Chapter 310: Final Preparations

(Arata)

The Rehearsal Dinner went smoothly, and the day of the 15th March arrived like any other, but for me it was the most important day of my life.

Binding myself to the love of my life held a special place in my heart. Although we were already connected on every level possible, getting married to Karsten was going to take me on the forever journey of contentment and commitment.

He was my forever, I knew it in my soul.

Whatever part of my heart and soul remained broken, he was going to complete it today.

Karsten had been separated from me after the Rehearsal Dinner and I hadn’t seen him since.

Girls told me, I will see him on the altar now.

My parents were here and last night Mom stayed by my side.

"Arata! My beautiful girl. Are you awake?" Mom softly asked. Her fingers weaved into my short hair.

Slowly I opened my eyes and took in my mom’s serene face. "Yes!" A small yawn left me and I placed my hand in front of my mouth.

"Good, we have so much to do. Freshen up and have breakfast." She affectionately smiled at me.

The soft light of the morning sun formed this halo around her as if she were an angel. There was no doubt in my heart that she was.

The amount of self-perseverance she possessed and had demonstrated throughout her life, I could only dream about that.

"Mom!" I reached out and held her hand. "Can I ask you something?"

She sat down beside me, with her back touching my curled-up legs. Her hand pressed mine in both of hers.

"Of course! Anything."

"Did you love Baba because he became your saviour, or were there other reasons as well? How were you so sure that he was the one?" I curiously asked.

Her smile widened, and a sparkle descended in her eyes with a look as if she had been transported into the past.

"Truth be told, there was something very calming about your father. Even when he wore that mask and I had no idea who the man underneath was, I still found myself pulled to him." She pressed my hands. "It’s a feeling, Arata, deep inside your heart, which germinates like a seedling and transforms into an evergreen tree. You just know when you are with the right one."

I lifted my head and placed it in my mother’s lap. Her words brought me closure, and I saw my relationship in a new light.

This wasn’t infatuation, this wasn’t physical either. There were so many aspects of Karsten I loved, and that sapling Mom had mentioned, I knew it was already in my heart.

"He loves you, Arata. I have seen it in his eyes. And he will do right by you." Mom bent down and placed a kiss on my head and I relaxed.

"I know, Mom."

"Come now. We need to start preparing for your big day." She helped me up.

After my morning rituals, I put on an elegant spaghetti-strapped dress that Camilla had gifted me and went downstairs.

The breakfast had been served.

Baba, Grandma, Grandma Martina and Camilla were seated at the table, waiting for us.

"Good morning!" I greeted cheerfully and rushed to meet Baba.

"Good morning!" Everyone answered while Baba hugged me with a gentle smile.

"Come, let’s have some breakfast." He made me sit beside him.

Camilla served me with lemon and mint tea first so I could avoid nausea on my big day.

"I was just telling your father that he looks young for his age," Grandma Martina said while picking up the glass of mango juice and taking a sip.

"Everyone says that. He can definitely pass for an older brother." I winked at her, making everyone at the table laugh and Baba slightly blush.

He avoided female company but I could see he was at ease with my in-laws.

"And your mother for your older sister. Both of them are so graceful," Camilla added with a nod towards my Mom.

"You honour us," Mom politely answered.

"Well, both my grandmothers are still rocking so of course my parents are going to appear young." I smiled at Grandma Meena and Grandma Martina.

They flashed me their best smiles.

"Stay blessed child. We hope the best for you."

The rest of the breakfast was eaten amidst laughter and jokes. My heart swelled seeing everyone getting along.

I tried to eat a pancake but somehow I found knots in my stomach from the excitement of the day.

Who would have thought seven months ago that I would be getting married to Karsten instead of Andy?

The thought brought a smile to my face. How fate had twisted and played its hand.

After breakfast, Stella arrived to take me along to The Cottage. It had been arranged that I would get ready there because our venue was nearby.

"We will see you soon, Arata." Mom and Baba kissed me goodbye. Hades had been appointed to remain by my side. He drove us to The Cottage with two cars remaining in front and behind us.

Karsten was taking every precaution especially when it was our big day.

"How excited are you, Arata?" Stella held my arm and squeezed.

"A lot but most importantly, I can’t wait to see Karsten again."

Stella snickered at my words.

"Patience girl. You will see him this evening."

"You have the ring with you?" I had chosen the ring myself; it was a chrome platinum band with an elegant K carved into it, filled with diamonds.

"It’s safe with me. Don’t worry."

We arrived at our destination and Hades held the door open for me.

I was escorted into the bridal room they had prepared. Every possible luxury had been arranged in that vast room. It was flooded with natural light, and a corner had been prepared for the photoshoot as well.

Exhilaration blasted through me at the thought of my dress. I hadn’t seen it yet and couldn’t wait to wear it and walk down the aisle to reach my man.

Cherry and Roshra were already there with three of the stylists who had been hired.

They introduced themselves with broad smiles and thus began my special day preparations.

"Let’s get you ready and into your bridal dress." Roshra seated me in front of the huge mirror and thus we began.
