Chapter 808: Chapter 808: Two Old Perverts

Norman Sutton quietly moved closer, standing about half a meter away, and overheard the boy standing behind Lana Holloway say, "I really liked your paintings back in school. After graduation, I went to a few of your exhibitions, but unfortunately never ran into you."

Lana Holloway apologized with a smile, "I rarely go to exhibitions. I only participated in one recently."

"Well, I planned to go to that one too. I even bought the ticket, but my dad called me to the USA last minute, so I couldn’t make it. It seems we just keep missing each other."

Lana Holloway just gave a dry laugh, clearly not very skilled at small talk with strangers.

But the guy was quite chatty. Seeing that Lana was at a loss for words, he quickly switched topics, "My grandpa’s birthday is coming up. I wanted to contact you to get a custom painting for him. Do you have time? I heard one of your works sold for ten million recently, so I thought you must have many commissions lined up?"

Mentioning that ten million painting, Lana felt a bit guilty and hurriedly explained, "That was just... a misunderstanding. My paintings don’t fetch such high prices. I’ve been learning embroidery from my master lately, so I haven’t painted in a while. But for your grandpa’s birthday, I can help with a painting."

The guy said excitedly, "Really? Then I’ll ask him about what he wants and talk to you in detail later. If it’s convenient, can we add each other on WhatsApp?"

Lana Holloway lowered her head and pulled out her phone. The guy said, "Let me scan you."

"Okay."

As Lana was about to show her QR code, a hand reached out from above her head, and then there was the sound of a successful scan notification. Norman Sutton’s voice followed, "Just add me. I handle all her matters. If you want to buy a painting, contact me. I’m with her every day, so I’ll let her know immediately."

The guy looked at the contact that appeared on his phone, scratched his head with a sheepish smile, and reluctantly clicked to add the contact, "Well, okay then. Sorry to trouble you."

Lana said nothing and put her phone back in her bag.

Although she didn’t openly confront Norman in front of others, it was clear she didn’t like how Norman intervened in her affairs.

"Come on, everyone, find a seat. We’re about to start the card game," Seraphina Vaughn said while shuffling the deck.

The guy pulled a chair over and asked Lana, "Can I sit next to you?"

Lana didn’t reply but shifted her chair slightly to make space for him.

Norman frowned, grabbed a stool, and placed himself between the two, saying to the guy, "Make some room, I’m playing too."

The guy clearly saw Norman’s intention, but he leaned closer to Lana and pointed to the other side, "Sit over here, it’s not as drafty."

Norman said, "I’m not afraid of the cold."

As they reached a deadlock, the woman with the wine-red hair moved her chair, calling out to Norman, "Hey, handsome, sit here. Let’s start drawing cards."

Normally, with Norman’s personality, he wouldn’t back down until he won.

But knowing that if he continued to pester, it might make Lana like him less. Reluctantly, he sat on the other side of the guy.

As long as he was close enough, he could keep an eye on this guy at all times.

The game’s rules were simple: draw poker cards and compare the values based on the ranking in a game of "Fight the Landlord." The one with the smallest value would be the loser and be punished with truth or dare.

The first round’s loser was the bob-haired girl. She picked a truth card, and Seraphina Vaughn read the text on it, "Do you have a birthmark and where is it?"

The girl shyly giggled, saying, "Oh, you’re naughty," while Morgan Quinn next to her laughed and asked, "Do you have one? Where is it?"

She blushed and pointed over her clothes to her left chest, "It’s about the size of a thumbnail, heart-shaped."

Faye Xavier immediately teased, "Wow, that’s special. I’d love to see it."

"Brother Faye, you’re so bad!"

Barry Barrett rolled his eyes and quietly whispered to Lana Holloway beside him, "These two are such pervs."

Seraphina Vaughn, unable to stand the girl’s coy voice and disliking Faye and Morgan’s innuendos, quickly said, "Alright, next round, everyone."

The next loser was the brunette woman, who picked a dare.

"Switch tops with the first person of the opposite sex to your left."

As her opposite, Faye Xavier was more than willing, and the brunette swapped clothes with him, half-reluctantly, half-playing along.

After a few rounds, everyone playing near Faye seemed to lose.

Norman Sutton, who was not really invested in the game, focused on observing the guy to his left, keeping an eye on his every move.

When they drew cards again, Norman saw he had a "2" and realized it was his unlucky round since "2" is the lowest card in the game.

Upon comparing cards, he found out he wasn’t the only one who drew a "2"; Lana Holloway had as well. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Realizing this, Norman suddenly didn’t feel unlucky anymore. Drawing the same card as Lana among so many meant they had a connection or were in sync somehow.

Seraphina Vaughn, looking like she was enjoying the spectacle, smiled and asked, "Which one of you wants to go first?"

Lana reached out and said, "I’ll go first."

Seraphina asked, "Truth or dare?"

Lana hesitated for a moment, "Truth."

Seraphina placed the pile of truth cards in front of Lana.

"This one."

Seraphina picked up the card and read, "Would you have a relationship with your partner before marriage? Why?"

Norman listened intently to this question, wanting to know if Lana and Zachary Wilson had done anything like that.

This question was a bit bold for Lana; her cheeks turned slightly red, and she replied, "Probably not because... it doesn’t feel secure."

As soon as Lana finished speaking, the wine-red-haired woman next to Norman teased, "Oh, you’re still so innocent."

Norman just smiled with satisfaction, and no one knew what he was smiling about.
