New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 639: Distress and questions
"What do you mean she flew away?" Alhai asked, eyebrows furrowing as he stared at his friend.
"She flew away!" The red haired mediator repeated for the nth time and gestured towards the door with an exaggerated look on his face. "What part of my sentence are you not getting?! She has wings! WINGS! And she flew away using those wings!"
"Yes—" Alhai choked out, holding back a laugh. "But I mean, why would she fly away? Coco’s here, isn’t she?"
Who knew that the day of witnessing Zaque look like he was some crazy person would come sooner than later? He wished that he somehow knew what would happen tonight, so he would have got his camera from his bedroom and snapped a photo of Zaque.
"That’s because, according to her, it’s Richard’s mating season." The first husband stated, his teeth gritting with each other. "So she decided to stay with him during his mating season."
Alhai and Kairo froze in their spot at what they heard, their eyes widening in surprise.
"Mating season?" Alhai repeated, eyebrows furrowing.
"Why would Richard have a mating season?" Kairo, on the other hand, felt a little confused about what’s happening to the king beast.
"Well, yes? Oh wait, you didn’t know?" Alhai blinked owlishly and slowly turned his head to look at the soon-to-be fifth husband. "Richard isn’t a human. He’s a king beast. He’s the king of all the goleters in the land."
"He’s a what—" Kairo gasped, flabbergasted.
Zaque slammed his hands on the table and intentionally stopped Kairo’s reaction. "We’ll get to your shock later on, but for now, we must think of what to tell our wife!"
Alhai hummed and shrugged his shoulders. "Just keep her distracted for the whole night for now?"
"Distract her?" Kairo repeated and turned to look at Alhai. "What about her mother? The walls are not that thin, you know? Noise gets past them, too."
Simultaneously, the first and third husbands whipped their heads to look at him.
"What do you mean?" Zaque was the first one to ask, eyebrows raising. "When my father first had this place built.. He made sure that walls in our rooms, even your room by the way, won’t let a single sound escape."
Alhai nodded his head. "I remembered Zaque saying that when Quizen got added to the picture."
"When was this house built?" Kairo couldn’t help, but ask, his eyes sweeping towards the walls of the kitchen with a puzzled look on his face. "Why did it look.. Excuse me for my choice words, why did it look old when me and the young master arrived here?"
Zaque’s eyes narrowed. "You’re excused."
"To answer your question, this house was built approximately eight years ago." The silver haired mediator answered, stepping forward and flashing the hybrid a smile.
"What?" Zaque raised an eyebrow and turned to Alhai. "How did you know? I don’t remember telling you that."
"I was able to tell due to the files I saw in the basement the night we arrived." Alhai quickly explained, nudging his head towards the kitchen door. "Heiren went straight to the kitchen and I decided to look around for a moment, then found a couple of boxes down there."
"I don’t remember leaving any files down in the basement.." Zaque mumbled, eyebrows furrowing. "This house didn’t get used by anyone before actually."
Alhai scoffed and crossed his arms. "As if. I saw some of your father’s clothing. I believe Sinclair and his servants merely threw them away because they were covered with debrises and dust."
"But that’s impossible." Zaque insisted once more, his frown deepening. "My father is dead.. And I donated some things to the orphanage before I got married to Coco."
Alhai and Kairo blinked, not expecting such news from the first husband.
"T-Then.. Does the original Coco not know of this?" Alhai asked, taking another step forward towards Zaque. "How about your father’s debt? If he’s dead, then why did you still get married to Coco?"
"His remaining debt was precisely why I was married off to the Baroness’ daughter." Zaque laughed, the sound soft and unbothered.
Kairo shot the red haired mediator a pointed stare. "This is no laughing matter, Zaque."
"Yes.. That’s true." Zaque hummed and walked over to the kitchen door. "But you see, if it weren’t for me getting married to Coco Hughes, then I wouldn’t have known who Coco Coison was."
"Coco Coison?" Kairo repeated, confusion laced on his voice.
"Coco Hughes is dead." Another voice interjected, causing everyone inside the kitchen to look at the person who walked inside the room. "Her body got taken over by Coco Coison, the Coco you have bumped into the moment you stepped foot on Yogusho Village."
"Heiren." Zaque blinked, surprised to see the second husband on the first floor. "Aren’t you supposed to be fetching Quizen?"
As soon as Heiren heard the fourth husband’s name, a scowl emerged in his face. "Right.. Speaking of which.."
Heiren trailed off for a moment and glanced at Zaque. "I think it’s best if you go to his room after an hour. Just give Coco some moment to breathe."
"Did something happen?" Kairo asked, worry creeping into his veins.
"No, not really." Heiren sighed out and pressed his finger on his temple. "Quizen went a little hard on her. She’s quite tired, but it seemed like she still wanted more when I left his bedroom, so she still needs Zaque."
"Right.." Kairo mumbled, nodding his head. "Then why is it just Zaque and Quizen? Why can’t you and Alhai accompany her for the night as well?"
Is Kairo worried about the unfairness of the situation? Zaque couldn’t help, but smile at the thought.
"It’s because me and Heiren already had our turn." The third husband decided to answer, causing Kairo to look in his direction. "Don’t worry though. You’ll have yours once you get married to her."
Kairo’s face became warm at the last sentence because how could he say such a thing out loud?
