My Perfect Female CEO-Chapter 1040: Apprehending the Criminal
There are only a few tourist attractions in this area, and although the staff members are not densely gathered, they are generally divided into several groups, each small group clustered together.
Yang Shu and her team spread out, closely monitoring the activities at the tourist spots and the movements of the staff.
Yang Shu watched a group of staff descend the mountain along the path, contacted the others, and asked, "Have you found any suspicious individuals?"
"Everything is normal," came the report from her subordinates through the earpiece.
"A monk behaving suspiciously has been found, not following the other staff down the mountain, but heading towards a temple," reported one voice, immediately alerting Yang Shu.
"Don’t startle the target, monitor in secret, I’m coming to support," Yang Shu said after asking for the exact location, then moved out immediately.
She instantly felt something was off about this monk because while the other staff members respectfully descended the mountain, only this monk appeared suspicious.
Dubbed the "Flowery Monk" by a lot of the staff, upon entering the temple, he hurriedly gripped a hidden, self-made crossbow, with a quiver on his back containing a dozen or so self-made arrows.
Living on Longxing Mountain for eleven years, the monk was obedient and compliant when he first arrived, not daring any unusual movements. As he became the manager of the temple, he lived a cautious life full of fear.
Why would this be?
Because the monk was originally a fugitive, hiding on the mountain to evade a warrant. He reinvented himself as a monk, and having no relatives made it easier to infiltrate the staff.
The monk was extremely careful, fully aware of what exposure of his identity would mean.
Therefore, during the first two-plus years, he dared not commit any violations or crimes on Longxing Mountain, for fear of attracting police attention and exposing his identity. If that happened, his painstaking lurking for over two years would be in vain.
Having committed a crime in another province, he became a fugitive and hid near the secluded area of Longxing Mountain, where enforcement was difficult. People living nearby could never guess that a notorious fugitive was among them.
Initially, even after becoming a monk and guessing that no one could possibly discover his true identity, he still hid for over two years, quietly fulfilling his duties as a temple manager.
It wasn’t until over two years later that he made a move on the first familiar female staff member.
She became his first victim, held captive for his amusement until his interest waned and he set his sights on a second victim.
Thus, the "Flowery Monk" led a twisted life in the temple’s basement, conducting himself like any other staff member during the day, hosting tourists as his sole task, while indulging his desires at night.
His position afforded him the opportunity to target other female staff or tourists, creating favorable conditions for his actions.
Now the "Flowery Monk" was alarmed and afraid, unsure if he had left any clues on Wang Siqi, yet he knew he had to flee. As a fugitive, he dreaded any contact with police for fear of his secrets being uncovered.
Lack of confidence, a guilty conscience, and imperfect handling of Wang Siqi combined led the "Flowery Monk" to decide to run.
Only by escaping deep into the mountains could he hope to survive.
Otherwise, it would be a life worse than death, plunged into darkness.
After brief contemplation, he made up his mind, reluctantly taking one last look at the temple that had been his home for eleven years, before leaving with his only self-made weapon.
"Sir, the monk intends to flee, armed with a bow and arrows," reported the warrior monitoring the monk to Yang Shu.
"Chase him. I’m at the six o’clock position, pursue in my direction, do not lose sight of the target," Yang Shu commanded.
"Yes!" replied the warrior, who then stepped forward, keeping a distance of thirty meters from the monk, shouting, "Stop, come back with me for judgment."
The warrior, not on the path of the monk’s escape, quickly stood up and shouted, trying to startle the monk.
Simultaneously, like an arrow, he pursued the monk.
"Oh no!" the monk’s heart skipped a beat, things were unexpected and unfavorable, he realized.
Without much thought, he decided, "I must escape quickly, or I’ll be surrounded."
With that thought, his expression turned icy, murderous intent surged, and he swiftly drew his bow and shot an arrow.
"Whoosh!" An arrow tore through space, aimed at the charging warrior.
The warrior’s eyes widened, his body swiftly twisting to fall into a side bush, narrowly missing the arrow. A fraction of a second slower, and his flesh would have been pierced.
The arrow embedded itself in a tree trunk, resonating with a quivering sound.
The warrior fell clumsily into the bushes, his back cold with fear as cold sweat broke out.
As he quickly stood up, the monk had vanished from view.
After firing the arrow, the monk didn’t care if it hit, choosing to flee immediately.
The warrior chased swiftly, reporting to Yang Shu, "Sir, the monk is highly skilled in archery; I barely escaped with my life. Everyone, be cautious."
Moments later, the monk fled through the mountain woods, pursued from several directions by Yang Shu and three other warriors.
To prevent the monk from escaping, Yang Shu called in everyone nearby.
Given the monk’s familiarity with the terrain, Yang Shu dared not underestimate him. Witnessing his formidable archery skills only reinforced this.
The pursuit was on.
"Damn it, I’ll shoot you, shoot every one of you relentless executioners," the monk shouted while fleeing, skillfully drawing and firing arrows.
"Watch out for arrows, scatter, and flank from both sides," Yang Shu instructed the three warriors to flank from the sides. She exposed herself in the monk’s line of sight, dodging arrows while aggressively pursuing.
Finally, the monk ran out of arrows, discarding his bow as it became cumbersome.
When it came to sprinting speed, the monk couldn’t rival Yang Shu and her team.
Soon enough, in the midst of resistance, Yang Shu kicked the monk, sending him flying.
The monk tumbled furiously, whereupon two warriors advanced and decisively subdued him.
