The Husband I Loved for Eight Years Never Loved Me-Chapter 184: She Is Unwilling to Have a Second Child With Him
Chapter 184: She’s Not Willing to Have a Second Child With Him
Whether Tristan Sterling was married, and whether he had a child in or out of wedlock—only the Sterling and Fitzwilliam families knew for sure.
They didn’t release any information, and outsiders didn’t dare to probe too deeply.
Tristan Sterling glanced sideways at him, a faint smile playing on his thin lips. "Envious?"
Jason Sinclair laughed. "Of course I’m envious! But I just don’t get how a guy like you could produce such an adorable little angel like Melissa."
He truly couldn’t wrap his head around it.
Tristan Sterling was a man who seemed incapable of genuine affection for anyone. He was utterly ruthless and cold-blooded!
Franklin Fitzwilliam’s gaze drifted to Rachel Royce, who was leading Melissa away by the hand. "Is it even a question? Melissa must take after her mother—gentle and kind. If she were anything like him, it would be a disaster."
Jason Sinclair asked curiously, "Franklin, why don’t you tell us then? Who exactly is Melissa’s mother?"
It was certain that Tristan Sterling didn’t love Melissa’s mother. Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been zero talk about her identity all these years. She had never even appeared at any public events for the Sterling or Fitzwilliam families.
But even though he didn’t love the mother, he doted on Melissa to an extreme degree.
If he had ever given his heart to anyone, it was only to his daughter.
Franklin Fitzwilliam looked at Tristan Sterling and said, "If you want to know, ask him."
Jason Sinclair chuckled and didn’t press the matter. "Be honest, Tristan. Did you only want a daughter back then because you were envious of Franklin’s?"
Tristan Sterling’s gaze fell upon Melissa in the distance. She was a pristine and beautiful little princess. Rachel Royce had just picked a flower and tucked it into her hair, and her smile was brighter than the sun.
Tristan Sterling’s expression softened. Looking at Jason Sinclair, he said, "If you’re so envious, then hurry up and have one."
"Look at you, a single dad, getting all smug. Franklin has a wife and a kid, and he’s about to have a second one, but he’s not as cocky as you. You’d better hurry up and have a second child, or you’ll never catch up to Franklin’s pace."
Franklin Fitzwilliam teased, "The lady in question isn’t willing to have a second child with him."
Jason Sinclair immediately sensed something was up. "What do you mean?"

Throughout the afternoon, Rachel Royce and William Jensen watched the children. William introduced Rachel to several young wives, all of whom had been married for just a few years and had children of similar ages.
Tristan Sterling’s child was so clingy with Rachel Royce, and when Rachel looked at her, the tenderness in her eyes was impossible to hide. Looking closely, one could even see a slight resemblance between Melissa Sterling and Rachel.
It naturally made people wonder and speculate.
But William Jensen only said she was a friend of hers, without offering any more details, so the others didn’t press for more information.
During their idle chatter, the other women were quite taken with Rachel Royce’s eloquence and grace. They exchanged contact information, planning to invite her to future gatherings.
Rachel Royce didn’t refuse their kind offers.
Upstairs, Jason Sinclair, Tristan Sterling, and the others were playing cards.
Tristan Sterling received a call and stepped out onto the balcony to take it. His eyes were drawn to the women in the courtyard below, who were watching the children and chatting cheerfully.
He didn’t know what Rachel Royce was discussing with the others, but her laugh was bright and vivacious.
Today, she wore a simple blue maxi dress with a long knit cardigan. Her long hair was pinned up, her makeup was understated, and she wore only simple pearl jewelry.
Among the crowd of wealthy wives dressed in haute couture and adorned with jewels, she wasn’t the most opulent, but she was the most striking in both looks and demeanor.
She was someone you would notice at a single glance.
After Tristan Sterling finished his call and turned to go back inside, Franklin Fitzwilliam came up beside him. Looking down at the scene below, he remarked, "Evelynn is certainly popular today. Someone just came to me asking about her again."
As he spoke, he glanced sideways at the man beside him, raising an eyebrow.
A smirk touched Tristan Sterling’s thin lips, his long, deep-set eyes revealing a profound darkness. "Is that so?"
Franklin Fitzwilliam looked at him, sighed, and patted his shoulder. "Well, you’re on your own."
With that, he turned and walked back inside.
Tristan Sterling gazed down into the courtyard.
As if sensing something, Rachel Royce looked up and noticed the tall, stately figure standing on the third-floor balcony.
From such a great distance, she couldn’t quite make out the man’s expression.
After just one glance, she coolly averted her gaze.
In the blink of an eye, it was time for the evening banquet.
Dusk gradually fell.
The splendor of the night was even more vibrant than the day.
The children’s laughter was endless as they held hands and danced on the lawn.
Rachel Royce was sitting with one of the wives she had met today. It was none other than Jason Sinclair’s elder sister.
Jason Sinclair came over, sat down next to Rachel Royce, and clinked his glass with hers for a drink.
Sitting some distance away, Tristan Sterling sipped his drink, his eyes fixed on Melissa.
Simon Shaw looked in Rachel Royce’s direction and couldn’t help but ask, "Is Jason serious about Evelynn?"
His tone was tinged with jealousy.
He had originally thought Evelynn and Julian Jennings were already together, but today she had said she didn’t have a boyfriend.
That had made his heart stir with hope again.
But Evelynn hadn’t spared him a single glance the entire time.
He hadn’t expected Melissa to like Evelynn so much, and he was always puzzled as to why Tristan would allow Melissa to be so close to her.
He always felt there was something going on between Evelynn and Tristan.
Tristan Sterling’s dark eyes swept fleetingly over Rachel Royce. The woman was speaking to Jason Sinclair with a polite smile on her lips.
He coolly withdrew his gaze and said, "If you’re curious, you can go ask yourself."
Just then, Franklin Fitzwilliam led William Jensen by the hand to the center of the floor and began to dance.
Nina Fitzwilliam watched them and clapped her hands happily.
As the music pulsed, more people began to enter the dance floor.
Melissa immediately looked for her daddy and Aunt Evelynn, only to realize that Aunt Evelynn wasn’t sitting with her daddy.
She quickly ran toward her daddy.
Seeing Melissa approach, Tristan Sterling put down his wine glass and held out his hands to her.
"Daddy, go dance with Aunt Evelynn."
Melissa pulled her daddy to his feet.
Tristan Sterling stood up. "Slow down."
Melissa took her daddy’s hand and led him toward Rachel Royce, only to find that the spot where Rachel had been sitting was now empty.
Melissa let go of her daddy’s hand, ran over, and asked, "Uncle Sinclair, where’s Aunt Evelynn?"
Jason Sinclair looked at Melissa and couldn’t resist pinching her little nose. "Aunt Evelynn went to make a phone call."
Melissa looked back at her daddy and said, "Daddy, let’s hurry and find Aunt Evelynn."
Melissa was getting very anxious.
Tristan Sterling picked Melissa up and soothed her, "Alright, we’ll go find Aunt Evelynn right now."
Rachel Royce was on the phone not far away, in a relatively quiet spot.
The call was from Thomas Sterling.
He was supposed to have come to celebrate Nina’s birthday today, but something came up last minute and he couldn’t get away. He had just finished work and was asking when the banquet would end and if he should come pick her up.
Rachel Royce replied, "No need, Morgan will take me home. Are you coming over? The banquet probably won’t be over for a while."
It had only just begun.
Thomas Sterling thought for a moment and decided to head over.
After she hung up and was walking back, she heard a voice.
"Aunt Evelynn."
Melissa came running over.
Rachel Royce looked up and saw the man following behind Melissa. She then strode toward the little girl.
"Aunt Evelynn, will you go dance with Daddy, please?"
