OMG!!! My Crippled Husband is a Hot, Powerful CEO-Chapter 92 – Everything is just messy in my head
Chapter 92: Chapter 92 – Everything is just messy in my head
Joanna hasn’t met her target, so obviously, she won’t have the company," Mia revealed. Logan wondered what that information had to do with him.
"What does that have to do with me having her?" He asked, his voice tinged with annoyance. Mia felt bitter that despite everything, Joanna still won.
Even if Joanna couldn’t regain the company, she would always have Alex and possibly Logan.
Joanna, the illegitimate daughter who had suffered all her life, was now the one every man desired. Mia, who had a privileged upbringing with both her father and mother, found herself unattractive to anyone, even a cripple.
Logan had deceived her with his false love, losing interest after being with her once.
Now, he was professing his love for Joanna, leaving Mia to wonder if he had ever truly cared for her.
If he had Joanna like he had her, would he be so desperate to win her back now? Perhaps that was what drew him to Joanna time and time again.
"I don’t know. I just thought it might benefit you, but at least the company would be secure with me," Mia responded confidently, no longer concerned about Logan.
"Are you sure about this?" Logan asked from the other end of the line, knowing that Alex would never let Joanna lose. Mia frowned and replied from her side of the line.
"What are you talking about?" She asked.
Logan hinted, "What if she met her target? I doubt Alex would see her fail," but Mia was not ready to hear it.
Joanna would lose as far as Mia was concerned.
"I’m certain because if she had, then any member from the finance team would have informed us," she stated firmly.
Ever since being at home, she waited for such news but none came and with the wedding close, it was impossible.
Logan sighed, accepting that Mia had no need for him at the moment since she already secured the company.
It was up to him to get his woman back, and this time, he was determined to treat her better and even make Violet envious for refusing to return to him.
"Alright. I guess I’m the only loser here. I will find my way," Logan said.
Joanna woke up in her car with Jack sleeping in the driver’s seat. "Jack, why are you sleeping?" Her eyes were blurry as she looked around her environment.
Jack was woken from his sleep by her voice and felt lost in wonder at what had happened. "Ma’am, are you alright? I don’t know why I fell asleep. I’m sorry, but I think I should alert the boss."
As Jack fished out his phone, Joanna asked, "Was anything dropped in the car?" This was the same way she felt the day she ate the food laced with sedatives, but Jack had no answers this time.
"I haven’t noticed anything like that," Jack shook his head as he pressed the alert code that would signal to Alex that they were in danger.
"Then let’s go and pick up Violet. She must be waiting for us," Joanna suggested, wondering how long she had slept. However, Jack, checking the time on his phone, advised against it. frёeωebɳovel.com
"Ma’am, it’s past midnight."
How is that possible? And where is my phone?" Joanna asked, feeling confused as she searched for her phone. Jack, knowing where she usually kept it, reminded her,
"Ma’am, it should be in your bag."
She found her phone in her bag, but it was switched off. "I don’t remember turning it off. What exactly happened?"
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Joanna saw a familiar man in a wheelchair.
She quickly opened the door and ran into his arms, sitting on his thighs. "Alex, thank God you’re here." His presence gave her a sense of security.
"Are you alright?" Alex asked, lovingly combing her hair with his fingers. Joanna stiffened as she suddenly realized her actions and slowly lifted herself from his leg, squatting beside him.
"I don’t know. I don’t know how I slept so deeply."
Alex, understanding the situation, was still concerned. "Do you want to see a doctor?"
Joanna shook her head, feeling fine but mentally disoriented. "No. I feel fine, but everything is just messy in my head."
Alex smiled faintly and decided to be honest with her. "Some people tried to kidnap you, but everything is fine."
Fear spiraled through Joanna at the revelation, and she asked, "Who?"
"I don’t know, but investigations are ongoing. Come, join me in my car. Jack, you go home and rest," Alex softly instructed.
As far as he was concerned, he would make sure that nothing of this sort ever happens again and also, he would fish out all those behind it.
"What about Violet?" Joanna asked. Alex recalled the girl had been worried and kept calling until he decided not to answer her calls anymore.
"I will have Jack pick her up in the mor..." His phone began ringing, and he recognized the caller ID. It was her again. "She’s the one."
He answered the call and spoke directly. "Don’t worry, Violet. I found her. I will have her driver pick you up later."
Violet was relieved but insisted. "No. I want to see her now. I couldn’t go home not knowing how she was faring."
It meant she was still at the office because of the message, "Alright, we will pass by and get you."
"Thanks, but can I speak with her?" Violet was persistent, but Alex didn’t want to waste any more time.
"You will see her when we get there."
Ike drove to Violet’s office in the middle of the night, and only after seeing Joanna, was she okay.
"Joanna, how are you?"
"I guess I’m fine," Joanna forced a smile, confusion brewing in her mind. "Let’s go."
Arriving at the mansion, everybody was tired and went to sleep, but Joanna woke up early.
With Violet asleep, she didn’t want to wake her, but on the stairs, there were drops of blood leading to the room next to hers. That room was occupied by none other than Alex.
"Alex," she mused, her heart thumping in her chest.
