Chapter 112: Chapter 112 – A Girl of Low Value

"Then give it back. And why are you still holding me? Are you falling for me?" Aiden’s arms around her loosened instantly, but his words extinguished something within her.

Aiden stared at Violet with a look of disgust in his eyes. "Fall for a girl of one-night stands, no way. I don’t dream of getting married, but even if I did, it would be with a girl with more dignity and honor."

Violet paled instantly, and something died within her. This was the worst insult she had ever received in her life.

She never cried for a man, but this time, tears stung the corners of her eyes. She held back instead of letting them fall and ran out of the reception.

Aiden realized the impact of his words, guilt filling his heart as he chased after her.

She was the best friend of his best friend’s wife. Though he wanted to extinguish any hopes of a relationship between them, he knew he had gone too far.

After a thorough search, Violet could not be found. He checked the surveillance cameras and saw Jack talking to her before a car arrived. The man did not step out of the car before Violet entered, so he confronted Jack.

"I saw you speaking to Violet. Where is she?"

"I don’t know," Jack shook his head. Alex had instructed him to take Violet anywhere she wanted to go, but Violet was upset and refused to sit in his car.

"What do you mean you don’t know? I saw you talking to her," Aiden showed him the footage from the CCTV camera, and Jack forced a smile.

"Yes, the boss said I should protect her, but she refused to come to me, instead calling her brother on the phone. I don’t know where they are headed."

’So, she has a brother. Then she’s safe,’ Aiden thought to himself.

"That means we don’t have to worry," Aiden shrugged. Jack wanted to say more but thought otherwise.

From Violet’s conversations with Joanna, Jack had realized that Violet’s brother was not very responsible.

Wasn’t he the one who left her at a club for a girl, and she ended up in a room with an unknown man?

Jack had no idea that the man was Aiden, but he overheard Violet saying she couldn’t find the man’s identity when she paid for the surveillance cameras in the hotel to be checked.

He had wiped them all. "Are you going to tell me what happened?" Travis asked in the car. Violet was reluctant. With such an insult, she couldn’t confide in anyone, including Joanna.

"Nothing. Just take me to the club," Violet instructed. Travis was reluctant since he had a clear head, unlike the night he had drunk so much and left her at the club.

"Dressed like this? I’m taking you home."

"I don’t want to go home," Violet refused, crying like a little girl. Travis was shocked. Violet was tougher than him and would never cry for anything.

"What happened? Tell me, or I’ll take you home. You can’t be sad after attending your best friend’s wedding."

How could she explain that her best friend’s husband’s best friend had insulted her, calling her a woman of no value?

She wiped her tears and forced a smile. "It’s nothing, really. I just miss Joanna already and I can’t help but wonder when it will be my turn to get married."

"Are you feeling jealous?" Travis asked, surprised by the notion, as he knew Violet never displayed jealousy.

"No, not jealous, just feeling like it’s time for me to settle down. Maybe this will be my last night out at the club. I promise to be more responsible after this."

Travis was taken aback by her words, wondering what had changed in his usually carefree sister. Their father had always trusted her because of her dedication to work.

"Alright, let’s have a good time tonight, but you need to change your outfit."

Violet shook her head. "No, this is fine. It should just be the two of us, celebrating my farewell to the wildlife."

Violet remembered the saying that the best revenge was to become a better version of oneself.

"Okay, let’s go." Travis and Violet arrived at the club and opted not to book a VIP room. They settled at the bar, where Violet drowned her sorrows in drinks.

She was relieved that her excuse had worked, as Travis might not have brought her otherwise. However, one thing was certain: she was determined that this would be her last visit to the club.

"Give her a double of whatever she’s having," a man in a black suit with a cigarette in hand remarked as he took a seat on a bar stool near Violet.

"Stay away, I can take care of her," Travis interjected irritably, but Violet stopped him. She wasn’t even tipsy yet, far from reaching her limit.

"It’s fine, Travis. A little chat won’t hurt," she assured him.

The man seemed slightly disappointed but accepted the invitation, engaging in conversation with them throughout the night. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

However, amidst the crowd and the loud music, no one noticed another man entering the club and making his way to the bar.

Upon seeing Violet chatting happily and enjoying her martini, something inside him withered, and he turned and left.

"I thought things would be different. What a hypocrite! She feigned offense when what I said was true. Yet here she is, back at the same place with another man," Aiden muttered to himself as he exited the club, keeping his apology to himself.

In his eyes, Violet was exactly as he had described her, so there was no point in feeling guilty or offering an apology. All he had to do was let Alex know that Violet was not a good influence on his wife.

At the designated spot, a hot air balloon landed where a camel was waiting for them. Joana was excited about the adventure, but Alex had a feeling that something was not right.
