Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Can’t Take It Anymore

Jared Quinn cast a deep glance at her, his crimson lips pressed into a tight line.

"You don’t like it?" Melody Thorne kept her head down, continuing to eat. As the spicy sensation hit her mouth, she kept exhaling, using her other small hand to fan herself. She opened another bottle of drink, took a sip, and said, "I’m really sorry, I didn’t know what you like to eat."

Simon Sutton "..."

Could it be true? Every time Melody brought lunch to the company, it was always something the boss liked.

He knew because the lunches Melody brought for Jared Quinn never made it to the office successfully, and he ended up eating them because they looked really good.

Watching the girl on the sofa eat with such relish, an indescribable complexity flashed in Jared’s deep, dark eyes.

Previously, he had Simon investigate everything about Melody Thorne. The investigation showed that everything Melody liked was basically what he liked, including interests and food. He didn’t eat spicy, and she didn’t either.

But the current reality was the exact opposite.

Jared’s gaze, filled with coldness, fell on Simon Sutton beside him, a clear implication of daring to slack off and falsify reports to him.

When Simon caught Jared’s gaze, he spread his hands in despair, almost in tears. He wouldn’t dare, even with a million courages.

A few seconds later, Jared sat down beside Melody Thorne, picked up chopsticks, and his noble, elegant moves were entirely out of place with the food before him.

Melody looked at him in surprise. Being so close, she could smell the cool and clear scent on him and the mature male aura, which made her a bit uncomfortable, so she shifted to the other side of the sofa.

She thought Jared would tell her to pack up and leave given the food she brought.

She could then go back quicker to be with Timmy, but she didn’t expect him to sit down.

When Jared noticed her small movement, his expression darkened, and he picked up a piece of the spicy beef she’d just eaten, placing it in his mouth, chewing slowly and meticulously.

With her peripheral vision, Melody caught a glimpse of his actions. She grabbed a small packet of additional chili oil, opened it, and poured it all in. "Wasn’t spicy enough just now? Let’s add a bit more."

Watching her actions, Simon Sutton looked to the sky speechlessly, thinking she was courting disaster. Before, she was always trying to get close to their boss, and now that she finally had his attention, she was completely out of sync mentally.

"Eat up," Melody said, picking up a few more pieces and putting them in her mouth, her face turning a bit red from the spice.

Jared looked at the layer of red-hot chilies, his perfectly handsome face darkening, a chill blowing around him as he took another bite.

A few seconds later, he put down the chopsticks and got up to leave.

Spicy, spicy, too spicy. Melody’s eyes watered. The beginning was fine, but she was bearing it at the end. She stood up, grabbed the drink, took a few sips, and was about to go home to Timmy.

"Ma’am," Theodore Sutton blocked her way, handing her a fancy dress box, "Mr. Quinn said he wants to take you to a private dinner later, you should change into this dress."

Melody Thorne "..."

She closed her eyes hard, "I’m not going."

She had to audition and memorize lines tomorrow.

Simon Sutton stuffed the dress into her hands, "Resisting or not resisting won’t change the outcome. Besides, Timmy just came back; you wouldn’t want him to go to Mr. Quinn’s grandfather’s place, would you?"

Holding the dress in her arms, Melody cast a cold glare at Simon and sat back down on the sofa.
