New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 236: Disagreement and quest
Chapter 236: Disagreement and quest
"Then let’s talk about it, okay?" Zaque said, taking a step forward towards Coco.
In response, Coco took a step back, her eyebrows furrowed in worry as she put more distance between her and Zaque, "No, I don’t want to, Zaque. I already made up my mind."
"Made up your mind about what? Leaving me here?" Zaque hissed, the tone of his voice coming out a little harsh.
".. This is the village where your home is located." Coco stated bluntly, her eyes narrowed slightly as she took another step back towards the village hall’s door, "You can go back to your house in the main city once I get the divorce paper, but for now, don’t come with me."
"But that’s now what I want—" Zaque stomped his foot on the floor boards and froze when he realized what he just did in front of Coco.
"I mean.. No." He cleared his throat and repeated what he said, his voice much calmer this time, "That’s not what I want. I want to come with you to the main city. You already agreed to take me earlier.. You promised that you will take care of me."
"She said that she doesn’t want to!" The garden fairy exclaimed and pointed a finger at Zaque, "Get lost, you good for nothing husband!"
"Lala." Coco was quick to shoot the garden fairy a look, "That’s not nice."
"But.. But.. But.. But he’s forcing himself on you, Coco.." Lala whimpered out, lowering her head as the corner of her lips curled down into a pout.
"Stop forcing what you want, Zaque." Coco turned to Zaque and let out a sigh, not responding to Lala’s whimpers and instead, shot a glance at the first husband’s way, "I informed the village chief that I’m not bringing anyone with me."
"You can always make changes as long as you haven’t received the permit yet." Zaque insisted, taking another step forward towards Coco.
Of course, upon seeing this, Coco took a step back and looked away from him.
"I already struck a deal with Alithe." Coco said, using the raven hybrid as an excuse to not let the red haired mediator insist on doing what he wanted, "I don’t think I can extend it to you—"
Ding!
Suddenly, a familiar faint chime rang out in the air, the sound like the toll of a small bell and breaking through the verbal sparring.
Coco recognized the sound instantly, the tinkling sound momentarily interrupting the disagreement she was having with the mediator, her attention immediately shifting from Zaque to the quest at hand.
Coco paused, her mind instantly snapping to attention as the quest appeared before her, the scroll rolling down as it opened itself and revealed the detail of the quest to her.
It was a familiar sight, a dirty brown scroll with cursive writing that bears everything she has to know.
[ Zaque’s Quest {2}: The yeast to heal a broken heart
The mediator who loved baking since he was a child had been given the ability and the privilege to start baking once again.
However, a crack is starting to show in the pan and the dough is becoming a failure for the pan so, what kind of yeast can help a broken dough to become a perfect bread for a baker?
Of course, a perfect yeast can be found hiding in a thousand of yeast— blending, thriving, resting, and just plainly waiting.
Bring the mediator to the main city and let him look for the perfect yeast to his bread to heal his broken heart— do this and you’ll receive a handsome reward.
Reward: Coco’s pocket five slots
Penalty: Locking Coco’s pocket feature
Time Duration: 350 hours and 59 minutes ]
Coco stared at the quest’s detail for a good minute, her eyes staring straight into the scroll.
They stood in silence for a moment, the tension in the air thick and suffocating, but Zaque couldn’t say anything because he could see Coco looking at something else.
The disagreement was forgotten as if it wasn’t happening in the first place, the quest took every bit of Coco’s attention.
Zaque’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion, his red irises staring straight into the spot where Coco was burning her gaze, not seeing anything interesting that could take her attention away from him.
However, the woman before him felt livid.
Are they serious? Coco thought, her hands curling into a tight fist by her side.
Someone from the fairy had tried to do this thing before and forced her to bring Zaque out to the mountain— which resulted in her getting injured and Zaque almost dying because of the flying pig.
Is it Lulu who gave this quest to me? Or it’s that unknown fairy again? Coco wondered, snapping her attention away from the scroll to look at Zaque.
"Regarding our.. Conversation about you coming with me to the main city." Coco spoke up, a strained smile on her lips as she slowly took a step towards the door, "I’ll consider it, but no promises."
No promises, but she will consider it? That was enough for Zaque.
"Okay." The mediator smiled softly as his shoulders relaxed, the tension in his body melting away, "I can wait.. Just tell me about your decision whenever you’re ready."
"Wait.. Are you really thinking of bringing him with you?" The garden fairy asked, the shock and scowl evident in her voice.
"Yeah, sure.." Coco muttered, her answer was for Zaque’s statement, and turned in her heels, rushing out of village hall without looking back.
Her tight fists tightened up, her vision filled with red.
Whoever’s trying to set me up with Zaque.. You’ll get a piece of my mind tonight. Coco mused in her mind, swearing to herself as she stomped her way towards the Red Horse Inn.
She doesn’t care if she will offend some fairy tonight, all she wants is to talk to whoever gave her that quest.
And we’ll talk about it, alright. Coco promised in the back of her mind.
