New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 573: A conversation between a familiar and a mother
The hybrid and Cleora watched as Coco exited the room, with her face being beet red.
"My, my.. My baby girl has really grown." Cleora giggled, smiling wide at how pleased and happy she felt for her daughter.
Most mothers have a dream that they want for their children and most of those mothers are praying for their children to meet someone who will treat them well until they are old.
Cleora was one of those mothers.
She had never wished for anything extravagant for her daughters, only that they should finish college and stand on their own feet by the time they enter the working life as an adult.
She had never expected to have kids, considering that her oldest is a heartbreaker and her youngest is a lesbian.
She also never had any expectations from Coco because she had always coped herself inside the house, only leaving when she had to go to her university and have to do projects with her batch mates.
Coco is the type of child that any other parent would like to have because she was cheerful, clever, and never caused trouble.
In fact, she was scared to cause trouble and was anxious to be included in any problem that she had resorted to locking herself inside their house— just helping around with chores.
She had never caused trouble, and Cleora was thankful for that.
"She really has grown, ma’am." Sinclair agreed, nodding his head with a smile of his own. "She can’t be bothered with relationships before, but look at her now."
Cleora turned her head to Sinclair and tilted her head. "Have you been by my daughter’s side for long?"
"No, ma’am." Sinclair said, leaning back to the couch. "But I guess.. I have been by her side for long enough to share a story or two about her. Only if you would like."
"Of course!" Cleora brightened up and shot him a wide smile. "Tell me about what my daughter has been up to these days, please!"
Sinclair’s heart skipped a beat, his eyes widening at the sight of Cleora’s smile.
It was so strange to see an acquaintance of his, who is known for her seclusion from the outside world and had never been enthusiastic about her life, to smile so freely— like there was nothing chaining her anymore.
Well, in a sense, nothing is really chaining her anymore because she’s no longer in this world.
Someone had taken over her body and that someone happened to be his master’s mother, a person that Coco had never talked about with anyone.
Sinclair cleared his throat, shaking off the warm feeling in his chest and forced a smile on his face. "I-I see.. For starters, your daughter has been nothing, but kind and thoughtful to the people around her."
Cleora giggled, the sound soft and quiet. "She has always been like that. Not just her actually, even her sisters." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Sinclair froze, and a frown made its way to his face. Sisters? Coco had never mentioned anything about having sisters from her previous life— in fact, she had never mentioned anything about her previous life.
She was always bouncing around and smiling, but there were days that she felt under the weather.
Sinclair shared those feelings, only a fraction of it, so he knows that Coco felt worse than him during those days.
Still, he couldn’t help, but be upset at the fact that he knows nothing about his master.
"She.. My master was always smiling, talking, and working whenever I came to see her, but she had never really opened up to me." Sinclair stated, his gaze drifting down to the floor.
"Since I’m her familiar, I’m connected to her emotionally." Sinclair pursed his lips and paused for a moment, his eyebrows furrowing. "I could feel whenever she’s down, happy, and mad.. Because her emotions are quite strong, you see."
Cleora watched as Sinclair continued to ramble, sadness overtaking her features.
It was obvious for her that the hybrid before her, or whatever he said he is, cares deeply for her daughter, but Coco is not the type to just confide in anyone.
Back on Earth, Cleora also had a hard time to know what was running through Coco’s mind.
But she had learned that Coco tended to seek warm hugs and loving kisses whenever she’s down, opting to tackle anyone in the living room the moment she steps through the front door.
There were days that she would find her daughters huddled on the couch and are cuddling.
When those sights greeted her, she knew immediately that Coco was feeling upset about something and was seeking comfort again.
So the fact that Sinclair was sad that Coco had not opened up to him, Cleora couldn’t help, but feel a little bad— it’s not like Coco doesn’t trust him, she has always been that way.
With this topic coming to mind, Cleora wondered if her daughter had confided in her husbands or not.
Actually, she would like to know how Coco got herself four husbands, with the fifth seemingly about to be added to the number sooner than later, when she couldn’t be bothered about romance before.
Before that though, she has to offer some comfort to the whimpering hybrid.
"The time will come." Cleora spoke up and flashed Sinclair a reassuring smile. "It may take a while, but trust me, it will come."
Sinclair nodded his head, not able to truly believe her words, but the look of sincerity on her face was enough to at least believe a little, even if he knew that it might not happen.
"You and Coco share a couple of similarities." Sinclair chuckled quietly and shook his head.
"Hm?" Cleora hummed, tilting her head.
"She often assures people like that.. I always wondered how and where she learned it from because she’s good with words." The hybrid stated, shrugging his shoulders.
"Is that a compliment, dear?" Cleora asked, her eyes flickering with relief.
"You may take it as a compliment."
