Chapter 90: Chapter 90 – Refund with Penalty
"Here’s what we’ll do. Call him back and inform him that he needs to come in person to collect the refund with a penalty. Also, let him know that his order has been canceled by your boss."
This marked the first time they had to cancel an order, and the penalty was set at thirty percent of the contract amount. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Despite the potential loss of money, Alex saw this as an opportunity to gather information from the man. However, Dario raised a valid concern.
"What if he refuses to come in person and insists on receiving the refund through a bank transfer or another method?" Dario asked.
Alex was growing frustrated with the questions, as all the necessary information was clearly outlined in their terms of purchase.
It was possible that Dario had forgotten, as this rule had never been enforced since the agency’s inception.
All their clients went through the process with neither of them requestion for termination.
"Have you forgotten our contract terms? We refund in the same currency and mode of transaction as the original payment," Alex reminded him.
This meant that if the transaction was conducted through a bank, the refund would be processed the same way.
Similarly, if cash was used, the refund would be issued in cash. The refund would also be processed by the same individual, unless they were unable to do so.
"If the person is unable to collect the refund in person, they must send an email appointing someone else to do so on their behalf," Alex clarified.
Through that means, they would still be able to nail whoever’s email address was being used.
Dario acknowledged his understanding, and Alex continued with his instructions.
"Prior to investigating Tom and his associates, send Joanna and her bodyguard back to her office discreetly without leaving a trace."
All he had to do was wait for Salvador’s men to leave after returning Joanna and Jack, and then he would take over.
"Understood, Salvador. I will handle it," Dario said with renewed determination.
After leaving the report room, Dario tried calling the person who had hired them, but his phone had no coverage, so he sent a text message instead.
’We regret to inform you that we have to cancel your order. Please come to the office for a refund with the penalty as specified in the contract. The goods will be returned to their home country.’
This was their way of indicating that Joanna and her bodyguard would be returned to where they were taken from.
Dario waited to see if he would receive a reply to track the person, but none came.
Upon receiving the message, Tom was disappointed and sent a text to Colton.
"Sorry, boss, but there’s a major issue."
Colton panicked and quickly replied with a question, "What’s wrong?"
Tom, fearing being tracked, turned his phone on and off at short intervals.
He was about to make a move when he received a reply and promptly responded to it.
The message stated that Salvador’s men did not want to deal with Joanna and her bodyguard. The boss had instructed them to collect the money, but he was out of the country.
’Salvador’s men do not want to be involved with Joanna and her bodyguard. I just received a message from their boss to come for the money. But I’m out of the country.’
Colton was shocked to see his plans falling apart. How could Salvador’s men be afraid of Alex? If they weren’t, why would they back out of the deal because of him?
The more he pondered, the more confused and fearful he became about the mysterious man in the wheelchair who could instill such fear.
Restless, he called Logan, but Logan was upset and didn’t want to be involved.
"I told you not to call me," Logan responded sternly, leaving Colton puzzled by his reaction.
"I know, but there’s a problem. Salvador’s men want to back out and return the money," Colton explained.
Logan was furious on the other end of the line. This was his closest chance to get Joanna back. He suspected she might not return to work, preparing for the wedding.
The abduction was planned for today, but unforeseen issues kept him at the office, adding to his troubles.
"How dare they?" he raged. "Joanna is mine," he said possessively. Colton was stunned but remained silent. This was not the agreement they had, but Logan had more to say. "It was just a misunderstanding, and I want her back."
Hearing this, Colton was upset. It meant that Joanna had dated Logan before marrying Alex, and the saddest part was that he could not make his intentions known.
Logan was wealthier and was also the one sponsoring everything.
"Well, Salvador’s men have her but are not going to release her to us," Colton explained further, but Logan’s hiss caused him to move the phone away from his ears.
"Bullshit."
The call ended as Logan fumed in the office. Things were crashing down, forcing his assistant to come over, since Logan was in charge of one of the branches of the Kings Multinational.
"Sir, is there a problem?"
"Get out. I want to be left alone," Logan yelled, flipping his office desk upside down.
His assistant hurried out as if he were being chased, leaving Logan to wrestle with his thoughts.
The more he pondered it, the more convinced he became that Salvador was somehow involved with Alex.
How else could Alex’s voice carry such weight, and how could he possess such skill? The situation was complex, and Logan realized he couldn’t win this stage anymore.
He dialed Colton, forcing himself to calm down before speaking. "Fine, we lost the money," he admitted, but Colton disagreed. The money was crucial for their next stage.
If Logan didn’t want it, Colton did. He argued, "We need to retrieve it."
Logan felt like he was talking to a fool. "Why don’t you go for it? What if it’s a ploy to uncover who is behind all of this?" he suggested. Colton snapped to attention.
"How did you figure that out? Do you know who’s behind this?" he asked suspiciously.
