My Wife is a Dead Villainess, and I'm Her Living Weapon-Chapter 28: How
Chapter 28: How
As the black knight raced toward the Red Swarm Tyrant, the stronger members of her brood already sprang into her defense.
Silken fibers wrapped around the charging knight, slowing him down. It was a precaution of her knights that acted like a barrier. The once invisible lines thickened like thick ropes as they bound her attacker.
The Beetle King, her Anchor, launched himself like a meteor and smashed into the sole invader of her colony. Meanwhile the Wolfguard knights all quickly formed a defensive line around her and began shooting balls of sticky silk to immobilize the enemy in front of them.
The Red Swarm Tyrant normally felt a million thoughts and feelings all at once. It was a given since she and the swarm were one. But the emotions that coursed through her were not the ones she expected.
The ground shrieks! Where is the queen! The Queen is in danger! Ah! It hurts! Pain! Where is the queen? Where is the enemy? Pain! My feet broken! The floor ate them!
Any other time, she would feel the worry of her guards and the righteous fury of her brood. Subservient granted the ability to merge consciousness but removed the ability to make rational decisions. Each and every member of the Red Swarm adored her without question.
Even if she ordered them all to self-terminate, they would follow with smiles on their faces. Thus, what happened now greatly shook her. Rather than come to her aid, they all screamed in panic.
What in the world is going on? I must restore order.
The queen had her plates vibrate and released her pheromones from her back. She flexed her wings and rubbed them together to call to her brood. A rhythmic chirp resounded, one only she could make.
"My Swarm! I am here! Defend me!"
Yet the pheromones that should have spread to the entire colony froze in midair like amber. It then fell down like hail and shattered. In disbelief the Red Swarm Tyrant looked up and saw yet another human covered in a white dress.
The ethereal beauty had an arrogant sneer as she whispered to the wind, "For daring to covet what is mine, your death will be slow and painful. Look forward to it, you ten-legged, pale-skinned harlot." And then she vanished without a trace.
"Y-YOU! YOU ARE THE ONE WHO BROUGHT THE DEMON HERE!" The Queen roared.
Just then, something flew by her and crashed into the nearby wall. She instinctively knew who it was. And that was why she couldn't believe what was going on.
"T-The beetle king lost? In a contest of strength?"
Although he was stupid, the Red Swarm Tyrant kept him around for one reason alone. The beetle king was the strongest servant she commanded. His overbearing power could allow him to fight beyond ranks even against other tyrants.
The beetle king's talent Inflexible negates mana! He is the ultimate shield and sword!
When her Anchor again charged towards the black Knight, his opponent leapt to meet him head on. The monster in armor raised his hand and a black sword flew towards it. Upon grabbing the weapon, he swung it down with both hands and cleaved down.
A loud crack pierced the sound barrier.
Then a powerful gush of wind erupted, as if a tornado was suddenly summoned, the gales blew outward and created a wind wall. Meanwhile the beetle king raced to the ground. Like a fly that was swatted down.
Seeing the absolute power of the black knight, the Red Swarm Tyrant bit her lip.
"BEETLE KING! HOW DARE YOU FALTER IN FRONT OF YOUR TYRANT! RISE! DIE IF YOU MUST, BUT PROTECT ME!"
[Invoking Tyrant's Absolute Authority on the Red Swarm Anchor. All stats raised by 500% in exchange for sacrificing 95% of HP for a delayed rebound!]
It will kill him. But if I die, the entire colony would be lost! I can always find another Anchor later. We need to counterattack. Where are my...No...NO!!!! What in the world happened?
In the few seconds she took to recover from the black knight's sudden rush the queen noticed the silence.
It was unnerving.

To her, the leader of a massive swarm with hundreds of thousands, her mind always had chatter. From the Soldiers who want her affection, to the Workers who longed to see her face.
All the Red Swarm Tyrant needed to do was listen and she would find hundreds praising the ground she walked every second. Yet now there were only a few, and they were far. Inside her royal castle, her stronghold. There was no one left breathing.
She looked in horror at her brood.
They all slumped to the ground, their legs continued to twitch. But they no longer had voices echoing in her mind. Each one had a long thin spike that impaled the center of its head jutting out from the ground. It was surgical and eliminated each Ant with the least effort possible.
How? What are those things?! Where did they come from?!
Quickly, she turned to her sides. Relief came as she saw her knights still alive. In the short time since the battle began, this lone knight and the ice mage, summarily executed the bulk of her brood. Her body quivered from anger and rage. It would take years to rebuild.
But she knew such was the cost of becoming a tyrant.
You insolent worm. I gave you love—and you butchered my children. I'll rip your soul from your corpse and burn it for all eternity!
She raised her abdomen and began releasing an orange fog. Her eyes glowed as she raised her hands. It was a queen-class pheromone—engineered to enthrall any sentient being. She'd bound the Beetle King with it, like all the others before him.
But for some reason it doesn't work on the black demon.
"My children your queen is in danger. Come to me! Bring everyone!"
[Alert: 10,000 eggs available. Use Dungeon points to rapid incubate?]
"Yes."
At that moment, every Ant in the entire hive moved. The ground rumbled as they all surged to defend their queen. Even the eggs in the nurseries all began to hatch. Immediately she felt the return of thousands of voices born only to serve her.
She then turned her body and faced the black knight. He was being pushed back by the Beetle King. Although her Anchor looked like he was dominating, the Red Swarm Tyrant knew there wasn't much time remaining.
Thus she stretched out her hand and called to her loyal knights.
"My knights, the time has come. Let us hunt!"
The Wolfguard spiders all began to snarl as they all raced forward. Despite being a Tyrant, the Red Swarm Queen joined his entire brood in their assault.
"Black Demon, you picked the wrong opponent! I am not a maggot who has yet to learn how to fight! I will kill you and eat your core! Then I will grow stronger!" She roared in anger!
As she watched the Beetle king was able to overpower the knight with a blow to the head. Like a comet, the invader slammed into the floor. The entire hall quaked. Seeing the result, the queen smiled in glee!
"That's it! Wonderful Beetle King, as expected of my Anchor!"
In the next moment, her entire body trembled. Her senses began to ring like alarm bells.
"What?"
She forced herself to stop. In that same moment, the ground suddenly came alive. The spikes that nailed her army in place all retracted to the ground. The puddles converged—and moved. The hole the knight crashed in began to overflow like a geyser.
All at once, black fluid raged like a tide and crashed into the Spiders and the Beetle King. Despite them all trying to evade, arms grew from the flowing metal and wrapped around them like chains. Helplessly, each monster was dragged deeper into the waters, unable to break what bound them.
The Queen froze in horror.
Despite her long life, she failed to understand what this black water was.
It was only then that the knight rose from the geyser. Arrogantly he walked on the water without a care in the world.
"Finally, I have been waiting for these spiders to rush forward, I was getting bored."
"Elian, I told you your tactics are deranged and reek of insanity."
He was expecting it? No. My brood! MY BROOD! STOP! DO NOT COME HERE! HE CONTROLS THE SEA!
Her warning came too late, tunnels opened, the newly awakened Workers and Soldiers all entered the hall only to fall into the black sea. Like lambs to the slaughter, never knowing what awaited them. The black sea rippled.
Instinctively, the Queen Tyrant pushed down with all her might and leapt toward the ceiling.
In the next moment she watched her world crumble. As if hell opened its maw, large black spikes impaled each and every one of her brood.
NO!
In an instant all 24 of her knights died. Along with countless others.
Even her Anchor, her final hope couldn't escape.
While the Beetle king resisted the attacks with his thick skin, he was engulfed by the black sea and confined into a sphere.
Then, the sphere slowly shrank inch by inch with him still inside. Savage cracks resounded. Increasing in number and intensity.
"NO! HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS! HE SHOULD BE IMMUNE TO MANA! BEETLE KING!"
And then—
CRACK.
[Your Anchor, the Beetle King, has perished. You may now select a new Anchor.]
"NO..."
