Another World Mall-Chapter 987: My Code
"NO!" The supervisor gritted his teeth. He couldn’t afford to let Clovis in.
There was no other choice. He also leaped into the tower. As the supervisor of this place, he obviously had a brain affinity. He was someone who would drag people out in case they dared to sneak inside.
So, he chased after Clovis, forcing the latter to turn around and strike him with his blade.
The supervisor punched the blade, their clash caused the tower to shake.
The killing intent continued to erupt, but it would just be a matter of time before the reinforcements would arrive.
"Clovis!" Christina called his name aloud.
"Don’t worry. Continue onward. I can handle this." Clovis had activated his Abyss State. Although he hadn’t honed his brain affinity like Kanaria or Melody, Clovis still had a brain affinity thanks to his unique ability.
Being able to capture everything within a few meters was an easy task for him.
That was why he could clearly sense the supervisor’s movement. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"Don’t you think it’s already too late to chase me?" Clovis smirked. "If you continue this way, we can turn around and kill you."
"Try it. I’m in charge of this tower’s protection. Do you think I would dare let a wanted man like you enter?"
"A wanted man, heh?" Clovis scoffed. He didn’t bother to correct him. Because of the Prophet, he would definitely have a bounty on his head.
That was why he wouldn’t care about this small provocation.
Clovis pulled him deeper and deeper. Every time the supervisor tried to catch up to them, Clovis would be there to stop him.
The biggest problem would be the reinforcements. There would definitely be an elite group coming soon.
According to their information, there were two Tier 8 humans guarding this tower and dozens of elites. If they had entered this tower, the situation would have been dangerous.
But Vina had prepared something for them.
Clovis asked, "Do you think you can catch me here? You must be expecting to have your comrades come here, but you know what? They won’t come here."
"Stop talking nonsense. We will be able to capture you soon. Once we do, we will make sure you are locked up in the most secure location. No one will be able to bring you out."
Clovis chuckled. "Yeah. I have my arrogance, but you have it as well. Don’t you already know why your comrades won’t come? How do you think I even reached this place?"
"!!!" The supervisor halted his step for a moment. Those words made him come to a realization.
That was right. How did Clovis enter this country? From the report, they had tightened security on the border, preventing anyone from the Three Swords or the RAID from entering the country.
He wasn’t supposed to be here. Yet, Clovis had already entered the city and even entered the tower.
How did he enter? More importantly, what kind of preparation had he made before infiltrating this tower?
The fact that he could enter this tower through a secret route they didn’t know about meant Clovis wasn’t reckless. He had prepared everything before even coming for them.
In that case, Clovis must have prepared something else for them. That something would create a disturbance or even damage that stopped his comrades from entering.
This must be a trap, he thought.
The supervisor panicked, turned around, and leaped back to the entrance as quickly as possible. ’I have to warn them. I won’t let them die.’
The supervisor abandoned the pursuit to warn his people.
But when he exited the tower, he found that his people were already preparing their gear to enter the tower.
"Huh?"
"Sir Delrick?" The people were confused.
"Delrick?" Another Tier 8 human furrowed his brows. "Are they really inside?"
"Fuck." Supervisor Delrick cursed out loud. He had been tricked. There was no other preparation.
Even during the first commotion that fooled him, Clovis didn’t bring out anything dangerous. There was no harm to the citizens.
Clovis played with his mind, making him believe the situation was dangerous for the people outside.
In other words, he had fallen into another trap.
"We have to go back." Supervisor Delrick gritted his teeth. "I need the elite team to go down the tower. Tell HQ to send reinforcements. Also, we need to tighten up the security of other towers and set up a perimeter. If they somehow manage to go down the tower safely, we have to catch them in the underworld."
"Yes, sir!"
They were rushing with their preparations, knowing they had to catch up. It would still take some time before Clovis could go down.
During their descent, they had to kill all the beasts because all these beasts could see them. This meant chasing after the Libation Fiesta would have no resistance, allowing them to catch up easily.
So, they had plenty of time, or so they thought.
"Sir!" One Tier 7 human gulped down. His hand was touching the darkness while looking at the supervisor.
Supervisor Delrick turned around and witnessed something he had never seen before.
The man was touching the darkness, specifically a translucent green wall that seemed to be preventing him from going inside.
"There is a wall? Is this new technology?" The man asked.
Supervisor Delrick knew everything about the facility around the tower. There was no such technology. It was unlikely Clovis possessed this kind of technology as well.
He knew the tower was special, but this was the first time he saw something even more special than the darkness itself. It might even be the reason Clovis infiltrated this tower in the first place.
"Tell HQ. Code Red."
...
Meanwhile, Clovis and the others were rather stunned.
Melody asked, "Are you guys seeing this?"
"No. What are you talking about?" Christina was confused.
"Christina. Take over. Halt our advance," Clovis ordered while looking around, seeing the same thing.
The tower lit up before his eyes, emitting a faint green light on the ceiling, the floor, and the walls. It was as if the entire tower were made of a black computer screen. Then, numerous characters appeared on the screen.
Clovis gasped. The fact that Christina couldn’t see anything meant Clovis and Melody were the only ones who could see the lights.
But what was even more shocking were the words Melody said next.
While touching the wall, Melody felt a sense of familiarity in those characters. "Wait... this is... my code?"
"!!!"
