Chapter 311: Arrival Of The Guests

(Karsten)

The midnight blue tuxedo sat snugly against my body. Rahsir tucked a blue and white boutonnière into the front pocket of my tux and flattened the peak lapels.

"You are all set."

I glanced in the mirror and found a very different version of myself. How far I had come and today I was getting married to the love of my life.

At the beginning of last year, if someone had told me I would be getting married in the upcoming year, I would have laughed in that person’s face.

But here I stood, in my tux and black Oxfords, all ready to head out towards the venue. The watch Arata had gifted me, proudly sat on my wrist.

"You have the ring?" I asked Rahsir and he patted the pocket of his pants, ensuring me he did.

"Let’s head out." I gave a small tug to my coat and turned away from the floor-length mirror.

Rahsir took the lead and held the door open for me. We reached the royal blue Lamborghini I had purchased just for the occasion. Since the last one got wrecked, I needed a new one anyhow.

Caysir was there to drive us to the venue. Settling inside we headed out.

As usual, Rahsir and I were the first to arrive at the place, apart from my men who had surrounded the place.

No one without a scanning invitation was to be allowed inside.

Caysir held the door open for me as I stepped out of the car into the cool and fragrant air of March.

What I loved most about Sparia was how clean it was. Dust and pollution-free.

"Rahsir, ensure everything has been arranged. I don’t want anything lacking once guests start arriving and our families get here."

Rahsir gave me a nod before moving away. I took a round myself and checked out the sitting arrangements.

The manager followed me around with a pleasant smile. "Good day, Sir."

"Good day!"

I pointed out the few seats which appeared unbalanced and one had a thread hanging down.

Immediately they made the required adjustments. The flower arcs were exactly as Arata had requested, created from blue and white roses.

Serene and beautiful, this place was all I had envisioned to get married to my Phoenix.

The weather was just perfect, partially cloudy with a hint of cool wind.

Guests began to arrive. My family was the first one. Ma had on a pastel pink and gold floor-length dress and a pink rose in her hair.

"I am so proud of you." She hugged me in pride and I kissed the top of her head.

"Thanks, Ma. You spoke to Arata?"

"I did, she is getting ready. Don’t worry." She patted my shoulder and walked away.

Grandma, my aunts, uncles and other relatives were here.

Miranda and Chan, along with other company members, had also reached. I greeted each guest, personally.

Elders were here to witness this ceremony and ensure I kept my word to them.

Arata’s friends and family arrived as well. Her parents were a picture of elegance in their light blue dresses.

I stood in front and greeted them with a slight nod of my head. My hands were clasped in front.

"Welcome!"

Skyla had a bright smile on her face and glowed like her daughter. She offered me a warm hug.

"Congratulations, Karsten. What a beautiful day."

"It is. It will become more beautiful when I complete the ceremony with your daughter."

She smiled and held my hand for a while.

Then I turned my attention to Zyair Kincaid.

The man held a contained smile but I felt no hostility. We shook hands.

"Good luck! And be ready for tantrums and saying goodbye to having your way," he teased.

I smiled in return. "Thanks for the heads up. I will try my best to handle them."

He squeezed my shoulder and walked away.

The wait staff began to serve champagne, and the band began with soft music. Photographers and videographers were taking random shots.

The chitter chatter of guests and their laughter mingled in the air. But my heart was stuck on seeing my beautiful girl and checking out how the dress fitted her beautiful body.

Once everyone had arrived, it was time to begin the ceremony. One of the Elders was going to officiate it.

I checked with Roshra and she told me that Arata was ready and had everything she needed.

"Come, it’s time," Rahsir whispered in my ear. Slowly I took my place on the aisle.

The guests settled down in their seats and all eyes focused on me.

A rush of excitement I could sense in my body, my eyes trailed towards the passage covered with blue rose petals from where Arata was going to walk over to me.

The music shifted and I held my breath.

Flower girls came first, throwing petals from their colourful baskets. They were my aunt’s granddaughters.

Guests clapped and cheered them on. Once they had taken their places, the bridesmaids followed them, carrying pink flowered bouquets.

Cherry came first, followed by Roshra and in the end Stella. They waved at the guests who welcomed them with claps while their men did it with whistles.

The girls took their positions on the stage opposite me. Roshra found my gaze and winked.

"Don’t worry and look so agitated. Relax, she is going to be here," she whispered to me and I tried to do what she had said.

But–no. It didn’t work. My heart had entered a 100-meter sprint and refused to calm down.

The music took another shift and all eyes turned back to stare at the spot from where Arata was to enter with her father.

Nervousness made my palms excessively sweaty and I found it impossible to stand still.

And then she appeared with a veil on her face and the red dress I had created for her, holding her father’s arm.

My heart thudded behind my ribcage at the contrast of red and blue. Red of her costume and blue petals under her feet.

Breathtakingly beautiful—she was a sight I would never forget.

My Phoenix holding blue roses was here, and she was going to be mine forever.

The crowd gasped, and most of them were left stunned by her appearance.

They must have been expecting white but my girl was no ordinary girl.

The veil concealed her expressions, but I knew she was smiling underneath, and her gaze was only on me.

They arrived at the front of the aisle and I bent down and extended my hand for her to take.

To become mine—today and every day after that.
