Nightmare Assault-Chapter 492: Claw Mark
“Why are they taking so long?” Weiwei was worried since she saw that the elevator hadn’t moved from the underground first floor. The sky outside darkened. Soon, the last ray of light would fall below the horizon. If they hadn’t returned by then…
“Could something have happened to them?” Wang Changguo whispered. He was scared of and hated Jiang Cheng. If he died down there, it wouldn’t be too bad.
A sound came from the right. Lin Wan ‘Er turned to the stairs. Someone was running up the steps. A figure rushed out of the stairwell.
When she identified the man, Weiwei’s face brightened. “It’s Kui Yi!”
Kui Yi spotted them, but he didn’t rush over immediately. After a short observation, he strode over. “Why are you here?” He looked around. “Where is the rest?”
“They’ve gone to the morgue,” Weiwei answered.
That was their plan, but to everyone’s surprise, Kui Yi’s face dropped. “Haven’t they returned?” Kui Yi probably found some clues because he looked anxious. “We can’t wait any longer. I’m going upstairs. You…” Kui Yi regarded the three. From his reaction, he probably discovered something important. The clue was probably related to the survival of the group that had gone to the morgue. Since they hadn’t returned, everyone knew that something had happened, but no one wanted to say it aloud.
“What clues did you find?” Lin Wan ‘Er asked.
“I don’t have the time to explain it. I need to go upstairs to verify something. The situation is not as simple as we anticipated!” Kui Yi rambled.
Lin Wan ‘Er studied at the elevator. Then, she pressed the button.
“What are you doing?” Wang Changguo was frightened. He had a feeling the elevator would bring something horrible up to the surface. He wanted to run away, but he didn’t have the guts. Those separated from the group would be targeted. In his hesitation, Wang Changguo’s face turned purple.
However, the elevator appeared to have been stuck. It didn’t move. Something did happen!
Lin Wan ‘Er didn’t hesitate. She turned to Kui Yi. “I’ll go with you.” She ordered the rest in a firm tone, “The rest of you will stay here. They are trapped underground. They are not dead.’
“That’s right.” Kui Yi agreed, “There are three of them. It’s impossible for all of them to be wiped out.”
Lin Wan ‘Er left with Kui Yi. They didn’t take the elevator but used the stairs. When only Wang Changguo and Weiwei remained, Wang Changguo became anxious. After all, Jiang Cheng, Kui Yi and Lin Wan ‘Er were gone. Anyone who could make decisions had left. He felt free. However, what if they ran into ghosts? Was he going to rely on Weiwei? He didn’t think she was more reliable than he was.
He narrowed his eyes. If Kui Yi were right and the ghost would only kill one person at a time, he only needed to run faster than Weiwei.
While Wang Changguo was thinking, another rush of footsteps came from the stairwell. Unlike Kui Yi’s footsteps, these sounded heavier. The rhythm was also more chaotic. If he had to describe it, it sounded like a drunkard was clobbering up the stairs.
Before Weiwei and Wang Changguo could react, another person burst out of the stairwell. The person stumbled. He had to lean on the wall to stop himself from falling. As the figure looked up, Weiwei’s face paled, and Wang Changguo widened his eyes.
“Kui Yi?!” Weiwei gasped. So, who was…
Weiwei felt ice growing in her veins. Her teeth chittered.
“I was assaulted by the ghost. I barely escaped,” Kui Yi explained weekly. He looked like he was injured. He placed his hand over his stomach as blood leaked out through his fingers. “There’s something wrong with Director Qi. He… is Zhao Ru’s biological father.” Kui Yi looked pained. However, he insisted on finishing.
“Please stop talking.” Weiwei rushed over and caught Kui Yi before he fell. “How are you doing?”
Weiwei moved Kui Yi’s arm. She sucked in a cold breath. Three giant wounds almost tore his stomach open. The wounds were even and neat. They looked like animal scratches. However, they were not at the zoo. Where would the beasts come from?
It was the ghost! It had to be!
Just as Weiwe told Kui Yi that the ghost had disguised itself as him and had tricked Lin Wan ‘Er away, Kui Yi started to cough violently.
“Quick…” Kui Yi grabbed Weiwei’s arm tightly. “We need to save her!”
Wang Changguo thought Kui Yi had lost his mind. He could barely save himself. Why would he save the woman? Was he involved with her?
“Calm down. I’ll stop your bleeding first.” Weiwei had trouble moving the man, so she called after Wang Changguo. “Why are you standing there? Help me!”
Wang Changguo finally slumped over. He was terrified by the looks of Kui Yi’s injury. He was worried that he’d be the next target after he was stained by the blood. Would the ghost return to find them after killing Lin Wan ‘Er? No. They would come after Kui Yi. He mustn’t stay by his side.
Wang Changguo held Kui Yi and began with concern, “No. Lin Wan ‘Er doesn’t know she has a ghost with her. I’ll go inform her.”
“Are you going alone?” Weiwei was confused. The man was suddenly so kind.
“That’s the only way. Weiwei, you should help him. I’ll figure out a way to contact Lin Wan ‘Er,” Wang Changguo claimed proudly.
“You’d better be careful.”
“Okay.”
Wang Changguo ran. He moved from the other end of the corridor so Weiwei and Kui Yi wouldn’t see him. “I can’t die. The rest of you can die if you want to.” Wang Changguo gritted his teeth and moved faster.
The nurse station was on the fourth floor. It was hard to move around with the injured Kui Yi. Weiwei reached for the elevator button.
“No. Don’t take the elevator.” Kui Yi hissed through the pain. “Use the stairs. It’s slower… But it’s fine. I can hang in there.”
