Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 586: It Takes Two to Tango
Regarding the topic of "children," Clarissa Morgan obviously didn’t want to talk much, so she took Quentin Sterling’s arm and walked away first.
Audrey Sutton gave a hand to push the shopping cart, turning to smile at Shane Warner, saying, "You’re also wary of her, right? Afraid she’d find out I’m pregnant and try to deal with me, so you just lied without thinking."
Shane Warner didn’t speak, just carefully used his hand to shield Audrey Sutton, afraid that she might be hit by passing customers.
Indeed, he was scared. If something went wrong with this child again, he might never be able to forgive himself for the rest of his life, and he didn’t know how to face Audrey Sutton.
So he became even more cautious, avoiding anything that might harm the mother and child.
He didn’t know if Clarissa Morgan would take any action once she found out, but it’s always good to be cautious.
Audrey Sutton lowered the arm linked with his, then traced down his arm to his hand, tightly interlocking her warm hand with his slightly cold big hand, looked up at him, and said, "That’s what I’m saying, Clarissa Morgan is someone who needs to be dealt with thoroughly. Otherwise, we have to be cautiously on guard against her constantly. We don’t owe her anything, so there’s no reason we should live so cautiously because of her."
Shane Warner didn’t know what Audrey Sutton was up to, just glanced down at her, warning her, "If there’s any dealing to be done, it won’t be by you. Stay put and don’t go taking risks on your own accord anymore."
Seeing his fierce look, Audrey Sutton knew he was just nervous about her, so she just pouted and said, "I know, I’m not that stupid to clash directly with her."
After returning from the supermarket, Shane Warner started preparing soup for dinner.
Audrey Sutton washed some grapes and leisurely reclined on the sofa, watching TV while eating and playing on her phone.
While scrolling X, she saw Clarissa Morgan trending on it.
The content was about Clarissa Morgan and Quentin Sterling appearing together at a supermarket, intimately and warmly, dispelling divorce rumors.
After looking at the photos taken below, Audrey Sutton roughly understood that this announcement and the trending topic were probably prepared by Clarissa Morgan in advance.
The purpose was to solidify her image as a high-society wife, a gentle lady.
She often talked in front of the camera about how good her and Mr. Sterling’s relationship was, so rumors of divorce spreading online more and more fantastically did affect her to some extent.
No wonder the two of them went to the supermarket together today. It turns out Clarissa Morgan arranged for someone to take these pictures beforehand.
Why did Audrey Sutton feel that the photos were deliberately staged? Because in many of the scenes in the photos, she and Shane Warner were right next to them at the time. If it was really paparazzi, they’d definitely have photographed her and Shane Warner, too, and written them into the gossip. The photos posted online were obviously selected, not even including their presence in the background as bystanders.
You could see that Clarissa Morgan was indeed using Quentin Sterling, and Quentin Sterling either was unaware or willingly cooperating with Clarissa Morgan in this act.
Audrey Sutton pondered where to start to eliminate the ticking time bomb that was Clarissa Morgan.
Seeing how infatuated Quentin Sterling was with Clarissa Morgan, directly going to Quentin Sterling to speak ill of Clarissa Morgan might not be well-received by him.
"Hey, hubby." Audrey Sutton got up with a mischievous smile and walked over to Shane Warner.
Shane Warner could tell things were amiss from her odd expression: "What’s up?"
Audrey Sutton smiled and said, "I thought of a way."
Shane Warner seemed a bit puzzled: "Hmm?"
Audrey Sutton: "How about you use your charm on Clarissa Morgan with a ’pretty boy scheme’? Then I’ll take Brother Sterling to catch the scene, so he can see Clarissa Morgan’s true face, and then..."
Before Audrey Sutton finished talking, Shane Warner’s expression darkened, interrupting her with a sinister tone, "You’re quite generous, huh."
Audrey Sutton: "Can’t catch a wolf without sacrificing the child, right? It’s not like I’m really asking you to do anything with her. Just have you set up a meeting with her to get her talking, maybe record something stealthily. Let Brother Sterling know that the one Clarissa Morgan has always liked is you, and that marrying him was just utilizing him. Then Brother Sterling would be moved from love to hate towards Clarissa Morgan and wouldn’t protect her any longer." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Shane Warner coldly said, "Go watch your TV."
Audrey Sutton: "I think this plan is great. Clarissa Morgan always uses shady tricks; think of it as returning the favor. Also, we’d be saving Brother Sterling from misery, doing a good deed and accumulating virtue. Don’t you think so?"
Shane Warner glared at her with a stern face, evidently feeling "not right".
Audrey Sutton pouted and walked away a few steps, then turned back to ask him, "So what do you suggest we do?"
"Watch your TV and stay out of it."
Shane Warner evidently hadn’t thought of a suitable plan either, yet was obviously not in favor of Audrey Sutton’s bad idea.
He just thought that maybe the way to deal with this indeed should start with Quentin Sterling.
Because as long as Quentin Sterling didn’t know Clarissa Morgan’s true nature, he would continue to shield her. With Quentin Sterling’s interference, it might not be easy to bring Clarissa Morgan to justice.
Two days later, at the Sue Family’s charity banquet.
Audrey Sutton specifically chose a large, poufy skirt with a crinoline. This way, even if she wore thick tights and flat shoes underneath, no one would notice anything was amiss, and most importantly, it perfectly concealed her belly, so those who didn’t know wouldn’t realize she was pregnant.
Before going to the banquet, Audrey Sutton already knew that Seraphina Vaughn also had an invitation, and as usual, she came with her cousin.
In these settings, there was always a crowd of sycophants around Shane Warner, so naturally, with friends accompanying her, Audrey Sutton didn’t want to stay beside Shane Warner dealing with this.
As long as Seraphina Vaughn was around, it wouldn’t be boring, because she always had endless gossip, which Audrey Sutton happened to love listening to.
"That woman over there, she used to date my cousin, she’s someone who for the right price would strike any pose."
"Also, that man, he’s got a wife, but the girl beside him is his lover, and everyone around knows it, except his wife who’s kept in the dark."
"And that short girl in the black dress, don’t let her innocent looks fool you, she’s a seasoned third party, full of tricks. She cons men for money, but those men aren’t any good themselves, just that one is willing to hit and one is willing to take."
Following Seraphina Vaughn’s pointing, Audrey Sutton’s gaze landed on the man beside the girl in the black dress, recognizing him as Faye Xavier.
Immediately she felt that Seraphina Vaughn was right, Faye Xavier indeed was not a good man.
Seraphina Vaughn only realized it later: "Isn’t that guy next to her your husband’s buddy? Why don’t you go give him a heads up? Women like that are very seductive. Many men really fall for her, only to have their pockets cleaned out, and then she’d just move on to the next sugar daddy."
Audrey Sutton pursed her lips and shook her head: "No need to remind him, he changes women faster than anything."
