Chapter 87: Lia’s Plan To Invite Julian To Join The Mission Part 2

At 06:29.

Lia, dressed neatly in a black suit, was also carrying two backpacks in each hand with ease. By then, Lia had finished coordinating the Squirrel Squad.

"Okay, does everyone understand the plan?" Lia asked.

"UNDERSTOOD, MA’AM!" replied the entire Squirrel Squad.

"Good, then get in your cars—we’re leaving!" Lia said.

"YES, MA’AM!" the entire Squirrel Squad replied.

Lia began walking toward the car where Anindya was already inside.

"Let’s go, Bonang," Lia said as she walked.

"Okay!" Bonang replied enthusiastically.

Lia got into the car and sat in the back with Anindya.

"Why is she sitting next to her?" Bonang asked himself, puzzled.

Bonang started the engine. Anindya, who was playing a puzzle game on her phone, said,

"Lia, top up my mobile data... I forgot to top up my phone credit" Anindya said.

"Don’t you have any balance in Mobile Banking?" Lia asked.

"How can I buy credit if I don’t have an internet connection?" Anindya replied.

"I’m sorry, Lady Anindya. I can’t buy you phone credit during the mission... I’m worried you’ll be busy chatting with Julian and not focus on the mission" Lia said. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"Umph!... Then I’ll get out first" Anindya said with a sullen expression and annoyance.

Anindya opened the door slowly, but unfortunately, Lia suddenly shouted,

"STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BONANG!" Lia shouted.

"OKAY!" Bonang said, stepping on the accelerator pedal.

The car immediately accelerated. Anindya was startled and thrown backward. Luckily, Lia managed to hold her. The automatic gate to Anindya’s house closed automatically as they passed through.

Inside the car, Anindya’s expression immediately turned furious. She turned to Lia and threw her right fist. But, as usual, Lia block it.

"Lia...! How dare you do that to MEE!!!" Anindya said in a hoarse voice and an angry expression.

"I’m Apologize, Lady... But be patient, Lady Anindya. After completing this mission, I promise to buy you phone credit for Rp. 3,000,000—then you can do whatever you want" Lia said.

Anindya immediately weakened her power, and her eyes widened.

"Eh, really?" Anindya asked with a doubtful expression.

Lia, sensing Anindya’s strength weakening, released her hand and said,

"Yes, I promise" Lia replied with a sweet smile.

Anindya returned to her seat position.

"Alright... Since it’s still early morning and the phone credit vendors aren’t open yet, I’ll go along with what you said... but—" Anindya said, staring straight ahead.

Anindya shot Lia a bombastic side-eye.

"If you break your promise, I’ll chase you no matter where you run, Lia!" Anindya continued.

"Yeah, Don’t worry about that, Lady Anindya" Lia said with a sweet smile.

On the way, Anindya talked with Lia.

"Lia, why isn’t Sagara coming with us?" Anindya asked, looking out the car window.

"Ahh, him... He was absent last week. If he’s absent again, the students will be suspicious and feel it’s unfair, because Sagara can be absent for days without receiving a warning letter from the school" Lia replied.

"Oh, I see. So, what excuse did you give my homeroom teacher for my absence?" Anindya asked.

"Yes, you’re sick, and to make things more convincing, I asked Sagara to give you your sick note," Lia replied.

"I’ve already given the sick note to Tia, so she’ll give it to Sagara when he leaves for school" Lia continued.

Anindya—who had been glancing at Lia to watch her explain—returned to looking out the car window.

"I see, okay... But I still feel uneasy if I don’t see Julian... My CCTV app also uses the internet to access sound and video" Anindya said sadly and weakly.

Seeing Anindya’s sadness, Lia felt sorry for her and tried to cheer her up.

"Don’t worry, Lady Anindya. This mission won’t take long, I promise you’ll be at school before 12 noon!" Lia said with an encouraging expression and tone.

"But I didn’t bring my school uniform" Anindya said nonchalantly.

Lia smiled and reached for one of the backpacks under her seat. She opened the back of the backpack and took out the neatly folded school uniform inside. She then called out to Anindya.

"Lady Anindya, look at what I brought!" Lia said.

Anindya glanced at Lia with a listless expression, but her eyes widened immediately, and she immediately turned to face Lia.

"I-is that my school uniform?!" Anindya said with a surprised expression and tone.

"Yes, I knew you’d be sad, so I secretly prepared this" Lia said proudly.

Anindya immediately became happy and hugged Lia.

"THANK YOU, LIA!"

Lia returned Anindya’s hug with a warm one of her own.

"My pleasure, Lady Anindya" Lia said softly.

"If she didn’t have a boyfriend... Maybe she’d keep being so clingy to me, hahaha" Lia thought to herself with a sweet smile.

Anindya released her hug after two minutes.

"Lia, what reason did the gangster boss have to attack their territory?" Anindya asked.

"Hmm... You could say the gangsters are hired help. Since they couldn’t take you two, their agreement would be void, " Lia replied.

"And you know what happens in the underworld when agreements fail?" Lia asked.

"Yes, they were either tortured, had their organs taken, or were killed outright" Anindya answered

"But I didn’t expect a boss to target the territory—not the person who made the deal with them" Anindya continued.

"Maybe their boss wants to expand his territory. Besides, this way we can find the Lateral root and free the people involved in human trafficking" Lia said.

"Then, how did you know they would attack so early in the morning?" Anindya asked.

"It’s simple, Lady... Because I’m sure their boss would hire a Bounty Hunter" Lia replied.

"Hmm, that makes sense... Because Bounty Hunters always attack during quiet times" Anindya said.

"Yes, you’re right, it’s very rare to see them attack in crowded areas or in public," Lia said.

"Those who attack in public are usually people who want to climb the ranks or those who are at the top of the rankings" Lia continued.

Anindya returned to her position and looked the window.

"Well, the point is, I have to finish this quickly so I can meet Julian at school" Anindya said.

Lia started stuffing Anindya’s uniform into her backpack, then reached for the case containing her contact lenses from the front of her backpack.

"Yeah, we’ll finish this quickly," Lia said.

They only had 1.2 km left. Unfortunately, the highway was jammed. Lia finished putting in her contact lenses. Then she took out some papers and handed them to Anindya.

"Please, lady, to pass the time—please read about the territory" Lia said.

Anindya accepted them and began reading.

Dragon Komodo XI. St, Central Jakarta.

This area was once known as a paradise for sweet drinks, but in 2060, many people moved away because the location was becoming less popular. This was because the bridge connecting the highway to the area was destroyed due to its age. Fortunately, there were no casualties. The bridge was built because in 2028, the Indonesian president built a canal to prevent flooding in the area. Since the bridge was destroyed, residents have had to find alternative routes to the highway.

In 2064, the bridge remained unrepaired, owing to the district government’s promise to repair it. Because the government couldn’t respond quickly, the bridge was rebuilt by residents with funds from wealthy locals.

However, the newly built bridge didn’t last long, as a mobster claimed the area belonged to him. The mob boss, dressed like a typical mobster and wearing a black hat, accompanied him by five black ELF Long Chassis vans, each carrying 12 men.

"LISTEN! YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD HEAD HAS LOST GAMBLING IN MY TERRITORY, AND THIS AREA IS THE BET!" The mob boss shouted, showing the papers confirming the change of district head.

"Th-Those are the papers for the change of head!" said one of the residents in shock.

"You’re crazy, Lakito!... I told you to stop gambling!" said another with a worried expression.

Hearing this, the residents were upset and headed to the home of the Head of the Neighborhood Association. Unfortunately, the family had already fled the area. The residents became even more furious, so they decided to fight the mobsters. The residents didn’t report the incident to the police, so they fought the mobsters, wielding weapons.

Bloodshed ensued in the area, but the mob boss ordered his men to shoot only the legs to get the residents to comply. The fight didn’t last long—only an hour. One of the residents called the police, and they arrived after the fight was over.

It only took two months for the police to identify the mafia. The mafia and the residents decided to face each other in court. Unfortunately, the residents lost because Lakito, the neighborhood head, had signed the stamp on the letter replacing the neighborhood head. So, the mafia only had to pay for the injuries they caused to the residents.

In the end, they had no choice but to comply with the mafia. In 2070, a four-story hotel was built in front of the bridge, narrowing the access road to the main road, allowing only motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians to pass. This made the area even more deserted.

But about two months, 2070, young people formed a gang to rebel, calling it the Bulldog Gang. They didn’t hide—they established their headquarters in abandoned buildings. The mafia boss became angry that the residents preferred to follow the gangsters’ orders, and from there, the mafia and gangsters began a war. The gangsters employed Guerrilla Nomadism tactics.

Shortly after about 10 days, the police discovered the mafia’s fraudulent activities. Because the evidence wasn’t strong enough, the police only assigned a few of their members to protect the area, preventing the mafia from taking action. Upon hearing news, the Bulldog Gang returned to their area and discovered that their residents were short of money. So the members decided to seek money through various means, and that’s how one of them discovered the Mercenary website.

Anindya finished reading, then handed the papers to Lia and stared at her.

"Haa... Since the past, this country has had a lot of conflicts" Anindya said boredly.

"Don’t think too much about it. Tasks like that should be left to the Indonesia National Police and the President of Indonesia" Lia replied.

"Because our job is simply to find the mastermind behind human trafficking, which has truly harmed everyone around the world" Lia continued.

"Yeah, I know, but have you reported this to the police?" Anindya asked.

"Yes, the police now seem different... They’re more agile and always on patrol, probably because the Chief of the Indonesian National Police has been replaced" Lia replied.

"I hope the current chief can stay in office for a long time, because in 2060, Sir Tatol’s contract suddenly expired and he was replaced by a new one. And in that year, the national police only issued tickets to drivers and were slow to respond to citizen reports—if they didn’t have the money" Anindya said.

"Never mind, there’s no need to complain. Besides, the current chief already knows the mafia leader’s hideout" Lia said.

"Good, that way I hope the mafia will be caught... Besides, aren’t casinos prohibited in Indonesia?" Anindya asked.

"That’s right, but you know... If there’s money, everything can be resolved smoothly" Lia replied.

"That’s not what I meant, I meant—wasn’t the casino built conspicuously?" Anindya asked.

Lia smiled at that, lifted her right leg and placed it on her left thigh, then she answered.

"In this world, fools can deceive the smart simply by changing the cover of a book" Lia said.

"Hmph, I see... Alright, I understand" Anindya said with a little smile.

Anindya turned on her phone and played another puzzle game while waiting for traffic to clear up.
