Murim's Weakest Princess-Chapter 144: Courier Request
Chapter 144: Courier Request
Having spent all his time in the past few years buried deep into his research, Researcher Yang now appreciated the beauty of the scenery better. Thanks to the girl holding his hand, the knot in his heart was now untangled. Anji was truly a different kind of child, and he regretted not sending his assistants away for the day. No adults were better than having bad adults watch over her.
After ascending a flight of rather steep and slippery stone stairs, they finally arrived at the sect master’s cottage. Although she seldom used it, it was also considered a sacred place. Why would Anji be allowed to use this place as she pleased when there were plenty of other accommodations?
In any case, Researcher Yang doubted Anji knew why either. Hence, he escorted her to the doorway and waited for her to enter safely.
"I’ll inform Researcher Ke about your arrival tomorrow," he told Anji. "Do you need any help tonight?"
Seeing as Anji’s elbow was still injured, it might not be convenient for her to move around. If anything, he would be more than glad to stay and help Anji for the night. It would make him feel less guilty about his assistants’ mistakes.
Shaking her head, Anji declined. Researcher Yang would probably be very busy restarting his research from scratch.
"It’s alright, I can manage. Researcher Yang should also rest early. There will be a lot of work to do from tomorrow onwards for the new research angle."
Laughing at Anji’s reminder, Researcher Yang agreed. She was not wrong. However, this time, he would revisit his basics instead of attempting to build a castle on top of clouds. At the same time, there was a different sort of work matter to conclude by tonight.
Bidding Anji good night, Researcher Yang left the secluded cottage and made his way back. Song Geying was still frozen where she stood this afternoon. His spell was still active, and it was always chilly after sundown. The disciplinary committee would see to her misconduct, but not before Researcher Yang dealt his own punishment.
After the researcher left, Anji closed the door and turned to light the room up. Her face lit up after she looked at the new objects on the table. Despite the senior librarian’s busy schedule, Pearl remembered to find some writing materials for her. Anji could finally write to her family. However, she first had to heal her sprained elbow.
Sitting cross-legged on the bed, Anji meditated and circulated her qi around her body, redirecting the flow carefully to the injured elbow. Thankfully, after twenty minutes of meditation, Anji could move it without pain. The area still looked a little inflamed and needed rest to recover fully.
After carefully testing the movement range of her elbow, Anji grinned. She would rest only after writing to her family and taking a bath. The writing could wait. However, Anji preferred not to bathe too late into the night. Her hair needed time to dry, and it was usually colder the later it became.
Activating the spell to fill and heat the bathtub, Anji changed out of her clothes and tidied the place a little more. There was still some unpacking left to do.
By the time Anji was done, the tub was already full and steaming. After getting changed out of her clothes, Anji threw in some herbs she had received from Doctor Yun earlier at the infirmary. Ordinarily, these herbs were used to wrap around the injured area. However, Anji knew that it was more effective to absorb their medical properties in a heated bath. However, she had to be mindful not to overdo it. Lizi was no longer here to scold Anji and pull her out of the bath if she fainted inside.
Setting a timer, Anji dipped herself in the medicinal bath and sighed. When she closed her eyes, the familiar scent of herbs reminded her of home.
Soaking in the scent of nostalgia, Anji meditated and mentally identified the herbs Doctor Yun prescribed. He had the general idea right. However, Anji would likely add in cinnamon bark or red dates to dispel the chill from her body after washing clothes all day and being exposed to cold water.
In any case, the medicine was effective. After twenty minutes of meditation, the timer went off. Anji deactivated the talisman and inspected her injured arm. The inflammation had receded, and Anji could not tell it had previously sprained.
Feeling better and more refreshed, Anji got out of the bath and emptied the tub. Then, she looked at the small growing pile of dirty clothes on the ground that started from yesterday. This would not do.
Not wanting a mountain of dirty clothes to collect in her shifu’s cottage, Anji returned to the table and started preparing several talismans similar to the ones she drew earlier in Researcher Yang’s backyard. Then, she went around and found a small tub and basket that would work. The only problem was the lack of ashes. Anji would have to ask Aunt Wine for some tomorrow. For tonight, she could only wash them with heated water.
Setting up her personal laundry system outside with the help of a few lamps for light, Anji tossed her dirty clothes in and activated the talismans. It would take some time for the washing to finish. Hence, Anji went back indoors and started writing her letter.
Anji wanted to write to so many people. However, there was limited paper on the table. Hence, she had to prioritise. Would it be appropriate to request more papers, especially those suitable for talismans? After all, Anji will become a chore expert in the next few weeks. She could not imagine doing chores by hand if every researcher’s yard looked like Researcher Yang’s.
Sitting down, Anji prepared the ink and instantly missed her charcoal pencils. Although Pearl tried to find her the smallest brush, it was still too big for Anji. The ink splattered easily as she was too short, and the blotched strokes made her handwriting look clumsy.
After fifteen minutes of struggle, Anji finally filled one page full of words and addressed her parents, Lizi, and older sister. Knowing they would be full of worries if they knew what happened today, Anji cleverly omitted the part where she was bullied and injured. Instead, she reassured them that she was coping well while the climate was different.
Although the Mystical Qilin Sect was technologically advanced, it still lacked certain things that the Celestial Dragon Sect had. Anji wondered if her family would be able to courier such things. Her shifu should not mind. After all, those were things that Anji grew up with and needed. freёnovelkiss.com
Adding in the last line as a final thought, Anji requested a few seeds so she could grow them while in the Mystical Qilin Sect. Anji specified the persimmon seeds and herbs she requested. Those were important. Although she could not continue cultivating her persimmon shrub or see it becoming a tree, she still wanted to continue growing a spiritual plant. Grandpa Jin told her that if she could successfully grow a spiritual plant, she could undo one more seal on her golden core.
Putting the brush down, Anji let the ink on her letter dry while going back outside to check on the clothes. After confirming that they weren’t as dirty as Anji thought, she emptied the tub and stuck them into a spinning basket that would dry them quickly.
In less than ten minutes, Anji had a new uniform and clothes ready for tomorrow. Satisfied, she tidied everything away and headed back indoors, turned off the lamps and jumped to bed.
Tired from all the physical work, Anji fell asleep in less than ten breaths.
