Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Nominal Girlfriend

Simon tactfully walked out and considerately closed the door behind him.

Two hours later, Jared Quinn returned to the office, but what he saw was a scene of a certain woman sleeping soundly, with the evening gown still quietly resting in the gift box.

The girl on the sofa was lying there, her graceful curves enchanting, with two slender, fair legs resting straight on the sofa.

"Melody Thorne," Jared Quinn tapped her back with his large hand, "Wake up."

Melody Thorne woke up slowly after being patted, coming to her senses when she saw the handsome, cold face above her. She had just intended to take a nap but ended up oversleeping.

She immediately sat up, only to realize something was amiss. She looked down and saw that a button on her shirt had somehow come undone. She looked up to see Jared Quinn gazing at her with deep, meaningful eyes.

Melody Thorne quickly fastened the button, afraid he would misunderstand her actions as trying to seduce him. She sat up straight and explained, "I don’t know why, but I just feel sleepy every time I come here. I was just too tired and fell asleep."

Jared Quinn’s gaze deepened as he leaned closer to her, his handsome face exuding a bewitching, cold air. His deep voice carried an underlying meaning, "Seeing me makes you want to sleep?"

Melody Thorne: "...No."

"Aren’t we supposed to attend the banquet? I’ll go change," Melody Thorne grabbed her clothes and dashed into the bathroom, her heart pounding.

Could seeing him really make her sleepy?

Ten minutes later, she emerged from the bathroom. Jared Quinn paused from his smoking to look back.

The petite figure that walked out wore a red waist-cinching knee-length evening dress that perfectly accentuated the girl’s figure, hugging the waistline. The top had intricate lace patterns, with a hint of fair skin showing through,

and she wore a pair of black thin heels, making her legs look their absolute best—white and slender.

"Let’s go," Melody Thorne carelessly tossed her hair with impatience, not even bothering to put on makeup.

Jared Quinn glanced at her, a glimmer passing through his eyes, then turned to walk outside.

Twenty minutes later.

Inside a high-end hotel.

"Wow, it’s Jared Quinn; Jared’s here," everyone inside called out excitedly at the sight of Jared Quinn.

Melody Thorne followed behind Jared Quinn, taking out her earphones, intending to put them in, when she heard Jared Quinn’s voice from the front, "Don’t forget your task for today."

Melody Thorne: "...Rest assured, I’ll take down any pair that comes, a pair against a group, a group against them all." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Jared Quinn: "..."

"Since I’m helping you, don’t forget you promised me you won’t send Timmy back to the old man anymore."

"Mm."

"Jared," a woman in an elegant white dress approached and spoke softly, walking gracefully towards them. She stopped in front of Jared Quinn, extending a hand, "Long time no see."

Melody Thorne, finding the voice somewhat familiar, looked up. She recognized her. In the past life, to counter the rumors that he didn’t like women and preferred men, Jared Quinn had a titular girlfriend.

Her name was Sheryl Lancaster, a famous mainland actress with a decent family background. In the past life, Jared Quinn indeed married Melody Thorne but never brought her out, choosing instead to have a titular girlfriend outside.
