining ground."

Mia’s eyes cleared instantly as she responded, "What are you talking about? Dad banned me from going to the office until after the wedding, so I’m not up to date on the details."

"Well, since our previous plans have failed, the wedding is still on. Do you have any other ideas?" Logan inquired, curious to see if Mia had a new plan in mind.

Mia pondered for a moment, nervously biting her left fingernail while holding the phone in her right hand.

"I do have a plan," she finally said.

Amused, Logan listened, hoping that this plan would be more successful than their previous attempts. "Let’s hear it."
