OMG!!! My Crippled Husband is a Hot, Powerful CEO-Chapter 89 – The Order
Chapter 89: Chapter 89 – The Order
Alex was seething with anger, but given that his wife was involved, he knew he had to keep a clear head and remain composed.
Suspecting that the person who abducted his wife might have discovered his relationship with Dion, Alex made sure that the new CCTV cameras were installed.
He then sent a coded message to Dario.
’You were tasked with protecting Alex King’s wife, yet she and her bodyguard are missing. Do you want to risk losing your job? You have twelve hours to return her to her husband.’
Despite his anger, Alex managed to calm down because he had a contingency plan in place.
Besides, no one had to know that he was Salvatore.
The men he had trained were now overseeing the new recruits, ensuring strategic assignments.
This gave Alex confidence that he would soon have a lead on Joanna’s whereabouts.
Once that was resolved, he could focus on finding the woman who had saved Dion.
At present, Dion was uncooperative, and Alex could do little until after the wedding, when he could address the situation directly.
To his surprise, he received a prompt response from Dario, almost as if Dario had been anticipating his message.
’Salvador, I followed your instructions, and Alex King’s wife is safe.’
A wave of relief washed over Alex, though he wasn’t entirely shocked. By having his men shadow Joanna and Jack, it was only logical that they would be aware of her location and well-being.
’Please elaborate,’ Alex replied in a code message.
Dario’s response took a few minutes, indicating a detailed explanation.
’Salvador, we were approached by a man named Tom to abduct a woman named Joanna. Upon investigation, we discovered she was the same individual you had mentioned. I instructed them to proceed with the abduction but to ensure her safety under our watch.’
Alex was pleased that his men were assigned the job and impressed by how they executed it cleanly without leaving any traces.
Joanna was safe but until she was back under his roof, he would not be satisfied.
Also, anyone behind this arrangement would not go unpunished. As such, he had to gain more details, so he instructed,
"Bring all the evidence to the reporting room now."
Although Alex was curious to know who was behind the operation, he knew he had to keep a low profile until after the wedding.
Any issues could escalate into fights and gunfights, which he couldn’t risk when he was trying to secure everything for Dion.
If it were just for his benefit, then there would be no need to fight for the Kings Multinational.
"Yes, sir," Dario agreed, despite the late hour.
Thinking of Nancy, Alex inquired discreetly, "What about Nancy?"
Dario assured him, "She’s asleep and won’t wake up soon." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Alex wanted things to move quickly so Dario could return to Nancy. "Then hurry up," he urged.
Alex and Edmund stayed late at the office, knowing the next day was a weekend. Edmund used the time to catch up on some backlogs, anticipating overtime pay.
Dario arrived at the reporting room in about thirty minutes, and Alex eagerly activated the virtual meeting.
A video played on the screen, showing Joanna peacefully asleep on a bed, though the room was not as luxurious as Alex would have preferred for her.
On the floor lay the tough bodyguard, curled up like a worm. It was evident that they were both under the influence of a sedative, causing them to sleep for an extended period.
This was the second time they had experienced something like this, and Alex vowed silently that it would be the last.
"We kept them together to provide mutual comfort in case one of them wakes up prematurely, but if you prefer, we can return them before the effects of the sedative wear off," Dario explained, prompting Alex to consider his options.
"What were the specific instructions accompanying the order?" Alex activated his disguised voice, giving him a robotic tone.
Dario displayed the agreement on the screen, but to expedite the process, he provided a verbal explanation.
"Tom requested that Joanna miss her wedding, and we could release her afterward. The reason for this request was not disclosed."
Alex’s jaw clenched as he reviewed the customer’s request on the screen, monitoring the situation through the surveillance cameras in the control room.
His first suspect was Logan, but he had no proof at the moment. He asked further, "How much did he pay?"
"Five million," came the reply.
Such a significant amount for a seemingly simple job was on the high side, indicating the determination of the person to achieve their goal.
"Have you investigated him yet?" Alex inquired, hoping for concrete evidence to confirm his suspicions.
"Yes, but after receiving the information you sent me, I instructed some of our agents to keep tabs on him. They reported that he left the state."
This scenario seemed familiar, prompting Alex to wonder if this person was the same individual responsible for drugging Joanna’s food.
Alex was currently at a standstill, so all he could do was be patient until after the wedding.
Then, he would ensure justice for anyone who dared to obstruct him. "They always manage to escape, but do you have a picture of him?" he asked Dario, who nodded and projected an image on the screen.
That’s him on the screen. We took the picture during the transaction. He paid in cash."
Alex gazed at the image on the screen but couldn’t place him. In short, the person was unfamiliar.
"It’s smart of him not to want to be tracked, but I have a feeling he’s working for someone else."
Dario agreed with a nod. "That’s what I think too, but I don’t have much information on that."
A smile crossed Alex’s face as an idea formed in his mind. It was the first time he was going to attempt something like this, but it was all for the protection of his wife.
"Here’s what you can do..."
